  • Are You Wasting $300,000 on Lunch?   10 years 17 weeks ago

I worked all my life, I always took my lunch to work..I saved and saved what happened my husband was not able to retire when he wanted and we needed the savings..Now I am not a rocket scientist but savings is savings, my parents never owned a home, we do free and clear, they never had a car, we do free and clear, I walk everywhere and bike when I can I fractured by right shoulder and I am right handed but I manage. My husband goes to the Library each day, I clip coupons and we have tried ROKU for free, HULU for free and our only gave us 5 years of Netflix, how much time can a person spend on mini series and old movies, we get out and about go to the shore, take Amtrak to the big big city and I pack a lunch then tooo, we know the city and get a full lunch for less than $5.00 with beverages included this is crab or shrimp sammies mind you with salads, where the police and fire dine, the owner knows us and allows us to enjoy the fruits of his sons seafood ventures in his tiny café..why do people throw their money away? I have never understood that. choices and most people don't get to retire when they want now since 50 is the age most private companies want to get rid of their valuable employees, my hubs was in a union and the last to keep his job, most died one full week after retiring for what?? They never even got one retirement check, give me a break something is better than nothing!

I would love to take my family on a mission trip to some of the countries in South America, to see the beautiful countryside and the small towns and the Indigenous people, to be able to help communities in need due to poverty and to help make a difference in someone's life. I want to see and have my family experience first hand some of the struggles and problems of this region. There are many things that are taken for granted here in our country that are not as easily helped in many of the small towns of South America due to logistics and extremes of poverty.

  • 25 Things You Shouldn't Buy at the Grocery Store   10 years 17 weeks ago

Honestly, some of these tips don't make me ch sense, if you should not purchase bakeware at the store, elsewhere, so where is elsewhere??? Getting a free toothbrush at the dentist is once every 6 mths, and I think the average usage is 3, depending on the brush, what's the point in switching dentist, why not just get some coupons and buy up when they're on sale??? And sometimes buying milk by the gallon is not worth it, it's cheaper to buy at the regular store and a smaller amount. I just think people need to use common sense and do what works best for them. Saving a dollar here is not worth spending time, aggravation, energy, and fuel to get a cheaper price!!!

I want to explore Central America. I've been to the beautiful Mexican state of Quintana Roo, and I'd like to go to Guatemala for my next trip to that part of the world. I'd love to explore the ruins, enjoy the day-to-day life, and of course have a beach (or two!) while I'm there.

  • The Easiest Way to Avoid a Tax Audit   10 years 17 weeks ago

Got some news for you, and for your readers.

Lots of people cheat on their taxes and don't get audited (even so, don't do that, it's bad.)

Lots of people tell the truth on their taxes, and get audited anyway.

Telling people that being honest is a "surefire way to never receive one of those ominous IRS letters" is a flat out lie. You are pretty much telling people to not worry about a tax preparer or CPA if they are honest.

I assume you are honest. Wise bread has been in business 10 years, are you going to tell your readers that you've never had to deal with tax authorities at local, state or federal level, even though you were honest?

  • How to Sell Your Hair for Cash   10 years 17 weeks ago

Please do ur research on Locks of Love and then hopefully you will remove their name from ur wonderful website. Please refer a charity that actually donates to cancer patients. Locks of love neither donates nor helps kids with cancer.
    Thanks.

  • 5 Things You Should Never Buy With Your Credit Card   10 years 17 weeks ago

As a huge Dave Rampsey fan I totally agree. We use cash for everything and I feel good about the purchases I make. I used to dread the credit card bills, but now I don't get any!!! Yay cash!!!

  • 6 Times You Should Always Rent Clothes Instead of Buy   10 years 17 weeks ago

Very effective ideas suggested above reg. renting out clothing for special occasions, since it is not only economical, but also makes better use of things which is required to be used only once or twice in life.

  • Save a Bundle on Your Groceries: Consider Your Local Asian Market   10 years 17 weeks ago

For anyone looking for an Asian market in Tampa Bay (Pinellas County to be exact, but it is very conveniently located as I've found shoppers from an hour away or more!), look for MD Oriental Market. It is huge compared to what you'd expect, with so many options!
Very clean, nice staff, a place to enjoy a quick meal, and did I mention the options!?

  • 5 Things You Should Never Buy With Your Credit Card   10 years 17 weeks ago

Yes it is true that restrictive use needs to be made, when making use of credit card is concerned. Since buying or making expenditure through credit card is easy thing to do, where payback becomes difficult with time. So measures needs to be taken to make payment either through debit card or through cash.

  • Ask the Readers: How Would You Spend Your Dream Vacation?   10 years 17 weeks ago

Years ago, my dream vacation would have been a sightseeing tour of Europe with my husband and a tour group. Now I can see what I want to see in books and DVDs and it's almost as good as being there. Plus I don't need to feel guilty about flying or deal with the aggravations of traveling. A few years ago I very nearly had my dream vacation. A little before my oldest child graduated college, my husband and I and our four children went to Club Med Sandpiper, an all-inclusive resort in Florida. I loved not having to keep taking my wallet out. There was plenty to do for all ages, including supervised kids' activities, and we could easily and safely split up. We never had to discuss where to go for dinner because there was a giant buffet for every meal with something that appealed to everyone. About the only thing I would change is I wish there were more room for water activities. And maybe a waterpark. Not having to leave the grounds was so relaxing.
