Medical Transcription is also a great option. I am currently enrolled in a Medical Transcription program and expect to be working by the beginning of the year. Let me know if you have any questions.
I've been trying to get over this too! It's been better since we moved - and as another commenter mentioned - got rid of a bunch of stuff, including our "everyday" dishes. We did this because some very wise friends shared with us their dish-ware philosophy: "so what if it breaks - dishes are made to be used."
So now we use my great grandmother's dishes, which I inherited a few years ago, to eat our meals.
They have 22k gold plate decorations. It makes me feel awesome, if a little excessive, (and far richer than I am) every day - And I'm very confident that great-granny Fisher would be happy to see them still in use among her descendants. Although I'm not sure what she would make of tofurky...
Great article.
On the other side of the coin, being a small business owner, we use an app called QuikCoupon to create our own coupons for customers. It's great for attracting more business to us locally. It allows us to create custom coupons with our business name, details of the coupon discount, expiration, disclaimer, etc.. Then right from the app we Email the coupons to people in our networking group and post them on our facebook wall. Works great for us.
I am not afraid to ask a fellow shopper/spectator if they'd care to go in on a purchase with me....who needs 2 of the same knives, cleaning product, etc. You just split the purchase price and both get a deal. I have yet to be turned down with this proposal.
I bought an Entertainment book last year. It was during a blow out sale so I took the chance on spending $10 thinking I would easily re-coup the money. Sadly, I have not. The reason is because there are many coupons that I have absolutely no interest in. The ones that I do, have restrictions on them. For example, I saw a Dairy Queen coupon. I thought great, i can save $0.50 on my blizzard, but the savings was a free blizzard for buying a cake. I have no need for a cake, so there goes that coupon.
I never heard of/thought about trading coupons. I'm not sure it would work for me because as I pointed out, there aren't many coupons I would be interested in receiving for a trade.
I've been debating getting rid of cable for a few years now. I know I can watch network shows on their websites for free, but my issue is that I love sports and so far, there is no alternative to cable/satellite. That is of course considering that I don't want to sit in a bar all of the time to watch a game!
I do agree with you that storage fees are truly a financial drain. It is waste of money storing items that you are never going to use again. Instead of storing such items, it is best to give them away to charity and utilize the money to be given as fee for some other good purpose.
I so agree. I share a name with an attempted murderer, though fortunately I've never been mistaken for her, and don't live in the area. The singer/songwriter and the lawyer aren't nearly so awkward.
I do use my face on my site and social media accounts. It's nice to know that people will be able to tell when they've found me.
The only thing I can think of that I pay for is the newspaper. I have a couple magazine subscriptions, but those were from rewards points so I didn't actually pay for them. We occasionally rent a movie from Redbox, but not often enough to justify any kind of streaming movie subscription.
I glued sheets of corrugated cardboard together then cut in holes for my 60 piece socket set. All labelled and organized it fits neatly in the drawer of my tool chest.
I left Moscow in November of 2009 and traveled to Sourheast Asia, with only 150 USD in my pocket. I traveled for 1,5 years and ended up in Armenia last spring with 300USD. 17K USD a year?? Why would one even need that much money to travel?
Thank you for this post , and also thanks to all the other people who put their comments too. I did research a lot and was going to buy from getitdigital.com/ get it digital.com. I am most certainly will not. Thanks again for this amazing thread, this proves there are good people among us.
In September I went to NYC with a friend and we booked tickets for our flight that were much cheaper because we had a few connecting flights. Never again will I do that. It ended up costing more because one of the flights was cancelled in the middle of it, so we were stranded in Minneapolis for a night. We lost a day of our vacation and everything. But travelling during the week is definitely a good way to save.
Okay, I consider Amazon Prime a subscription service because I have to pay every year but it is totally worth it. I make the fee back in free shipping each year and make money on the deal buy not having to pay for many, many videos. Another bonus is my one free book a month I borrow through the Prime Lending Library. It is worth it's weight in gold. I don't really subscribe to any magazines anymore as my library loans them, and I do not care that I am reading them a month behind everyone else. I have had Netflix twice, and both times I found that I could get the movies/TV shows from the library faster.
Great tips! I may haven't had any clue on how much I would spend for full-time travel, but I absolutely would like to give it a shot, thx for sharing it!
I have a subscription to our church magazines, and also one for Country Living. I don't regret it one bit! It's like Christmas every month. :) Other subscriptions, I've found to bring on more clutter than anything else.
This article is misleading.
Balance transfer erms are very clear when you apply. No one forces you, one signs up to buy some time. If do not repay you have to pay interest or transfer again.
Rewards: rewards are clearly ,mentioned in all major cards, I have not such any lying anywhere.
Cash back: limit are known at application, and they are generally fare on major cards, if you don't like it you are free to not apply and use check or debit card and get nothing in return.
Repayment Hierarchies: this is taken of as of August 2010 after card act.
Try leaving the armor etch stuff on first to see if that alone will take the AR off. Don't rub the stuff around because I scratched my lenses when I did that. I ended up having to get new lenses anyway and now my frames have some mild white stains as well. Anyone know a safe way to get the stains off?

Excellent article, Meg - thanks for the reminder!

Hulu Plus and Netflix. My husband has a GameFly subscription that he's planning on canceling for at least 6 months.

I subscribe to Netflix, National Geographic Magazine, Popular Science magazine, and Pandora Internet radio (add free).

I love reading magazines when working out and currently subscribe to Time, Runner's World, Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and Self.
