I find that most of the return email addresses on the car, boat and RV ad scams are usually a female name like Adelaide, Georgia, Linda, etc. Most seem to use gmail email addresses.
I guess the scammers think a female name increases your confidence that the ad is posted in good will.
Recently I set out to flag all these obvious bogus car ads (boats and RVs as well) in our local CL and had almost eliminated them but CL is no longer paying attention to my flags and leaving the ads in place.
I think CL probably sees the bogus ads as money in their pocket since it adds to the number of total posts they have thus adding to their stature as a place for advertisers.
I've now had several CL buyers show up on a CL ad where the price was very clearly posted in the ad as "firm." They then proceed to tell you they had thought, or were told, the price was much lower.
This is not so much a scam as it is a dishonest negotiating tool to get around the wording in your ad. Just thought sellers ought to know.
My husband and I have one retirement goal:water view. River, lake, ocean...havent decided. But I want to see water everyday. This wint be until like 2040, so hopefully clean water will still be abundant.
These are great ideas! I am a stay at home mom always looking for legitimate ways to make money from home. I never thought about the delivery gig. I wonder what they have in my area...
I drink one cup of coffee at home because I like it better than anywhere else. I only make one cup by using one heaping teaspoon in a brewing cone set on top of my cup. Pour in boiling water, add my favorite creamer, and I have the perfect cup of coffee. If we are traveling or I'm running late I make the coffee in my travel cup. Good coffee is expensive but if you're not wasting it by brewing extra and dumping it, you can purchase a better bean.
Did you really just tell tenants to move people into their apartment (sublease) and NOT tell the property manager / owner - and just "hope for the best"?!?
Sure -- since the tenant wants to get out of the lease, why not just tell them to violate it by putting unauthorized people in there? Great idea.
You have zero credibility with suggestions like this. Ridiculous.
I am happy I had enough vague memories of this post, to refind it! I was trying to use up $5.12 on a Visa card and needed to make an online purchase. Bought the $5 walmart gift card to apply toward what I am buying :)
Most of the inexperience authors, including this one, on the vast majority of these webpages, do not have a whole lot of life experience and/or their "sources of reliable information" are either repair people or industry people with a specific agenda to increase sales by putting far lower perceived useful lives of appliances into peoples minds in order to profit from them. I am in my 50s and I have been in the rental property business for about 30 years, so not only do I have my experience for refrig, stoves and ovens, DW, clothes washers and dryers stoves and ovens, I have the experience of my rental properties. So here are the real lives of appliances based on actual experience.
Refrigerators = 25 years as much as forty years in some cases
Stove/oven = if gas 35 to 40 years, if electric around 25 years to maybe 30
Dish washers =25 -30 years.
Clothes washers = based on 10 loads/week front loaders 8-10 years, top loaders 20 -25 years
Clothes Dryers = if gas 25 to 30 years, if electric (not sure here) but probably 10-15
Central Air conditioners = 30 to 45 years. My neighbor a retired engineer made his last almost 45 years.
There will be some minor repairs to all these appliances with the parts not costing but $10 to $50 ($8 bearing for a gas dryer needed at about 10 years), but the labor rates are a minimum of $200 and up. So if you can make the repair yourself, which I believe almost everyone can do it, then it makes almost no sense to replace your appliances. Even if you have to pay for the repair and it is $250 and if a new appliance is above $400, then it is probably still worth it to repair your current appliance rather then buy new. I hope this helps you all
My hubby and I would love to retire to Brookings, Oregon. We love the scenery and the ocean! We are also looking for a small, peaceful town away from the big city.
I am part of that 1% someone mentioned, who studied music all the way through high school. In fact, I went on to receive a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. There are a lot of private music teachers who teach from their homes & have minimal musical training, but there are those of us who have put years & years into studying the art of music & who could be considered "experts" in the field. I think this is a very important factor to consider when you're looking for a teacher or come across a one who charges $30-$50 per lesson. With a degreed professional, not only would your child be getting all the benefits of learning music & a musical instrument, but they would have the added benefit of being taught by a highly trained teacher who is passing off their lifetime of study in the field to your child. I understand that that amount could be a lot for some families to pay, but there is that adage, "you get what you pay for."
Why the ppl use text plus numbers when their trying to sale things on craglist ? I have sent numerous of emails , left voicemails , sent texts even called still haven't gotten a reply from anyone I considered purchasing from all text plus numbers
Good question, and a good topic. This is something i struggle with a lot, as a freelancer. It's something my girlfriend and i talk a lot about. She's younger than i, and is a lot more inherently optimistic and knowing of her self-worth.
How it effects me, particularly when work gets tight/starts to run out, is I end up taking bad jobs that don't pay enough, just to make ends meet. They take too long, for too little, leaving me feeling burned out and jaded and then unable to work on higher-paying jobs.
I think a real-life example is the simplest, best metaphor: you buy a nice steak, to make steak tacos. It's nicer than what you usually buy, and you're looking forward to the tacos, so you draw it out. You want to make it last, you're afraid of when it's gone, it'll make all your other food seem boring, etc. etc. etc. You wait so long to enjoy this one nice thing that you have that it ends up going bad, and then you don't get to enjoy it at all.
When you feel like that's the only nice steak you're ever going to get, you end up not enjoying it at all. When you know there's other steaks out there, and you deserve them, you can relax and enjoy yourself.
What do you think about each person contributing the same percentage of their income to a joint account to pay off shared expenses and keeping the remainder for their personal expenses? So, for example, Jane contributes 40% of $110,000 and Dan also contributes 40% of $60,000. Is this different or more fair than another option suggested?
I would like to retire in California
Possibly Whidbey Island, it's kind of a cool place, still close to lots of things, but small town feel.
I am just curious but from the start the article assumes auto financing or leasing. Wouldn't the best money move be to pay cash for the car?

I just recently discovered a mold issue in my home and the Boston Fern was listed as one of the top 5 indoor plants to help filter mold spores.
I'd love to retire in Northern Georgia. Love the climate there, love the people, love the mountains!
I have a samsung blue ray disc player bd-h5100 and tried all the suggestions and none have worked. Any other ideas

Wow, I never realized there were that many publications looking for freelance writers. This is an awesome resource. Thank you do much for sharing.

There are some websites now that specialize in last minute weddings, like Last Minute Wed
