I am so grateful to net spend for the card that I use. I have direct deposit with this card. It would not be possible without them. Every time I tried to have a bank account I was totally frustrated with their policies. If I went .01 over I got charged an overdraft fee. When you make a purchase with this card there are less fees than a regular bank. They do not force overdraft protection on people who cannot afford to make a mistake! This corporation has never let me down. They kept my account open with no money in it, until I could make a deposit. I have saved so much money, time and aggravation by using them instead of banks that make mistakes and don't correct them. Apparently you have good credit and plenty of money to spend. Net spend has enabled me to do so many things I could not have done otherwise. Regular banks are the scam and one of them is giving your information away...and NOT just to net spend.
My husband worked at a brokerage for 17 years. We do have a financial advisor but it is more to bounce ideasoff of and see if there is something new out there that we are missing. Happily, we haven't taken some of the advice along the way. One guy wanted to put us heavily into Enron. That would have been a disaster.
The physiological science behind caffeine and how it works is very interesting and helps to get an understanding of why it has the effect and why it exists in nature.
Caffeine is a poison that stimulates adrenalin production to create anxiety in animals who eat the beans. They become anxious and then stop eating them as they operate on a purely reactive level to the toxin.
Each dose of caffeine is an adrenalin incident and has physical consequences for the consumer. The dependency that it creates among it's consumers is a billion a day industry that is showing no sign of slowing down. Now they even state on 7-Up in the UK that it is caffeine free.
I quit in March 2011 and have not looked back since but had a terrible time for around 8 weeks if not longer...no going back for me, it has no benefit at all and is a costly and harmful drug to consume daily.
I have made cheese. A farmers cheese, plenty of fresh cheese, ricotta, mozzarella and now have my first long aged cheese aging. It's jalapeno cheddar. Yum.
The whey left over from cheesemaking has plenty of excellent uses in the kitchen, too.
To get a different scenery get a hotel room. I need ideas for a guy work 2 to 3 jobs who won't fall asleep on a date because he's too tired to do anything. Dinner & a movie don't work. I could only think of the hotel. The picnic & sports idea sound great.
I live in Holland so I don't think there's a chance for me in this. although I find it really cool that you post this on the internet so people, with less money then others, can go to the movies as well! thanks in the name of them!
That video is amazing Mike. The scenes you selected are perfect--the moped one is an especially nice touch. I'm really grateful to people like you. Your hard work keeps fandoms of great shows like Buffy alive long after the they are off the air.
I do believe that having more money can equate to more problems if not handled properly. Studying the way successful millionaires operate is great advice, and using this tips you outlined will help everyone be just as capable too.
Today I found a $20 bill in a parking lot. Last year I found $15 inside of CVS. Four years ago I found a $100 dollar bill in a parking lot. I've also lost money. When I was 16, I lost $80 inside of Nike Factor Outlet store so I guess sometimes we are the recipients and other times the losers. I always look around to see if someone is looking frantically on the ground before I leave the scene. Beyond that I don't go around asking people because you'll never know if they are lying about whether the money is really theirs.
Has anyone mentioned (gasp!) weight? When I weighted less -- about 110 lbs -- I was always cold going out during the summer. Now, 50 lbs heavier, I rarely worry about getting cold in an AC building. With the propensity towards obesity in this country, it's no surprise people want it 70 degrees in public places. I miss the days of having to throw on a sweater because I was cold in the middle of summer. It's another goad to keep me working at losing the weight I've gained.
We received an excellent homemade gift for Christmas last year. It was a large canning jar with layers of flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips, etc. Attached was a little stationary with instructions to dump jar into a mixing bowl and just add eggs and shortening, then bake.
Great comparison - thanks for the research!
If there is little difference in price between a companion offer and buying the tickets straight out, it's also worth calculating the extra benefit buying the tickets outright can provide when it comes to frequent flyer miles. (I travel the world full-time, flying mainly in business class for less than the price of economy, so I have some degree of expertise on this matter!) :-) http://www.wisebread.com/the-travel-hacking-cartel-fly-around-the-world-...
Ok i would just like to say i am 18 and i live in an area where a good job is hard to come by and where few good banks exist. and honestly even if the card is unsolicited it probably came through a legitimate way. IMHO a prepaid card while it does have fees when you compare those fees to say a Credit Cards 10% interest a month and possibly a monthly membership fee a prepaid is very cheap. and i personally am looking at a prepaid debit card so my family can shop online as right now we are limited to what we can find in a store.
I use the excel sheet to keep track of all my credit card due dates and payments. This way, I can also check on the total amount paid for credit cards and balance for each of the cards.
Once you have been with a bank for over a certain period with good track record of payments, you can write in to request for lower interest rates.
Currently, I live in a townhouse, but I would love to get off the electrical grid. Someday, I hope to either build or convert a home to meet those objectives. Living in southern California, I would probably use solar power on the roof to heat the water and provide electricity/heat.
One comment with the battery: The last time a AAA technician changed my battery he connected a separate unit to maintain power to the computer that runs the car, prior to removing the battery. He told me that if this is not done, the computer will lose its previous settings and in some cases (he mentioned Saab) the car engine will lock down and will need to be towed to the dealer in order to be reset and started.
I can't afford a financial advisor. Pretty much the best I can do right now is to afford food and shelter on top of my student loan payments.

We don't have one. I do alot of reading on finances and DH is quite savvy in general. So we do just fine.

"make sure you don't end up living in a cardboard box." sounds like a shrude strategy to me! :D

Hey I made the community buffy video you linked and I really thank you for promoting it.

Thanks for the mention. I'm in great company!
The kitchen remodel makes sense. When I was house hunting 2 years ago, the way the kitchen looked either made or break the house for me.
We received an excellent homemade gift for Christmas last year. It was a large canning jar with layers of flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips, etc. Attached was a little stationary with instructions to dump jar into a mixing bowl and just add eggs and shortening, then bake.
Voila--Chocolate chip cookies!
I have some old modems I'm wondering if I can recycle. Do you know of any place that would take those?
Great comparison - thanks for the research!

We would love to cut our dependence on the power grid. Thanks for the info.

Er, if I'm truly budget traveling (sometimes yes, sometimes no), I'm not staying places that provide toiletries.
