For me wearing earplugs is a bad habit because it's now difficult for me to sleep without them. If I'm not at home and I forget 'em, I can usually fall asleep just fine, but I'll have a hard time getting back to sleep if I wake up too early in the morning.
This is really a matter of personal preference, but I think it's OK to wear a dress that's been posted around again and again -- especially if you get something that you can pair with several jewelry/shoe/sweater options for different looks.
I bought a painting of a dog that looks JUST LIKE MINE (down to the guilty, persecuted expression) for $12 at Goodwill - while that was kind of steep for an amateur painting, it remains one of my favorite pieces of art.
Thanks for commenting. I'd love to see some controlled medical experiments that prove the effectiveness of all-natural cold sore treatments. So far, I haven't seen any, so I don't feel good recommending that people purchase and use these products.
I often apply my anti-viral prescription ointment at the first sign of a tingle, but then, on a couple occasions when I haven't, I still haven't gotten any cold sores (so, I still have to wait until a bump appears to know that a cold sore is on the way). My point, I think, is that I get the tingling quite often, possibly due to nerve damage from so many cold sores, so it can be hard for me to distinguish when I am getting a cold sore and when I'm not. I know it has still staved off a couple, though, because when the skin on my lip is raised, I slap that ointment on it ASAP.
I know a few people who swear by L-Lysine as well, but I can't recommend it without there being any independent medical proof that it works. If a study appears that proves it is effective in preventing or treating cold sores, I will promote the heck out of it.
My husband and I fight about acupuncture all the time; I say it's a placebo, he swears he no linger gets seasonal allergies.
Retraining your internal clock is so important! By easing into it, it'll be so much easier for the kids (and you) once school actually starts. I should have done this more while I was in college too: I'm not much of a morning person...
I don't know the exact "science" of how each of these ingredients work, but I use this tonic faithfully on my lawn and not to brag, but I have the best lawn on the block. I have people stop all the time and tell me how beautiful my lawn is. I have been watching my neighbors yard who spends hundreds of dollars a year on lawn-care companies and my yard is 100% better looking than theirs. If it works for one person, they all you nay-sayers can do what works for YOU!!! I think perhaps some of these people own or work for lawn-care companies. I've had them myself, but they just didn't do for me what I expected. I take care of my OWN yard now!!! No need to judge people who choose to try this on their lawn. It is far better than using chemicals and I'm not saying this provides ALL of the nutrients your lawn may need. It is an individual thing and I do recommend you have your soil tested to see what your lawn is requiring. For me, I water my lawn prior to putting the tonic on (or right after a rainfall), that way it isn't just evaporating. I do it once a month and I use an Ortho brand sprayer that holds all of the tonic. I set my dial just below "4" and the water automatically mixes in the proper ratio. I would say this mixture is enough to cover at least 10,000 sq. ft as that is what size my lawn is. I spray it on pretty good...It makes my grass super soft and I do not see a lot of insects or insect damage on my lawn. It has NEVER turned my lawn brown or killed the grass....I do not use "Dawn" detergent because as someone said, it has degreaser in it. I just go to the Dollar store and buy the cheapest dishsoap that is not anti-bacterial or containing degreaser and the cheapest mouthwash, ammonia, generic soda and whatever brand of beer we have in the fridge. Just don't used diet soda. Works great for me and I hope it does the same for you!!! Keep us all posted on your results!!!
I think a lot of people panic about the idea of the deduction going away without really understanding how it will impact them personally. 108 billion is a lot of money to add to the budget!
Definitely some nice ideas for stuff to do with your walls. But honestly, I feel the premise of the article is based more in myth then reality. The idea that 'art' is expensive and out of most people's price range, just isn't really true.
Of course if you want a print of a Van Gogh, or some other household name, than you will have to pay for it. But every community across the country has some outstanding local artists in it that are just dying to sell a small print, or even an original work for a price not too different from what it would take to do one of the ideas you have listed here.
And you would have the added benefit of participating in the community, engaging with a local artist and making someone's day.
Great tips...i'm a sleeper, and it really gives the best out of me to a world you wont like, if u didn't get enough bedtime. It makes you look fresh and attractive in a healthy way and open-minded to any challenge comes forth
If the deductions dont serve the masses, then maybe it shouldnt be there? Maybe not abolished, but most definitely an update/tweak is necessary. More so now than ever?
Loved this article, your writing style and that you hit every point. You wrote what I know as a life long cold sore-ette but really haven't seen mentioned elsewhere, from mentioning moisture prolongs healing but prevents cracking to throwing towels in the laundry if you've dried your face with one when you have a cold sore, using a paper towel when possible. But, have to disagree with you on a few points. First, everyone's different when it comes to how long it takes for the cold sore to emerge from the tingling symptom. I only have 20 minutes, while I've talked to those who report a full day, even one who said the next day. Next, you may not have been successful with lysine but I know people who swear by it. And last, that all-natural cold sore remedies have not be proven to effectively treat or prevent cold sore breakouts....that's just so wrong. Quantum Health makes some natural cold sore remedies that testimonials demonstrate do work, even to prevent. And then there's what I use, an herbal remedy called Cold Sores Begone. It's prevented all of my cold sores from materializing for the last 13 years or so. I just apply it at the tingle. BTW, its only $10.99. Talk about waking up with a cold sore, used to happen to me once or twice a year. Years ago, I experimented by putting on Cold Sores Begone every night before bed. Haven't awakened with a cold sore since. The thing is this, what works for one may not work for another. I've tried accupuncture for several different ailments, but it has never worked for me. I know it has provided a world of good for many others. It is what it is.
My comments come from personal experience, and this method has worked better than any other method I have tried.
I wonder if there is another amino acid, vitamin, or mineral involved that the virus feeds on or depletes that might help you if it were replaced/replenished.
If you find another I would love to know, since preventative methods are better than treating after the outbreak?
Mostly for mp3s I will use Amazon for purchasing. I avoid purchasing through iTunes wherever possible given the DRM and the constant hassles I've found with getting music there. Unfortunately iTunes tends to have more titles oftentimes. I also purchase several lesser-known titles through CD Baby or the individual artist's site.
I know that in MY market (Los Angeles), the complete elimination of the deduction would cause another crash in the real estate market. I am not currently a home owner, but if I could take advantage of that deduction, it would be more affordable for me to own than rent because I would be able to lower my tax withholdings. I calculate that I could pay an additional $600 per month in mortgage than I do for my current rent ($1300 per month) and have more money to spend at that. And that is being VERY conservative with my numbers. Take away this deduction, and those middle class people who DO have access to it would have to tighten their spending significantly. In this recovering economy, is that a risk worth taking? I favor capping the deduction at a much lower level, and making it only for the mortgage on one's primary residence.
I mostly buy CDs or buy songs from I Tunes but I just found Spotify and I think it is destined to become my new favorite!
How often do you fertilize with secret lawn tonic in NOT so hot heat?
Oooh! What do you use the whey for, Pam?

This is a horrible option unless you are paying it off every month and are getting some pretty hefty rewards.

I usually use Amazon to purchase music. Also my public library allows me to download 3 songs for free through Freegal.

iTunes is usually the "go-to" source for my family.
Sometimes I buy actual CDs, when I have a chance to get it signed by the artists. Other times, I buy from iTunes.

Lately, amazon mp3's but still like to have a hard copy of my favorite bands. I generally like to buy a whole cd, not just singles.
I still buy a few cds each year and occasionally have my husband download something for me. Not too exciting.
I personally don't buy music very often, but my husband buys his music on iTunes or amazon.
