Yes, I spring clean. I do the windows and the glass on the outside doors, do some deep cleaning in the rest of the house, and also go throughout the house gathering up items to donate or sell in a yard sale. I also rake the yard, get the raised beds ready for planting, and clean the garage.
Some tips: When I rake the yard, I gather up the sticks to build "cages" for my raised beds. I also use them under my window boxes to lift up the liner boxes to the right height. The willow branches make lovely arches along the back of the window boxes also.
When my friends stay with me I make sure they do not clean or cook or do anything that a person on vacation would not want to do. When I visit my friends I do not go there to cook or help cook or clean after dinner etc etc. If I want to do that, I can stay at home. My friends know that and appreciate it. I would only agree that it is proper to take your friend to dinner to say thank you for the stay. When I stay with my friend in Napa I treat her to meals when we eat out. I guess if my friends were destitute I would eat out all the time rather than shop for my own food. Fortunately they are not.
Yes, I spring clean my own home. I've been doing it for over 40 years and also for a cabin rental agency for 4 years in a row. I consider myself an expert!
I am interested in a trailer that was listed on Craigslist. The trailer and seller are out of state. The seller has set up an Ebay account where the money goes, the trailer is shipped to my address with bill of sale and title. I have 5 days to look over the trailer and approve. The seller will only receive the money if I decide to purchase after the 5 days. If I don't, Ebay refunds me 100% and the seller pays for the trailer to be shipped back to them.
What's your thought about this transaction? Should I be wary?
Thanks.
Well thought out article, this is how I've practiced my frugality. Having been a frugal thinker for the past two decades now, and having just finished putting my daughter through college, I will be retiring quite nicely (unless the market totally crashes!) in mid / late 50's. #5 is key! I have a 15yr old truck & a 16yr old Porsche Boxster (bought 11yrs ago), utility and fun! I go away on vacations- local & foreign about 4x / yr. So I enjoy all this time while still remaining frugal! Good luck to all in your frugal path!
I usually owe several thousand dollars for taxes, and always charge it. Yes, there is a fee, but I don't carry credit card debt, and the points are great (currently getting double points on all charges.) So, although I agree with your article, I would clarify that there might be times where it makes sense - but only is you don't carry a balance!
This method work fine. But I recommend you to use some of those game boosts. It boost some of your stuff. It closes unnecessary programs and can be use for othe r things beside gaming.
I got one of these damned cards in the mail today too, only it's a MasterCard. I tried to call them to ask why I got it when I didn't apply for it, and they wanted me to input the 16-digit card number first! Not on your tintype, Mister! I'm glad I found this page; now I know it's some sort of scam. I sent them an e-mail, but I doubt that I will get an answer. So I guess as long as I don't activate it, I should be OK, but I wish I knew how to report them. It sounds like their practices are deceptive. I tried to find something out about them at Snopes.com, but there is nothing there.
I have received text messages telling me I have two craigslist messages with a link to click on to read them. Here is the most recent one: You have 2 new messages for your Craigslist item, to read them use : http://984.craigsvoicemail.click/too/?ref=(There were 8 numbers here which I deleted for this comment). I didn't have any messages on my phone so I figured it was a scam and didn't click on the link. I have no idea what that's all about.
But what if you have a plan.. or know what you want and just need to come up with about 3k to make it happen. we're already broke but this is our dream.. the resort we want to go to has the ceremony covered with a booking of a 4 night stay.. that's only $1500.00 but the other money covers the other expenses that the resort doesn't offer. plus it's out of our state so we have travel fees plus getting our families up there to be there with us.
we've been saving for 6 months and only have $500. saved.. we want all the money before we start putting deposits etc....
I attempt Spring cleaning, but never fully finish! Maybe this year I'll pay my daughter to help me. I really need to declutter my closets.
I do a few special cleaning things in the Spring.

Hmm but don't you have to pay interest and other hidden charges on the credit card payment ?

I'm 23 and I'm beginning to see the truth behind this. I don't want to wait until my 40's to learn this stuff. I figured I may as well start now.
