This was what the rep at Penney's corporate told me.  I will make the correction in my story.

  • Use Less Cash for Your JCPenney Purchase   17 years 50 weeks ago

Shipping an online purchase to your local store is NOT free. Its not even discounted. That may have been true in the past, but it certainly is not now, I had the option just yesterday of paying $9.95 to ship a BRA to my home or the local store, it made no difference, the charge was the same.

  • What Would You Do: Pay Now or Pay Later?   17 years 50 weeks ago

I have two questions for you:
    1) Where did you put the allocated regular payment amount that you dind't use in the months when daycare wasn't charged to you?

You should be able to take the money out from wherever you allocated it and pay it right now. If you spent it then shame on you! You should not feel bad about taking the money out of your home improevment account, it was not meant to be there in the first place.

    2) Where do you live where you can get decent daycare for $200 a month?

We're paying over $800 for our 3 year old and we're about to start paying close to $1,000 for our newborn. That's over $1,800 for two kids in daycare, not accounting for the price increase that is about to hit in August.

  • Dealing with Nasty Debt Collectors   17 years 50 weeks ago

Debtors win, creditors and collectors lose. hahaha you rude bitches! debt collectors wouldn't be so aggressive to your face, they hide behind the comfortable anonymity of their war dialing machines. the best way to deal with the pussy ass losers is to initially be calm and nice and say you would like to make a payment ASAP and that you just need the name, phone number of their office, and address to make the payment to. then change your attitude and let them know that for every call beyond ONE CALL that make to you per day, you will call them an UNLIMITED number of times until they get the message to remove you from their list. then simply call their office over and over and over and over again. they will have to answer every time because you could be a legitimate caller.

And to the creditors and collectors on here who say "pay your bills and be responsible" I say **** you and mind your business. you don't know my circumstances and i don't have to explain them to a stranger. basically you should have been smarter about who you give money to. you won't be paid back, and i will forever laugh at my win and your loss, bitches.

oh and if i'm supposed to worry about my sullied credit report, why should i? i don't need good credit when i have PILES AND PILES OF CASH that i will never pay you with HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    fuckin faggots....

  • Special offer: 250GB online storage account for free - UPDATE   17 years 50 weeks ago

I have the ability to work from home on occasion, and there have been many times where I've ended up having to go down to the office to email additional files to a client. I have yet to find an easy and convenient way to have everything available all the time, wherever I may be.

Having a way to just put all current client documentation and files online and accessible at home would not only make life easier, but would save me an untold amount of gas driving to and from the office on days I didn't expect I'd have to do so.

Thanks for giving me a chance for this.

  • Try Indie Products for Cheap with a Sampler!   17 years 50 weeks ago

The samplers are usually available monthly, so we just a day left in the month, I thought it was a good heads up (even though most are sold out for April, there are more coming in May!)

And I understand that a few of the places throw in goodies for guys, but it really differs from  month to month.  I believe that they have done a whole "guy" sampler at various places in the past.

    Happy Shopping!

  • What Would You Do: Pay Now or Pay Later?   17 years 50 weeks ago

I would pay it all now, also.

Payment glitches really tick me off. Even if it seems as though it's in my favor. If I've agreed to a payment plan or a scheduled payment, having that schedule disturbed sets my accounting off balance. I like to track things quarterly rather than monthly.

I am a photographer and this would be great for backup storage. I have lost (damaged) so many USB flash drives in the past two years. It would be great to have a large repository to place files that sounds so simple to use.

  • Special offer: 250GB online storage account for free - UPDATE   17 years 50 weeks ago

This is one of those things that kind of gets to me. When a company offers something free like this they have to realize that it is going to hit the netwaves big time. They should be willing to hold to their promises or just offer it limitedly in the first place. If I could be so fortunate to receive one of the remaining free offers, I would be grateful, if not eternally, at least til 2038. I do some file transfers occasionally back and forth between work and home and generally have to rely on my dying USB HDD. These are generally too large to transport via Gmail so I am stuck with that as my only option. Please help me out here. I have been trying to sign up since Sunday night.

