Netflix is a good option because its subscription rate is cheaper compared to weekly trips to the cinema. The site has a lot of good titles in its catalogue.
Great post, nice to see some discussion about the "end of the rainbow" for a change. Inmthe PF world we focus so much on frugality and budgeting its easy to forget that tere's a reason for all of it. Good work!
Financial freedom gives you the luxury of choice. And choice = freedom to do what you want, rather than have to do what you don't. I would love to quit my day job to follow what I love, when I want to and how I want to!
These are some great life changing suggestions! Most people want to change their life (for the better) but always hit a wall when they come right up to the decision point. Some don't change until its a life or death situation - which is sad. The first steps in this article are key: taking a time out. Change does not come to your life until you decide you want it but unfortunately many distractions hinder the change we want. So this is key you have to decide you want change - you have to decide you want to change your life!
There are people on this show who buy things they don't even need. One lady buys diapers and she doesn't even have a baby. WTF! She buys diapers just because she has a coupon for. This is greedy. Most the people on this show are too greedy, unless of course they donate this stuff to help people/charity.
I went to the dollar store and got a 5 gallon trash can with snap locks on the side. Works fine. Reusing grocery bags in them is a lot cheaper than Diaper Genie refills.
totally trial and error. With my 1st, my dad got me a very nice high chair, but remember telling my husband "this is nice for her, but a comfy booster would have done just as well, With less to clean.
My favorite places to shop are children's resale and consignment shops. And when I've hit a good yard sale for baby girls clothing (21 mos. & 4 mos.), that's Jackpot City! Of course I love to buy my daughter new things, which I do, but the majority is gently used pre-owned clothing. They grow SO fast! The wipes warmer is on the top of my list of JUNK! And consumers fall for it because it's a "sweetness" for our babies, but get 'em changed and keep moving on. Babies are resilient little cuties; I'm sure they'll bounce back from the tepid feel of a wipe making their bottoms clean.
Aldi's has always been my favorite store to shop, but lately when I went there to shop, I noticed a big increase in prices, the prices are almost the same as going o Krogers and Riesbecks, I may just start going to More For Less which is now cheaper.
I loved the app that tells you when the next bus was coming in Chicago! (Saved us time at the bus stop when that particular route had stopped running for the night!) :)
I own a boxee box, among other things, it streams netflix. Getting rid of cable, has saved me over 80 dollars a month. If I can't watch a show/movie on netflix, I can down load most shows/movies on the internet, and watch it through boxee. It has paid for itself in two and a half months. I don't regret getting rid of cable.
We have deigned such an ICT system for the last 6 years now. If you are really interested don’t hesitate to contact for school cloud demo which not only do homework but includes the lesson, messages, discipline etc. These projects are basically community based as it is too big to handle individually. Sometimes school cloud is referred to as distance education.
I watched a few of these shows. Some of these people, I think, are hoarders, and have issues. I HATE it when they clear a shelf!! I hate going to find something, and having the shelf cleared. I always wonder if it's just coincidence, or if it was an extreme couponer.
I've tried coupons myself, and ended up being extremely frustrated! I buy a Sunday paper for $2 or $2.50, then all I see in the paper are coupons for stuff like cat food, cleaners and makeup I don't use. Plus, the stores where I live just aren't convenient, so I just can't hit up 2 or 3 stores easily. Also, NO stores have double coupons around here. I've tried the coupon sites for tips and such, and just end up getting extremely frustrated. I spent HOURS one week trying to go through fliers, clip, plan my meals and match up with the sales. I ended up saving $7. Between not being able to find stuff on the shelves, finding very low value coupons, and feeling like it takes up WAY too much time for my efforts, I give up.
My time would be better spent doing other things, like maybe finding a part time job to bring in extra money.
Here is a copy of a letter that I sent today to Safeway because I am p--d off at their deceptive practices also:
I have a problem with how your pricing placards are placed; hopefully, it is not intentional, but lately after repeatedly find this issue I am skeptical. To be more specific, more times than I care to list, I find that in all of your stores the pricing placards are either several items away from the intended item or they simply have no price on them at all.
Please tell me that this is strictly coincidental in "All" of your stores or you are just using deceptive practices to assure higher sales revenue.
As you know, many people are either stressed out, in a hurry, or just simply are older patrons and are being taken advantage of. Whether this is intentional or shear coincidence, you tell me.
Frankly, I am about fed up with it and if one more employee tries to tell me that I should pay closer attention, I will no longer shop at your stores and put the word out.
If the latter (trying to use deceptive practices) is the case, shame on you because many people are struggling to eat.
Thank you and HOPEFULLY, I will get a satisfactory response.
Wow! There isn't much more I could add to this one other than "You don't enough in savings". Too many people (at least at the college level) believe that savings and investment are synonymous or that you can invest with or before you actually save. In reality its bad to do both. Saving is separate and never invest with what you save...not unless you want to be broke.
Very interesting. The very first section threw me off at the beginning but it is true. Many people jump into investments that they aren't ready for yet. You also brought up risk tolerance, hot stock tips and changing investment strategies...GREAT, GREAT advice. To remedy many of those situations I would suggest paper trading for at least a year to understand market cycles.
Good tips but wrong age range. As a college student, I tell my peers the exact same tips during personal finance seminars. The opportunity cost of waiting until 30 could cost a lot more that what shows up in a net worth statment. Time is money and the longer you wait the more you waste.
I am a preschool teacher and I cut paper towel rolls & tp rolls into small pieces (circular pieces about 1 to 2 inches wide.) When the kids have paintings, drawings, collages or any project on a piece of paper I roll the project and slide 1 or 2 of the roll pieces over it to keep it rolled. The parents appreciate getting that project home without it getting all folded up or torn up!
To each, their own. I don't think that anyone should be judging anyone else. If its not for you, then don't do it. If you like couponing, then go for it.
I was wondering why dry milk prices seem to be getting higher. Thanks for the informative article. Hopefully the prices will moderate out soon. I enjoy using powdered milk for making homemade mixes like dry cream soups and hot chocolate but our prices here put a box at almost $12 dollars for a box that makes 8 quarts. It's seems crazy high.
I don't watch TV so I've never seen the show. I do use coupons for pet food mostly. I believe we should all be stockpiling food and supplies. The stores only have about three days of food and supplies before they are empty. If we have a natural disaster or disruption in oil availability then what will we eat? Maybe we should get to know our hoarding neighbors. "Hey, can I borrow a bottle of mustard?"
I developed type 2 diabetes with my pregnancies (gestational), the diabetes did not go away after the second pregnancy. After coming to terms with this, I have able to control my blood sugars more easily when my weight is lower. In addition to cinnamon and green tea, I also use the supplements the Shilajit and Sprulina, with my daily multivitamins and a high protein/low carb diet - which can be a challenge since I'm vegetarian. When my glucose is between 83 - 110, I feel my best. Thanks for your article on the subject.

A small garden is also a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Also, the near free vegetables are healthy eating.

Worked great on 05/21/11 for Comcast in Philadelphia. Three months of HBO for just $1.99 activation fee.
