BBVA did the same thing to me. I've also gotten one from another company that the name escapes me right now. I demanded they close the account and they acted like I asked them to explain in vivid detail the creation of the universe. I think this I an appalling tactic in getting customers. I mean really, who gets one if these and says "wow a free debit card I gotta put money into to work and I didn't even ask for it! Thank you Lord!"
I didn't know that transmissions can safely be bought used. However, I've seen the price tag for new transmissions, so I welcome any way to reduce that price. If my transmission ever needs replacing, I'll definitely be asking my mechanic if I can give them a used one to use instead of having them buy a new one. Thanks for the info!
All great ideas! I just got a raise at work and plan to pad my emergency fund a little more and the rest will go to post-tax investments. I don't plan on using the raise as an excuse to spending more.
#9: 7-Day Price Guarantee hasn't been working on most items and the policy seems to have changed. Groovy Post article has been updated to reflect this.
My goal is really to start my career over again, and then to be really amping up my plans for eventual financial independence through a combination of great defense when it comes to expenses, side projects and income, and using all the tax-advantaged resources I can. First, a good job!
If your furniture is new or nearly new, consignment is the no-hassle way to go. For the large furniture and accessories (lamps, decorative items, pillows, etc.), look up consignment stores in your area. They will pick up the excess and sell it for you. Check their web site, look at the pictures, and see what they are selling.
I've seen sales at storage units. Check with yours to see if an on-site sale is permitted. A phone call should get you the info you need.
Favorite item - the large boxes of frozen eggplant parmesan, which is unavailable for long stretches, then shows up by surprise.
Best deal - car battery charger for $.25 in the clearance bin. But that was due to an especially aggressive store manager who wanted to clear out a lot of stuff quickly.
Best non-clearance deal - gallons of non-BGH milk for sometimes well under $2.50. Every other store has this as a special, more expensive item, and even their conventional milk costs more than Aldi's.
My girlfriend and I take all of our monthly bills and add it up, divide it by four since we both get paid twice a month and then our own personally recurring bills divide those up by two. And deposit that added amount into a "bill account" each paycheck. Most of the time this has done the trick but it seems like theirs some missing equation that Mike make it easier if it were added to the formula (hence why I got here after a google search).
I'd like to retire to the North Carolina mountains because the weather is nice and it's tranquil there.
Small town in southeast Minnesota. Great outdoor activities, lots of arts, and near the Mayo.
I'd love to retire someplace near the mountains so that I can stay active and enjoy nature. I find the mountains peaceful, so that would be awesome.
Michigan on the Lake Michigan coast. Love the sand beaches, four seasons and close to family
I would like to retire in my same geographical area but downsize to a smaller home/condo in the Midwest.
To use my time more wisely at work.
I currently don't have any career goals at the moment.
Have more work/life balance.

Now I am curious about the remainder of your work / office wardrobe. Do you have an article written about that?
I want to finish my Ph.D. so that I can advance as a college lecturer.
