What AirBNB does not tell you is how they handle cases where you arrive at the property and find there is no way to lock your room to protect your belongings when you go out sightseeing, when the bed is not even made up, or when the room is being rented illegally. Even though we did not even stay one night there and called AirBNB immediately, the company refused to return $185 of our deposit. Also, AirBNB is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. The just keep whatever they want of your money.
Never Quit
I agree that living debt free is good. I still use a credit card for almost everything but pay the full balance each month. It is just more covenant than carrying cash. For most AlwaysAtWork's point about insurance and taxes is true, luckily for me I did 22 years in the military and have healthcare for life. I will never quit working but it is great to know I can if I want to.
You might think so... do you keep track of the birds to see the longterm effects? Scientific research exists for a reason - to help us grow, learn, and do better. Bread is bad for birds. Period. Whether you think so or not. I can't think of a reason to feed birds other than that you enjoy them and are trying to help... if this is true, don't ignore the facts that you are actually hurting them by feeding out bread.
Awesome ideas, and thanks for them. You could eliminate the one about feeding it to birds though. Whether or not Audubon would stuff you for it, bread is better off in the trash can than being given to wild birds. The detrimental effects of that are far reaching. And yea, gulls are birds not cockroaches. Pretty amazing birds deserving of a bit more respect... and not in need of stale bread.

I use the envelope system to budget. As an American ESL teacher in Southeast Asia I am paid in local currency. When I receive my salary, I place the amount I have budgeted for each category in the labeled envelope. The remainder stays in my bank account as savings. If I exceed one category, I allow myself to "borrow" from another envelope if I need to. However, I do not make further withdrawals from the savings account until the company deposits my next salary. For some, this may be too limiting, but it forces me to reflect on my lifestyle and make conscious choices on what is truly important/valuable to me. Would I rather eat dark chocolate instead of running the AC every night? For me....YES!
I used to work for AT&T (never had their service personally, though, believe it or not. I lived in a distant rural area where only one *undisclosed* (LOL) carrier worked at all) and they have secret / retired plans they can give to loyal customers. I know because I used them. Double the data you have now for the same monthly cost you’re paying for what you have now, an extra 2 gigs for the hell of it. We weren’t really supposed to talk about these, but we used them strategically anyway -- we’re salespeople working on commission in these stores, come on.
If you take this seriously and talk like you know what you’re talking about, you can get one too. Call, say you’re there to cancel today, and how you were offered such a better deal somewhere else (have a couple numbers just to legitimize your claim), and you’re done. --This only works well when you’ve been with them for at least a few years. You’ll get sent to retention and they’ll hook you up, provided your claim makes sense. If you use 1 gig they won’t offer you 30 gigs though.
What I see today, toaster ovens have demand and it is increasing day by day.
I don't keep a budget
Yes I have one but it's just a general one and not really exact.
I had a strange desire to click on ads but could not find them...I could click on Comcast ads all day....among others... ;)

Proctor Silex is junk. It'll stop working after a few months.
I don't keep a written budget but I track it in my head.

Yes we have a ton of expenses so we need to keep a budget.
I try to. I don't have specific amounts for everything, but I track my spending and try to not go overboard anywhere.

I don't budget but I am careful about my spending.

Thanks for that, it works in Win7 as well.
I don't personally but my wife does.

yes, since 2003
I have a budget for monthly expenses and groceries as well.
I don't have a firm budget, but I try to shoot for a target amount for my discretionary spending each month.
5% interest - a modest rate! tell me where I can get that nowadays, I haven't been getting returns like that for years.
I do keep a monthly budget on a spreadsheet.
When will they learn? If you try to stop me from watching something I want to pay for, then I'll just torrent it and you'll get nothing.
Nice!!! How was it ?!?!?!?!?
