Home made squash soup. Although a great soup has many ingredients, most of them are spices that you only have to buy once. This recipe below is fine-dining quality. All you need for fresh veggies is 1 squash, 2 onions, 1 lemon, and garlic and ginger. I don't use the fresh corriander, I use dry instead.
My favorite Thanksgiving comfort food is homemade creamed spinach. It's one of the last dishes made an it's always a staple at our table. I would say it's better than the stuff you get at Boston Market, but hey, that's just me reaching!
Making your own sour milk is actually really easy -- to make a cup of sour milk, take a tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice, and add enough milk (whatever fat percentage you prefer) to make a full cup. Stir and let sit for five minutes before using.
Hi Greg!
Thanks for those useful tips! I've been noticing that more and more, businesses are going paperless. I've even signed a few contracts electronically, saving several copies on paper. It's more convenient and better for the environment!
you don't need special training to use an AED. All the instructions are printed inside it. It also talks you through the steps required. Just stay calm (as you should in all these situations) knowing that help is at hand, and follow the printed and spoken instructions. Don't be afraid to try to save someone's life. Most states have Good Samaritan laws that will protect your well-intentioned efforts. =)
Thanks, Edward. You make a good point. The higher percentages are often used to illustrate the power of compounding. That said, even at a much lower interest rate, the point here is that the longer you wait to start saving/investing, the more you fall behind. This means that investing a smaller amount of money early is actually worth more than investing a larger sum several years later. Unfortunately, investors can't control the markets; what we can control is ensuring that we set money aside and get the most we can with the resources available to us. It sounds like you're on the right track!
Thank so much for the preview recipes. Good luck on the book. But on the boston brown bread where are you expecting your average suburbanite to get their sour milk from? Maybe you should consider offering a substitution. (That sort of thing might make some readers less confident that they should try the recipes.)
Best,
Welcome to Wise Bread Jason! You have a beautiful family. I love that photo of you and your daughter. You with your Super Hero Dad walk and her with her little girl skip. =)
I think this is a great idea, to have a list on hand of simple and frugal things to do that make you happy. I would say you should even hang it in the kitchen or somewhere so that you can be reminded to do these things on occasion. I know sometimes that I get so busy and wrapped up in work that if a half hour of free time suddenly comes upon me, sometimes I am at a loss for what to do. Sometimes you can forget how to relax! One thing that I really love to do is just take a walk. Not the crazed commute power walk, but one where I can go slowly and look at things.
Please note: there is not a way to determine (without a CT scan) the type of stroke a person might be having. Though they account for a lower percentage of strokes each year than ischemic strokes (that is, the type involving a blood clot), there are also hemorrhagic strokes. Giving aspirin to a person having this type of stroke will be the opposite of helpful, since by thinning the blood the stroke could be made worse. And without a CT, you have no way of knowing what type of stroke they are having.
LOVE THIS BLOG! Great timing as we were heading out to purchase new toys today. Instead we will try the Empty Cuddley Toy, Garden Hose Hoopla, Cardboard Tubular and Milk Bottle Madness to start! Yes, I do plan to supervise all play with creations. Thank you very much, P. Dog and M.
here are 2 greatest tips that we use in our business:
1. Do not print your emails and faxes, but print2pdf and save them instead either in the cloud or on a hard drive. this saves plenty of trees and electricity.
2. look around and you will find plenty of electrical equipment plugged in and in a stand-by mode. Did you know that they actually suck your money and power? Turn them off
My favorite Thanksgiving budget dish is green bean casserole. It is a simple side dish to make and the ingredients are inexpensive. You can get the recipe from the Campbell's website.

Wait a second now, can you think of many "comfort foods" that are expensive?
Personally, grits and cheddar is a winner every time.

Wow, this sounds so good and easy. Never tried Hodgson Mills Insta-Bake but will now.
Saltine crackers crumbled in a cup with milk poured over. Must eat them fast while they are still crunchy.

Of course if you're married, the partying one may be over anyway (he says chuckling..kind of)