When gas gets to 8 dollars a gallon in a few years, that forever stamp will be worth one dollar.

  • How to turn an $1800 stimulus check into $1980.   17 years 50 weeks ago

A recent reader of Wise Bread, I've enjoyed many of the tips and found some I used right away.

My husband and I are still deciding what to do with our check. We thought of splitting it and buying what we want. The Meijer deal is intriguing as we always need groceries (and they sell clothing and other general merchandise, too). Also, if we buy the gift cards on our credit card we get points on our credit card. We're still negotiating.

Similar to Sears, Meijer had this on the back of their weekly ad this week:

    Government Rebate Booster at Meijer

In case the link has changed, here is the text:

    Government Rebate Booster at Meijer

    Maximum $120 reward.

  • What Would You Do: Pay Now or Pay Later?   17 years 50 weeks ago

I agree with Banker Chris's comment that you should pay it now. The daycare is going to need that money if you want them to be able to buy supplies and pay salaries in the near term. Just be happy with the interest you should already have earned holding onto the money that rightfully should have left your hands months ago.

But aside from that, this was a budgeted expense, so what happened to the money that you had earmarked for the preschool tuition? Did you go spend it out-of-budget on something else? You should still have that money sitting there, and if you were actually monitoring your spending against your budget, you would have noticed after 1 or 2 months. Even if you do something like have Quicken automatically enter the transaction, you should have seen that transaction being held over once you reconciled your account that second month.

So I don't sound all high-and-mighty, a similar situation happened to me last year, where I allowed some home improvement projects to consume money that should have gone to our church. When I finally realized what was happening, we quickly moved to get caught up on our monthly donations from savings.

  • New Postal Rates Are Coming, Should You Stockpile the Forever Stamp?   17 years 50 weeks ago

MMMmmm...I stand corrected at least as far as their stated policy.

I do understand the old reasoning I went by...without a notation on the stamp of its denomination/cost how would a postal clerk in other than the US know how much it was worth..and the Forever Stamp does not have one.

I was sending cards to Malaysia and the postmaster told me the stamps I had then with just the letter on them and in other countries it would seem I was using nothing more than stickers like you get from gumball machines instead of true postage stamps.

  • So You Want to be a Landlord? Part II: How Do You Actually Make Money?   17 years 50 weeks ago

I was in a seminar with a high net worth counselor who said that the best thing you can do is pay off your principal residence as soon as possible. Any thoughts on that? I currently do not have a mortgage on my principal residence with an appraised value of $400k.

  • Use Less Cash for Your JCPenney Purchase   17 years 50 weeks ago

In my area, shipping to the store is NOT free. They charge based on the zip code of the store - for me it ends up only a dollar or so cheaper than shipping directly to me.

I'm also on their email list, which means that I get at least 2 or 3 emails per week, often offering free shipping or a percent off. They also offer a $$ off coupon on my birthday and at other times of year.

Post them here. I can't be everywhere in the US, so I can only give you the national deals I've heard of. Where is your local used car dealer JBB? People in your area may want to check it out.

  • What Would You Do: Pay Now or Pay Later?   17 years 50 weeks ago

I had a similar situation with my son's daycare about 2 years ago... They had a staffing change in the front office and the billing didn't continue as usual and it took them 3 months to get a bill to people. Long story short when the parents got the bills several of them were outraged and so the daycare offered "interest free repayment plans" to soothe them. The downside was that since the daycare had no income for 3 months it had caused a cash crunch for the daycare. Lets face it most daycare/preschools don't bring in the big bucks.

So one thing that you may not have thought of is that if your preschool hasn't had any revenue income this entire time and they very well could have bills to pay. Yes it maybe their own fault for not getting invoices out BUT do you really want the place that your child spends most of their day behind on their lease/water bill etc?

In the end several parents including myself prepaid for a few months of daycare to help out while the other parents took advantage of the "interest free repayment plans" and let the money sit in their savings.

So I'd say pay it all now if you can. The karma will do you good in the long run.

A local used car dealer is offering to double your stimulus check if used to purchase an in-stock car. There're better deals around than +10%.
