We happen to have laptops and so I like moving my laptop to a file drawer or some other higher piece of office furniture so I can stand and do work on the computer at the same time. Throw in some stretching and calf raises like you mention and its great!
It's worth noting that some states allow unmarried partners (even heterosexual) to be covered under each other's health insurance. My state, Colorado, is one.
Better yet, plan a vacation budget before even considering a vacation. Be open minded on locals. If you have 3-5 in mind you're more likely to find a deal. Watch airfare starting 6 months in advance. Know your prices and be ready to scoop up a good deal when you see one. After deducting the airfare, see what's left to spend on hotels. Limit searches to your price range and choose the one that suits you best. Read reviews on tripadvisor and booking.com When your ready to book, go to the hotel website to eliminate any mishaps with 3rd. party booking sites. We 'cut the cord' 4 yrs ago when we realized we were paying $50/month for the syfy channel. (So NOT worth it). Being avid scifi fans, that was the only non-broadcast channel we used... plus lots of Netflix discs. Now we stream Vudu, Netflix and Hulu Plus with some pbs and other free services. Mostly over Roku (love Roku), but we have streaming 'backups' in our blueray and tv. We probably still pay close to $50/month for our video, but it's only for stuff we like and we don't find ourselves surfing that "Cable Desert" of reality show re-runs and community access... Very happy with streaming.
Personally, I use Mint and another budgeting app. Mint provides me great automated expense tracking and data, while my budgeting app is what I use on a daily basis. I could see this getting cumbersome for others, but it works for me.
Coming from a sports fan who has cut the cord. Most local sports are broadcast on a local cable network so you will not get to see them even if you get great antenna reception. You options are trying to stream local sports online through sites that are likely to be shut down regularly. But luckily as sites get shut down others pop up. The reception on these sites is pretty bad though.
But yeah, local sports teams are still blocked. Even if you think that the more important games will be on broadcast networks.... nope, I'm still not able to watch NBA playoffs for most of the games.
We were both pretty broke when we married, so the greatest financial benefit wasn't exactly tangible. It had to do more with combined experiences and skill sets. I knew how to fix/make things and he knew how to budget, do taxes and balance a checkbook.
When writing to a married lady and it's a birthday card you are sending to her, Should it be addressed Mrs. Mary Jones, or Mrs. Alfred Jones. or Mary Jones.
Retiring abroad is best, not just a different state. The world is too large to stay in the U.S. your whole life and things such as medical care, infrastructure, and general living is not only better in other countries, but far less expensive.
For me, chewing gum after a nice meal gives me that little burst of sweetness that satisfies my craving for dessert, especially after eating somewhere where the food is a little on the salty side.
iPad without a doubt is #1. It is my #1 travel companion and the best $500 investment I've ever made. Free wifi is so easy to find while traveling nowadays.
your recipe sounds great, I will also add brown rice and yes more veggies and fruit like apples. dogs love apples and so good for them. BUT dogs can eat garlic, it keeps bugs and worms away as well as its a natural antibiotic, dogs get heart worms by mosquito bites, well feeding your dog garlic keeps that at bay along with the vit B's.
Duh, I agree with you as far as not having a problem at hotels or renting a car using only a Debit card.
Tyler, yes rental companies let you rent cars with a debit card. I have done this several times with Enterprise and Alamo. The only thing is you may need to provide additional documents, such a plane ticket, etc., and you are good to go. Same goes with hotels, but they will simply put a hold on your debit card as stated above.
However, having a secured credit card would certainly cut down on all the additional hassle.
I have been thinking about learning a new language by computer app…but wasn't sure if it would really work. Now I think I should go ahead and take the plunge. Great article.

Mint.com - it's so easy to use and I love the visualizations to track trends over time

For years I've been old school and just using pen and paper, but I'm considering trying Mint because I keep hearing good things about it.

what exactly does a oil and gas landman do?specifically what are the qualifications on entry level needed?
If I could get 8% a year, I'd retire too...

I like to use an excel spreadsheet
I check my online banking every single day. Some days it is kind of depressing but when my balance is low I know that I can't spend on anything.

Great article, Mikey! And these are excellent considerations. Going to pass this along to friends.
I use the Mint app to track my budget :)

Great tips! I have my own budget, and also I only pay through PayPal, so I can easily count how much I have spent already.
I found that excel is the best tool to perform budget / forecast type of activities and its easy to use.
I use Mint for budgeting purpose.
