I shall be collecting my new car in two weeks. I ordered the top model and added a load of extras like an Electric Panoramic Sun Roof, Park Assist etc, plus the top-spec interior and exterior trim. I added a host of extras, and omitted a few I knew I wouldn't need. Buying used, I would be taking pot luck with these, as well as trusting that all was in good order.
I do a spring cleaning. It involves a deep clean of my apartment, but mostly it is when I go through my clothes and all the paperwork I have hoarded over the year and get rid of what I don't need anymore.
'Stupid' question...
So the more you travel, the more you earn 'travel points', right..?
But you would have to be travelling and so buying flights, hotels ,ect in the first place, to be able to earn any points at all, is that right?

We don't make a ritual out of spring cleaning. We are, however, starting to declutter some of the hides holes holding junk out of sight, like our teenager's preschool videos. It's dusty work.
Emerson Electrical? Really. Granted it's dividend is solid but the underlying business has some big questions. Sales in 2015 were down to $22.3B from $24.5B in 2014. According to STOCCS (http://www.stoccs.com/admin/stock/NYSE-EMR) their CEO David Farr is on record as saying 2016 will be challenging and he's actively looking to spin off / sell parts of the business that accounted for nearly 30% of 2015 revenues. I suppose if they get the right price and they end up with a smaller focused business things could end well... but it all sounds pretty challenging.
What about a custom made cat tree? I had one made and the guy painted the boxes and my cat won't use it! We never asked to have the boxes painted. He used barn wood for post going up n thought all boxes were going to be made with barnwood. Smell is awfully strong cat won't use it but not sure if it's just because of smell? It's airing outside. Guy never told us before making that it was non refundable but idk thought any one who runs a business would want their customers/pets happy. He said he could change it but we would have to pay for materials! Don't know what to do?
Yeah, I bought a new leather purse once, too. Thought it would last forever. Nope - it went for about 3 years of hard use and then wore out. So now I buy a $3 purse at the thrift store (sometimes I'm lucky enough to find a leather one) and use it until it wears out...then spend $3 for my next "new" purse.
Good luck with your leather purse - maybe it's better quality than mine was and will last longer!
When I do laundry, I cut my dryer sheets in half. I don't like my laundry so smelly from the scent that I can't breathe, nor do I like my towels so very soft that they won't dry. And I know that the fabric softener manufacturers are in business to sell as many as they can. Yes, I'm saving money by using only what I feel is needed- a half sheet.
I think reworking your budget to cover your immediate needs would be a better place to start. You're nervous and in a hurry to pay off a loan you took out because you knew you couldn't afford it. While it was for your new job and maybe that was a good reason, you should be more focused on how to make your mortgage payments on time than trying to pay off the camera in less than a year. Late fees are a budget killer!
The second priority would be to build up an emergency fund especially to deal with your cars. Having older cars is fine if you can afford it, but you can't. What I mean by that is you can't afford a car that is unreliable and won't get you to your job especially when you're behind on bills.
It may seem like you're "saving" money but it looks more like you're playing the shell game. It takes courage to put your financial life out there and I applaud your efforts. But maybe a trip back to the drawing board for a more thought-out plan on what to tackle first and why. :) Good luck!

I spring clean my home by cleaning windows and floors, decluttering and donating items I don't use anymore.
