I like all these ideas! How about hiding a few bills inside a picture frame? It won't be fire/disaster proof, but it's accessible. I would love to buy or make furniture with secret compartments. I love watching movies that had those are part of the storyline. =)

  • 10 Ways to Cut Waste When Feeding Kids   16 years 10 weeks ago

Good to keep in mind that dogs shouldn't get grapes and raisins! I cannot imagine how to keep them away from a dog inclined to eat them if you have toddlers in the house -- another good reason for us to put off getting a pet until our youngest is 3, I guess.

You know, I am probably not as lax as I made myself sound with choice about food. I always make them have some of the main course on their plates, and some kind of vegetable. But my then 5-year-old went about six months where she just did not eat salad, something we have before many meals. So, I didn't bother giving it to her. I offered her carrot sticks before the meal instead. And you know what? She eventually decided she liked salad again. So I figure, I'm glad I didn't spend six months dishing out salad that wouldn't be touched or arguing with her about it.

    Great list.

Another awesome "teenager" is Jack Daniel, which became a licensed distiller at the age of 16, almost 150 years ago.

My crazy demented grandfather buried 7000 bucks in his yard. Then he got really sick and had to be hosptalized. The only thing he could tell us was it was by the third tree. Unfortunately his yard was full of trees...Needless to say it was never found! Don't bury in the yard!

  • 5 Reasons Not to Apply for a Loan Modification in the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP)   16 years 10 weeks ago

I own a home and paid my mortgage on time for over five years! Then people where I lived started losing their homes and it hurt my customer base for my small company. I mean I have not seen anything like this the entire time I have owned my company (25 years). These greedy little piggy banks potentially cause the whole housing crisis and then got a bail out in the billions! I have been an honest business owner the entire time and paid my taxes. For what!? For them to give the Piggy Banks a bail out? The very Piggy Banks that potentially caused the crisis!? Like the idea of modifications or not, TARP received 591 billion dollars of tax payer money and if anyone is going to get a bail out, it needs to be the American Tax Payer! Can you imagine what bank made off just having $25 billion dollars?

So I would like to play a game of truth or dare with Bank of America concerning their press releases.

Truth: Did Bank Of America make any money on the 25 billion dollar bail out the Tax Payer gave you?

Dare: I dare BofA to give the following press release: "Bank of America is one of the world's largest financial institutions giving modifications to the American Tax Payer!"

Never the less, let us give our press release for BofA to read:

Which one do you guys think they will pick? I think they would pick Dare Before they would ever pick TRUTH.

Please stand with me and United Law Group and send an email to Bank of America that states that we will no longer tolerate their potentially illegal, fraudulent, irregular and abusive business methods.

One blogger named Terri sent me an email stating: "You won't believe it but while I was at work today I had a voicemail from an advocate from BofA. What do you think about that? No calls all this time, I respond to your email and I get a cal!. How do you like that one?

Divided we might have fell America, but united we must stand!

So please send your email directly to Bank of America and include the following:

    1. Your name

    2. Your complaint concerning your experience with Bank of America.

    3. Please end your email "I support John Wright vs. BofA Lawsuit!"

    4. Please send a copy of your email to johns-wright@hotmail.com

    5. Please send your email to both BofA link below and the CEO email

    CEO Brian Moynihan:

    brian.t.moynihan@bankofamerica.com

    BofA Linked Email:

    https://www3.bankofamerica.com/contact/?lob=general&contact_returnto=&st...

The lawfirm representing me set me up with my own page with the option to comment. Since I have a lawsuit against Bank of America, I am sure they will view the page. Please show your support by going to the site and showing your support with your comments about your situation.

    You can do it at:

  • Quick Vista Hack to Get You Browsing at High-Speed Again   16 years 10 weeks ago

Ok,  I am not a computer professional, so try at your own risk, but I had constant problems and tried this.  It helped, but my final solution was this.  Go to task manager and select services.  Open the services window and select Network Location Awareness Service turn it off.  Now you will notice that you lose the network list service, which means your little icon at the bottom may not tell you if your network is connected or not, but blazingly faster browsing.

Doing the everyday requires an unusual amount of commitment and drive.  When you do the same job, same routine and same everything it drives you crazy.  You must keep in mind what is important to you to continue.  When you consider your motivation always consider your offspring.  Even if you have no drive for the everyday you must at least do what is necessary for your offspring.  You made the decision for them.  They had no choice.  All that is left is that you give them every tool possible to find their own path in life.

  • 12 Cool Things to Do with Used Dryer Sheets   16 years 10 weeks ago

Yep you can use them more than once. It saves money down the road and I like saving money. They also work well to take static out of hair. Just quickly smooth them over your static filled hair and bam! static gone.

I agree with Chris, Anna and everyone else . . . Come on, only guys have founded good companies? What is the author saying? Girls are incapable of being successful?

  • 12 Cool Things to Do with Used Dryer Sheets   16 years 10 weeks ago

I've used them to take the soap scum off of your shower door...Works great, not toxic fumes.  I've tried the ones that have been used in the dryer already, but they don't work quite as well....you need the fabric softener stuff on them.

I have a feeling that some parents were the reason behind their children's success. They probably handled the paper work. Either that or the kids hoodwinked a lot of adults. It's always encouraging to see people succeed in their endeavors. Now if only I had some of that entrepreneur talent in me, that would be nice.

  • "Can you spare a square?" 5 quick tips on toilet paper usage.   16 years 10 weeks ago

I've recently worked out a way to use 2-3 squares each time I 'sit down'.  It's difficult to achieve this, and I feel utterly foolish -- knowing that businesses waste colossal amounts of paper every second.

I didn't know there were easy bidet snap-ons available - I'll have to look into that.

  • Ask the Readers: What Motivates You? (Chance to win $20!)   16 years 10 weeks ago

What motivates me? What gets me through each day of hard work, full of trials and tribulations? A picture paints a thousand words, right? I'll let the photo do the speaking.

That's what makes each day so damn awesome!

  • Ask the Readers: What Motivates You? (Chance to win $20!)   16 years 10 weeks ago

I'm in sales and when some people hear that, they cringe. I ask those people if they ever emulate their lives after anyone. They usually tell me it’s someone who has been a helpful person to the world. I think of sales as helping people who might not know how to do something, being helpful. Think of your actions as helpful to someone to motivate you. Also, repeating the following mantra will take a lot of pressure off to help motivate. “No one expects me to be perfect, No one expects me to have the perfect job, No one expects me to have the perfect life.” Seriously, try it for a day, it’s truly liberating.

  • Ask the Readers: What Motivates You? (Chance to win $20!)   16 years 10 weeks ago

My friends motivate me. We have a gmail thread that's ongoing (about 12 of us) and there are two or three hundred messages in a day sometimes. I don't read everything everyone says but there are people from all over the world, five different time zones, so every time I need a breather SOMEONE is going to be there. They keep me going.

  • 10 Awesome Companies Built by Teens   16 years 10 weeks ago

My thought too: Any female teen entrepreneurs? I kept hoping as I scrolled down the list that there'd be at least one.

I wonder how these kids got around not being old enough to sing legal documents.

My inspiration is my Daughter. I am a single Dad and I have my 6 year old Daughters picture on my desk...If I get frustrated I take a deep breath, look at her picture and remind myself why I do what I do.
