We usually sell to other family members. I have an aunt, who is always reselling almost everything anyone can have/find... I like that idea, but I think that most of the time, for most articles, you are actually loosing money and time (clothes, shoes)... Sometimes however, it is ok (electrical stuff, apliances, etc).
I have two good ones not mentioned here: 1) Wrap one around your disposable shaver that you use in the shower (ladies) so you'll have a good grip even with soapy hands. 2) To keep a casserole dish and its lid together while transporting to a potluck: Using two rubber bands, wrap one around the handle of the lid and one handle of the dish, then wrap the other around the the handle of the lid and the other handle of the dish.
I used to like Wise Bread. Reduced new post count and affiliate links coupled with "buy now"ism - bleh. In my experience as an internet marketer, these courses are overpriced, impractical (ie they contain no real actionable steps that will help you make money) and designed to benefit only one person - the seller (ok, and his/her affiliates).
I went searching for this conversation because I have just taken a part time job making about 30% less than I get with unemployment. I have been out of work for nearly a year and am on extended unemployment benefits that may even be extended further, but I really started to feel depressed and unworthy after being unemployed for so long and began to feel like I was becoming 'unemployable'. The part time job I found is my 'dream job', it just doesn't make enough money to even bring me above the poverty level, so I have to keep looking (while hoping and praying that the part time job might turn into a full time job is a decent salary). My quandary now is that I feel bad for the company who hired me since I know that they want someone in the job who is going to stay for a while but I know that I will leave as soon as I find a job making even 50% of what I used to make which is 2X what the part time job is giving me (the part time job is a several dollars above minimum wage). Should I feel guilty about taking this part time job, or is that just what the economy is demanding these days?
GroupOn is great. I also really like http://www.dealscans.com They have some great deals that aren't posted anywhere else! You never know what you'll find there.
I'm not sure about the physical health aspect of drinking red wine every night but for me at least, the benefit of drinking just one glass of a good red wine at the end of a very hard/long day is immense as it immediately chills me out and lets me reflect and that is fantastic for my mental health well being.
In our office we always make sure that we do simple things like double sided printing, reduced size printing and if there are any mistakes then the team must use those ruined bits of paper as notepads. It's amazing how much we have saved on printer cartridges and paper.
Why don't people just face up to the fact that they have to take responsibility for their actions. No one else can do it for them so it's simple...stop spending beyond your limits or face meltdown.
Asking bankers to take personal responsibility in terms of the taking of their assets is just plain wrong. Yes, they should be assessed on their performance and action take accordingly but liquidating their assets? I don't think so.
Hello, I have a question about puchasing dried corn on the cob from the feed store and taking it off the cob then putting it through a corn grinder that makes it cracked, but not too big. Not as fine as corn meal but like chicken feed. Can this be used to make shine or bourbon. If it can be used, do you have a recipe for it?? How much cracked corn , sugar and yeast. Thank you on this idea..

derren himself says he uses a blend of magic, misdirection and psychology... the way he is using the embedded command of TAKE IT is really just misdirecting you... this is an effect invented by a mentalist magician named luke jermay called "big spender." where it appears you are paying with blank paper or monopoly money, its a magic trick and an illusion. look it up... believe me i was just as bummed as you are going to be
This is certainly not an "article" I would expect to see on WiseBread--it is an advertisement. I've never been disappointed with WiseBread before until now. :(
Frugal living is one way of adopting to the misuse of resources and over wasting of foods. I think what we need is proper waste management and a recycle way of treating leftovers. In this way, overspending on less important things may be decreased for a more wise buying decision.
We're a homeschooling family in Illinois and we hold garage sales every year and we shop them every year. There are two annual all-town garage sale days here, where almost everyone does their spring and fall cleaning by getting rid of things they don't need.
We've gotten some of our nicest furniture at garage sales, we're gotten a brand new $800 Proform Treadmill that someone bought and never used, sold it to us for $40! My son has gotten a weight bench and about $400 of weights and equipment for $30. We save a lot of money by shopping garage sales. My daugter's clothing is mostly from families who can buy brand new clothing, wear it a few times and then sell it for two or three dollars at a garage sale. As a single mom, I rely on garage sales to help stock up on clothing, gifts, and books for cheap.
Yard sales are great for items like used books and children's clothes and toys, but I'm not a big fan of them. It can take an awful long time to leaf through all of the junk in an effort to find a few treasures.
My wife and I have lived in our home for 8 years and in that time have had two kids and collected a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, our HOA won't allow us to have garage sales so we take advantage of the community garage sales held at the different high schools during the sping and fall. My wife handles the pricing of the items and seeks new community garage sales. I handle the loading/unloading of the items and treasurer. Thus far we've had two very successful sales this year with plenty of stuff available for the next one in the fall. By then we'll have plenty of items to take to the next sale. Quite frankly, we enjoy the little work it takes and the big rewards at the end of the day. We've even considered how we can turn this into a business.
I love the idea of treasure hunting at garage sales but usually find that I don't have the time or patience to really dedicate to it. Every summer I think "ooh, I bet I can pick up X, Y, and Z at tag sales" and usually by the season's end I'm still stuck with N and O luck.
If your situation is more serious or you just feel plain overwhelmed, you may want to talk to a debt counselor. If you decide to sign on for a Debt Management plan, be sure to monitor your credit bills carefully. I have been working with http://www.debtguru.com/could-debt-management-help-you and have been extremely happy with their services. I hope this helps you.
Nope, no yard sale. Not enough foot or street traffic in the suburbs, and no space in the city. I'd rather Craigslist it for free knowing that it will go to good use for someone else.
Thank you for sharing your insight. I hope to instill this wisdom on my 3 young children so they grow up to have a healthy relationship with money. I regret that I did not have this understanding in my youth, and suffered great consequences as a young adult. Keep up the great work!

I would shop them ,but never have one.
The people that want a discount on a shirt that you have priced for 50 cents drive me up a wall!

I don't generally go to garage sales, but I have had a few of my own!
