I asked Facilities at my company for a sit-or-stand desk, which is adjustable.
I lost 10 lbs immediately without changing any other behavior and my back and shoulder strain from being on the computer a lot disappeared. And I have more energy even though I stand about 4 hours per day. And my mind is clearer, how weird is that?
The one I have is "WorkRite" but there are many. They even have new ones with treadmills (!) but I would rather not sweat at work :)
I know how you feel! I was painting our master bedroom the night before my baby arrived, and my father-in-law was installing the flooring while we were in the hospital! Sometimes it's just a little too much stress!
Our favorite summer activites are;
Tubing down a river. We go every week inviteing different folks to join us. I change out the food each week to keep it interesting. (fried chicken- to subs- to BBQ ribs)
We pick nights for the kids to stay up and find fireflys and look for falling stars while having icecream for dinner. (Yes you read right...icecream for dinner)
Our family LOVES to go to THE WORLD'S LONGEST YARD SALE the 1st week in August. We do everything up there, like go to drive-in movies, camp at back woods churches and eat out at local mom n pop places.
On Labor day weekend, we put together a scapebook of all the events, places and things we did over the summer. We go tubing 1 more time and yes...finish off the weekend with icecream for dinner.
In the summer we go tubing down a river every week. We invite different folks to go along, switch out the picinic foods, (from fresh fried chicken to subs to bbq ribs) that we put in a cooler to float down with us, and of course lots of sodas! The only cost is our car gas to get there, as we already have the floating rafts & tubes (with extras for those who don't have any) We have extra good treats for our family fun day anyway, so it isn't much more on food.
In Florida, all seniors and disabled can camp at 50% off.
In the summer, alot of movie theaters have $1 days or tuesday date night @ 1/2 off.
At least once a month we have a "Watch fireflys and look for falling stars" duuring the summer
In the fall there are Pow-Wows to camp and have fun (most camp free)
My new favorite summer activity is nurturing my newly created flower bed. It began last year as a 3x6feet plot in front of the porch with some success. Several perenials made it through the mild winter. This year, the flower bed has expanded to the entire length of the front of the house. Its exciting to have to seen the recently ordered bulbs from Holland flourish.
Other summer activities I can't wait to enjoy are hitting the local beach and cook-out hopping. I'm just really looking forward to being out in the sun and soaking up as much as possible before the dreded Labor Day.
19 million trees?? Really, did you just make that number up? I mean considering phone books are made from the byproducts of trees and are 100% recyclable! Maybe do a little more research on adp.org and realize the truth.
Im sure the computer, smartphone, or tablet you used to create this article is a much bigger problem to the environment than a recyclable book made from recycled materials!!
If I can add to the "Why should I hire you?" tip- be specific! As an interviewer, I'm so tired of hearing "I'm a hard worker", "I'm organized" "I'm efficient". Please give me an example, rather than some general response. Instead of "I'm organized", tell me how you re-organized the supply cabinet so that you were able to fit 20% more product inside, or that you implemented a phone tree for company communications, or that you planned and executed the company picnic. Anyone can SAY they are organized (hard-working, efficient, etc.), but you need to SHOW me, and since you don't work for me yet, you need to do this using previous history.
We like to head to the local lake for picnic and swimming activities. The cost is only $10 for the day and we can take our dogs for some exercise, too. For exercise, hitting the lap pool is more enjoyable than running in the Texas heat.
Eating outside and tending to the garden and enjoying the fresh produce out of it.

Enjoying the long, breezy days with friends and all of the great summer fruits and vegetables in season.
I love walking by the lake and spending time in the garden.
Swimming in the evening. Reading in the grass. Sitting on the deck & enjoying dinner al fresco.
