Totally have learned a lot from playing womens roller derby these past 8 years. I learned sports are more than the athleticism and competition but the camaraderie. I also learned that if you play a grueling sport, you need to me tal and physically prepare for the game and its consequences on your body and life!
My father in law has spent increasingly long visits with us over the past several years (coming from AZ to MN). It used to be 1-2 weeks, but has evolved into two months. He "told" (not "asked") us last June that he'd be staying the month of September (which is plenty long, IMHO), then announced in late July that he'd be coming for August as well (which completely screwed up our summer vacation plans). My husband has a strangely formal relationship with his dad, and feels that it's the height of rudeness to push back on his visits in any way, and any argument that I might have with him makes him say that I'm a horrible and unkind person. My FIL is a dear, lovely man, and I adore him, but he's not a good houseguest--his crap is everywhere, he doesn't cook or buy any groceries, he makes huge hints that he likes to eat dinner at 5pm (I don't even get home from work until 5pm, then generally like to go for a run, then cook, and serve dinner around 7pm--that's our lifestyle), he's hard of hearing and keeps the TV at a deafening volume (and we're at his mercy on what to watch), and he gets up several times in the night to pee and slams doors when doing so which leaves us severely sleep-deprived. And a million other things that are just really disruptive to our lives. Worst of all, he's with us 24/7--if we go to run the smallest of errands, he comes with us. Any attempts at a "date-night" fail, and he comes with. I get that he's lonely, and if he were to visit for a week or two, fine, but a two month visit--come on? I literally "miss" my husband when my FIL visits--we truly do not have any alone time together. I have no idea how to deter these future long-term visits, but I can't keep doing this. How do you tell a beloved family member that they can't come stay with you for as long as they'd like without hurting their feelings?
This is great advice, how would you let guests know what you expect when they visit your home? We recently moved to CO and have different family and friends visit at least once per month. It get so expensive having guests eat our food, coffee, etc. When my parents visit they are really helpful but friends my age (upper 20s-30s) visit they don't offer to strip sheets, they leave things here we have to ship home, and when we go to somewhere that costs money we often foot the bill. Is there a polite way to bring this up when ppl stay?
Well, I came to read this blog about how to avoid plant thefts and that's because I just had 6 potted plants of mine stolen yesterday, while I and my husband were off to office as usual. My neighbour who had seen 2 young guys robbing, she shouted to shoo them away. I was informed when I came back from the office. I am so very depressed that I just want to take all my plants to my mom's place and leave it there for her to look after. I love plants so much. But these people who are idiotic and selfish, discourage me so much. I hope I can catch them in act and punch them on their faces for taking away my kids.
The library is just a stepping stone in most careers; a good place to rest until the economy really turns around. Most libraries are part of City government which can mean low pay increases plus you aren't paying into Social Security which can hurt your retirement plan. If you enjoy working with children and teens it can be good; the new era is the Tech Labs many libraries are adding. Tech Labs call for more technical people who will stay for a while then leave when they get better job offers for the private companies. A good place for new grads to build there skills but not the long-term job for people 25 - 35 unless you have a Master's degree in Library Science or they will pay for you getting your Master's.
I ride bicycles, walk, swim, ride with hubby on his motorcycle, do Classical Stretch 5 days per week. Rarely I will bowl, play a bit of volleyball, and play frisbee.
Mugs, guys, make surprisinlgy good gits sometimes but that works mostly for the peoplethat you know for a fact that they tend to attach meaning to everyday objects and if you pick a mug correctly.
I posted an add to sell my dads RV. Got an text message for some guy who's friend is in the military and searching for him. He gave me the guys email snd name since he is deployed. I emailed him and he emailed me back asking questions. I told him what he needed to know. He responded back said he wanted it but needed to use pay pal to transfer funds to pay for the RV. He said he has a hauler company that will pick up RV and sign. He has not seen it or test drive it just going by what I'm saying but he does not want to loose it while he is in the military. Seems too good to be true but again this is different because I am the seller not the buyer and he's willing to do PayPal for me to get the money first. What do YALL think.
Japchae...Ah! No wonder I'm feeling so bloated. I thought I found the perfect noodle made from sweet potato. Delicious but I look like I'm 4 months pregnant. I'm so happy I found this article. I'm buying all the suggested noodles to see what works for me.
Zone Locking Players is a restrictive trade practice, by Electronic Goods Manufacturers, at the behest of Studios ( Of course as Sony owns Paramount) they have a vested interest.
As it is perfectly legal to buy DVDs in Europe, Asia or the US and have them posted to another country, the Manufacturers and colluding with studios, to deny consumers their right to spend their own money on what goods they wish to buy and from where they choose.

No, I don't play sports, wish I did.
I occasionally (like very very occasionally) play tennis.
I played sports in high school, but not since. Hated it then, hate it still, but now there's no pressure to play!
I enjoy both running and triathlon. If they were in my area, women's basketball league would definitely be my go to sport to play.
No, I don't play any sports.
I do not play sports.
Nope, I was only half way decent at volleyball in school. I was into music and theater in school.

I love to exercise but don't get it by playing sports. I think team sports can be great in many ways but I just never made the time for it.
I play golf and basketball
I only play casually, but it's fun!
