I do not own a e-reader (although people I know tell me that they are fabulous.) I know my habits, so I didn't think it a good investment for now. I use apps on my iPad, however, so I do own lots of ebooks.
I admit to having several half-read ebook on my Kindle app. Somehow, once I start a traditional book, I feel committed. I think I've read fewer of them overall, but have finished every one!
I did address somewhat this in my last point, as I LOVE getting 2nd hand books as gifts, and sharing books is one of the joys of owning them. You did add a good point about the ability for a seller to remove the right at any time -- which is really crummy, in my opinion. I've heard about this being done, and would hate to have that happen! E-books make me feel like I'm still working. Books can be warm and friendly. E-books are not and it's harder to relax with an e-book. There is just something about pulling a favoritve book out to read on a rainy day that makes you feel better.
Popeye Quesadilla: Spread pesto on a wheat tortilla. Top it with shredded spinach, a handful of mozzarella and some feta cheese. Top with a second tortilla and toast both sides on the stove top.
You missed an important point. When you buy a paper book, you own that book. When you buy an e-book, you are licensed to use that book (which can be removed by the seller any time they want. Amazon has done it) and you can not loan this book to others as many times you want.
A lot of this stuff is actually more late summer in terms of when it is the best priced and where you'll have options to choose from. Most patio furniture and summer clothing is long gone, and while you might find tremendous deals on what might still be there, you probably would have had better luck finding a good selection and still great deals 30-60 days ago.
I agree with you that traditional books are still valuable to keep a record of the various ancient teachings. Reading personal finance books increases our mental awareness and stimulates our mind and body to act in order to become financially successful.
I sure wish we could save at our local farmer's markets. The prices in the Tulsa area are equal to the grocery store prices but just a bit lower than Whole Foods. I'd love to buy produce in bulk to freeze/can. Warehouse stores: We have Sam's here, and the membership is $40/year. We save that much at the gas pumps, and we drive right by the store every day. Even if we didn't, we'd be in there every payday because there is a list of everyday basics that I can't get cheaper anywhere with any kind of coupons or by buying the store brand: dark Starbuck's $18.98, Da Vinci flavored syrup for our coffee $4.28 for the liter bottle, quart half and half $1.98, sharp cheddar 2lbs $4.78, 48 cans of cat food under $20, 3#bacon under $7, and 4lb real butter usually , well under $8. Produce can go either way, although bag salad is usually cheaper as long as we use it up. 10# russet potatoes are generally a good buy unless they're on a good sale at the regular grocery, and it takes a GREAT sale at the grocery to beat the 10# onion price. I generally share the bags of onion/garlic with a neighbor who also goes through them pretty quickly. OTC meds like store brand naproxin or ibuprofen are ALWAYS bought at Sam's. A large pizza, cooked there or ready to take home and cook and LOADED with toppings, is only $8. If we go in around lunch time, we usually get a pizza slice combo for $2.50, which you can't beat anywhere for eating out. I'd say that, if you're careful (we tend to go in with blinders on) I save a good $20 every other week on those things than if I purchased them elsewhere. Again, since the gas prices are about .04/gal cheaper, it's well worth the annual membership price. But if you walk the aisles and get everything that *seems* like a good idea, you'll come out of there spending big big bucks every time.

I'm thinking of getting an e-reader, so this is helping. I read a lot too, and many books that are given to me are printed, yet I like the idea of downloading and reading quickly, without the cumbersome laptop. Do you own an e-reader?
For now, it easier to resell traditional books or buy them used. That cxan save you a lot of money. Cannot be done so easily with ebooks. Also not having a ereader gives you limited options and you wont be jumping around ebooks without completing any
I have already noticed a large price hike in the meat products in the pass two to three weeks here in missouri. So they are starting already. We have grown our own garden this year and was pretty good and received fresh sweet corn free, all we wanted, corn can be used in many dishes. I dont think things are going to get better anytime soon, so be prepared. Stock up on alternative heat source and candles, lamp oil, whatever you get your hands on.
Even though we're in the age of digital magazines, my favorites tend to be 750MB + … which takes *forever* to download. So, I stick to my paper copies coming in the mail. I do subscribe to Netflix, for the once-a-month movie craving…still cheaper than going to the theater (and paying for a babysitter!). I just finished reading your article about subscribing to a meal-planning service…now I'm considering that. :)
Netflix and Weight Watchers are the 2 subscriptions I pay for. I got Better Homes and Gardens, Women's Fitness, Glamour, and Self magazines for free. I'm thinking about getting an audible.com account soon.

Traditional books can't be taken from you. When you buy something on Kindle, you're given a license to read it - not ownership.

Amazon Prime is the only thing I subscribe to, besides the cell phone, and gas/electric. No paid magazines, newspaper, cable, or NetFlix.
