One more is missing iwadi.net. It is present in several countries (some of panels use geolocation so you will not be able to use them outside your country) so I can make some extra money while on business trips, while waiting on the airports.

Oh yes, I actually take most of my vacation time from work to enjoy working in the garden during the summer and cooking the fresh vegetables. It would be much larger if we didn't have to have it fenced with tall fencing due to deer. We just love the fresh veggies and being able to share the bounty too.

We always have a big garden, maybe 5000 square feet. We grow most of our own produce.

Me too but I had good experiences with Lanla. It is because they are legitimate that they require your SIN and bank info. They actually file tax returns listing their consultants. I have been paid with no problem, and I talk to them regularly. Very friendly, helpful, and they pay promptly.

I have a garden in Maryland with raised beds because of heavy clay soil. In the winter, I have a hoop house covering about 1/2 of the garden which allows winter salad greens and herbs. It is quite a luxury to have that hoop house. The garden is surrounded by a six foot high fence to keep out deer. We make our own compost and have added 10 hens who contribute their manure and excellent compost scratching ability. Summer brings tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, basil and other herbs, lots of green beans. Our spring garden has peas and salad and herbs left from winter. Our fall planted spinach failed this year.

I live in Chicago and have a small city lot. I have raised beds and grow cherry tomatoes that my grandchildren and neighbors love to pick and eat, kale, Swiss chard, peppers, okra and beets. I use Ollas and rain barrels to conserve water and provide for my beds.

My husband and I always try to plant tomato plants each year, but we don't get too much more ambition than that. My husband usually takes care of them, though, b/c I tend to kill anything green!

I have been planting a large garden for the past 4-5 years. I plant all of the usual vegetables - cabbage, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans and peppers, tomatoes but each year I challenge myself to try something more. Last year it was celery, butternut squash and pinto beans. This year's it beets and planting heirloom tomatoes and peppers from seed. I also plant a huge crop of sunflowers and zinnias to attract beneficial bugs and pollinators. This year I'm adding cornflowers, marigolds and poppies. I have a small herb garden by the kitchen door that I plant oregano, basil, thyme, chives and green onions plus I have pots of peppermint, lemon balm and lavender. For me working in the garden keeps me grounded. I love it when a recipe calls for ingredients that I have to go out and pick them in the garden. I freeze, can and dry as much as I am able and it's a blessing when at dinner I realize how much I'm feeding my family from our own garden and not the grocery store.

  • The 5 Best Winter Tires   11 years 12 weeks ago

Had the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 and I wouldn't buy them again. They are fine in deep snow but horrid on ice offering no more traction than standard tires. I purchased them because they were the top rated tire on TireRack at the time for winter driving but quickly found that most reviewers must not have had other winter tires to compare them to.

Blizzaks are great but only the first 50% is the special rubber compound. After that wears you're left with normal all-season tire material below it.

Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice are what I swear by at this point. They're made with similar rubber compound to the Blizzak but the entire tire is made of it. They also last for years (4-5 winters). They work great in deep snow and handle awesome on ice.

As someone with a winter car that's FWD, manual transmission, and 300WHP (read: VERY easy to spin the tires in the winter), having good winter tires is a must if I want any chance of getting where I'm going. Living in Minnesota means plenty of snow. The Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice have been the best of the dozen or so tires I've tried in recent years.

I do not have a garden yet, but do have a couple half-barrel planters on my balcony in which I plant tomatoes and cucumbers. The rest is supplemented with CSA and farmers market purchases until I one day have the yard and space to grow my own.

  • Behind the Times - I learn about Keep the Change   11 years 12 weeks ago

This seems to be the same thing now (2015). It makes me unsure that they are actually giving me any benefit with the Keep the Change service. It just looks like subtracting more money from my checking account, especially since their website says that if there isn't enough money in my account, they won't round up the change

I have two 4' x 8' raised beds. I don't have full sun so I grow beans, green beans, kale, Swiss chard, garlic, and other greens. I also grow thyme, oregano, parsley, rosemary, cilantro/coriander. Great eating in the spring, summer, and fall! I had kale until January this year.
