Thanks for the advice, it was truly helpful.

  • How to Make Moonshine   14 years 6 weeks ago

    Rebel,

No need to mix them. The reason it has a lower % in the beginning, it was not done fermenting. The fast growing yeast will go to 14% in 48 hours, the slower yeast will keep going at a higher % level. More then likely, the fast yeast has died from alcohol poisoning after 14%. All this is relevant to the sugar you added. There is a direct relationship from sugar to alcohol. The yeast can only survive to a certain %. With different strains of yeast, it performs differently. The whiskey yeast is more likely just yeast or with specific taste to it.

  • Travel and Money: How to Get and Carry Cash Safely and Securely   14 years 6 weeks ago

in my opinion, there are 2 method to keep your money while you are travelling:

    - Keep money under your clothers
    - Put your money in master card

  • Knowing Your Triggers Can Prevent Emotional Spending   14 years 6 weeks ago

A lot of the triggers are external. In my case, it's hard to be around 20-something year old friends who still live with their parents and have a lot of disposable income. They have new Apple gadgets on occasion, take cabs instead of the train and eat out all the time.

While it's tempting to keep up with friends, it's important to acknowledge that my lifestyle is different from theirs. I've moved out and pay bills every month - therefore, my priorities are different. It's difficult to say no to an invitation to dinner or a movie, but sometimes it's necessary.

It's shocking to me, though, when a friend who makes a lot of money and lives a luxurious lifestyle (takes trips out of the country, drives an SUV) suddenly announces that she owes a hundred thousand in credit card debt. This only means that friends and family members who seem financially carefree/well-off may actually have little money saved up or are in huge debt - so don't let their poor money management skills dent your bank account by trying to keep up with them.

Awesome tips! I play video games too, and I like waiting for sales on Steam. As for flights, I actually prefer to book directly with the airline, instead of places like Orbitz - the last time my husband and I went through that, he had such a hassle checking in with his ticket. My biggest issue is finding cheap transportation TO the airport and back since I don't have a car.

I have a lot of books I don't really read anymore, too. Starting to hate how they're piling up. Once, I went to return it to Amazon, and they gave me a full refund AND let me keep the book. I think it might be a one time thing, but I won't complain! :)

The condoms thing made me laugh. Anyone who's offended by that need to take the stick out and chill. Prudes.

Thanks for the great tips, Mikey!

  • 5 Ways to Get Discounted Designer Shoes Without Using eBay   14 years 6 weeks ago

Designer Discounted (www.designerdiscounted.com) is a discount aggregator site - they publish all discounted designer items from reputable stores like Net-a-Porter, Barney's, Nordstorm, and European stores like FarFetch, Stylebop, etc. I bought a couple of Pradas and some Marc Jacobs there. It's a good site to visit if you want to see all luxury items that are on sale without having to visit all the retailer sites. It's a free service, too, as far as I can tell.

I heard about them when I went to the bank to open a checking account. When the guy there said that he would need to refer to me to some other guy to open something like that, I said I'd probably need to. But not right now. I looked it up and had Khan Academy explain it to me.

Mikey, I always love your articles. And I LOVE the fishbowl of condoms! They come in so many cool colors and packages that I bet they look artsy. I was pretty sure grown ups used this site but I guess not. Edward must let his kids play with anything they find. (And he must have kids since he's uncomfortable with condoms!) Yay for responsible sex!

The library is a great resource. Also, Target clearance always has "repackage" items which have damaged exteriors. Such great bargains. Who cares if the box of toothpaste is dented? You can stack that discount with coupon for even better savings.

  • How to Make Moonshine   14 years 6 weeks ago

With making moonshine if I have 24 hour turbo yeast it says on packet 14% in 48 hours 20% in 3to 5 days. What does that mean? The longer I let it set, the stronger the mash? I also have a packet of Whiskey Pure. It says makes up to 12% ABV. What does that mean? Can I mix both or one at a time? I'm bout ready to get going, just need to finalize a few things. I know I probably sound ignorant but i'm not. I'm just new to this stuff and need professional help. So far I love this website. Sounds like a few people have alot of knowledge of what to do. Once again I thank everybody for their input!
