The coupons we've always used most are the restaurant ones - we have saved alot of money AND tried new restaurants that we wouldnt have otherwise (and sometimes they become favorites!)
I have also in the past purchased the Entertainment book for a city where we were vacationing & saved alot on attractions & meals. Plus I bought the book later in the year (for summer trips) at an even bigger discount.
No vacations this year...but I'd love to win the book to save some money locally! Thanks for the contest!
I haven't bought the book in a few years. It's a nice book though! My kids used the coupons for free rides at Rye Playland here in NYC! Good deal! I also liked the 20% off at Mandee's. Thanks for offering this. :)
I will admit it I am FRUGAL. I love coupons so when I got my last Entertainment book our family made it our QUEST to use as many coupons as possible. Our favorites were the Entertainment Coupons. Buy one get one admittance into events in the Pittsburgh area as well as BOGO on food. We had a lot of fun using our book and since we got it the first year we lived in the Pittsburgh area we learned a lot about the area that we would not have had we not been searching for our DEALS. Would love to win one again.
Regional organizers screen potential members across the entire globe, so it always felt safe.
It allowed my family to travel through Europe and Asia, without paying for a single night in a hotel. We just hopped from family to family to family. A far richer cultural experience for families, at a far cheaper price.
Plus, we always had traveling international families coming through and staying at our house. Which was one of the most incredible learning experiences I have ever had.
Yes, different restaurants have different rules. Some say $25 off $35 only, and some places let you do $25 off $25. It depends on the restaurant and you have to read each one carefully.
Several of the comments mention advertising, especially TV, as leading them astray. I wonder to what degree advertising makes most economic models inoperative. Many of them depend on an informed and rational consumer, but doesn't advertising deliberately lead us astray and play on ancient drives and fears, leaving us misinformed and irrational? Wouldn't it make sense if we want economic theory to match what actually happens to restrict advertising to neutral recitations of facts? Likewise, how can anyone expect anything like a free market to function in the world when advertising, especially the TV programs and newspaper columnists are constantly giving us erroneous information?
To the degree that Wisebread can influence us to work on making rational decisions, that'll be useful to us. But it will probably have to multiply its readership many times to free up those markets.
this is a good post, the cpm for this site does not seem to bad as most people are complaining about.. would be a decent way to make money in your spare time
Just be careful. The fine print indicates that you can only use one gift certificate per visit. So, you cannot use 2 $25 certificates to pay for a $50 meal. This is true even if you and your dining partner get separate checks or even sit at different tables.
"The classic simplicity book Your Money or Your Life suggests translating all prices into "life energy"--the number of hours you have to work to earn the money to buy the thing."
I guess the only problem with that is that in the moment that's the last thing you feel like doing. You're looking at your shiny new toy and it blinds you from logical thinking, thus leaving you in the original predicament...
I like your idea of looking at the things you already own and seeing them in a new light. I've done that a few times myself and come out with some very useful "used toys" I didn't know I had.
I can't speak for the US iTunes cards, but in Australia the local gift cards can often be found on sale at major retailers. 40% of is not uncommon, and 50% deals have been available for new store openings.
I've had a revelation this morning! I'm pretty sure I understand his actions now. He felt a loner & not sociable. Hence, put the extra effort in connecting with strangers. He crossed the line. I caught him. It hurt. Now I've learnt the reason.
It consumed a lot of my time, and ups and downs. It was difficult. But I understand now.
This was me. I had to learn the truth. I understand now. I think I can let go very soon. But I must remember to learn from the past, prepare a little for the future and live in the present.
Great tips, Nora. I think a lot of people still forget to be calm and respectful when calling customer support. Being irate does not help at all, for both parties. It's a lot like in business. Business prospects rarely approach people who are very hostile. It says a lot about the way you will handle future transactions with them.
by far, i think the best deals can happen when you think forward and use the entertainment book on vacation. in hawaii, the book definitely pays for itself with huge luau discounts that you can't find anywhere else and great attractions savings.
In the past my husband has suggested we go to the card section, pick out valentine cards for each other, read them and then put them back. It doesn't get anymore frugal then that! LOL
I have a digital recorder and would definitely like to get involved. I've been told I have the type of monitone voice that makes people want to save their money all day and night LMAO! Seriously though, this is great offering from, objectively speaking of course, a pretty cool site.

I remember using it for McDonalds and Wendys.
I like the coupons for dry cleaning - I can't believe how expensive that is! So saving some $$ on it is a great opportunity!

I just read the following news:
BCBS raises premium in San Francisco by 30%( SAn Fran Chron.)
Venezuela current inflation is at 30 %((CEPAL)
Greece has a current inflation of 34%(Kathemerini news)
Property taxes will go up in Florida(Tampa News)
Dollars are being printed like there is no tomorrow.
Outcome: INFLATION and big one. Am I wrong?
What is your suggestion?
If this post helped even a little, I'm glad.

Have a look at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/itunes for some of the deals available locally.
Are there not similar offers from US retail stores?

Give each other a spa night at home. There are lots of simple recipes online or you can get low-cost items.
My fave coupons are the ones to shows like Disney on Ice. Makes family outings much more affordable!
Thanks for reviewing Mahalo.
I don't think I will be joining them any time soon. Great review!
...when Paul Michael wrote a much lengthier, and more in-depth article, several months ago. You could have at least linked to it Philip.
