Lately I have been using instead only a half/half mix of salt & baking soda (2 TB of that mix) in the clothes washer AND 2-4TB of the mix in the dishwasher. Only those two products and it has better results than I ever saw with detergent & I no longer feel like there are harmful residues on the dishes & clothes. I haven't noticed any static or a need for softener either and we live in a high static area. I used to notice so much static when I used detergent.
Not even on the Arm & Hammer website do they say you can actually just use baking soda & salt to clean clothes, I think it is so they too can sell detergent. Everyone thinks they have to have detergent! Our society needs to wake up & realize all these products pushed down our throats are bad for us & it is just more corporate greed.
I was thrilled to find that you really need only 2 products, and non-toxic edible products at that! PASS IT ON!! Happy cleaning!
I use to subcribe to the Sunday post newspaper only for the ads and coupons. I found out they offer a 'Sunday Select' for free which is only the ads and coupons so now I get them for free.
I subscribe to several religious and arts journals. I can't get them at the library. A couple are available for Kindle, so I don't have a lot of hardcopies taking up space.
Ummm... Maybe it's just me, but personally I don't think it's very frugal to pay a web site to plan your meals and then pay someone else to deliver produce? Strange article to have on a personal finance site.
Is there any chance you can join the Fresh 20, get two months worth of recipes, then quit the site? Or take that $10 and go to a used bookstore and buy one of thousands of used "simple recipe" cookbooks for $5?
Taken as a whole, the "life is busy enough" argument is what's making a lot people broke--they pay for house cleaners, car washes, restaurants, etc., instead of doing it themselves.
I subscribe only to Birchbox and Amazon Prime. I used to get the daily paper, but that turned into a disaster. It's a shame that our newspaper isn't more focused on customer service.
I think meal planning is ridiculous. It's just another unnecessary expense. If I'm going to cook, I might as well plan the meals. It's not that hard to come up with 5 dishes before you go grocery shopping. I'd rather buy new cook books than paying for meal planning. Different strokes for different folks. :)
We pay for magazine subscriptions like HGTV, Comsumer Reports, and we also
Get the daily paper and the Sunday paper. We had Netflix for awhile but
We never watched it so we cancelled it .
What a lot of ways. How did you think of the all? Most people know about rags, pet beds etc. but the ideas for a picnic blanket and donating to shelters were great. Maybe I can release my grip on a few of my old towels and use your ideas.
Rule #1 on my financial religion: Never Pay Interest on Credit Card, Always pay off the full amount. Personally, I never carry any positive balance for more than one week, and I aim at paying off everything on a weekly basis.
The best thing this holiday would be to make a commitment to yourself that you are going to save atleast 15% of your income and start investing for your retirement.
Our daughters subscribe to the Beer of the Month club for their Dad. He likes the different tastes that he normally wouldn't try because he doesn't drink much.
One magazine subscription for TV Guide and I also subscribe to Cox Communications for my cable, telephone and internet service. That covers all of my essentials for daily living.
That's funny you mention feeding the billions more people who are to be here by 2050. If we used the land and resources used by the factory farms for growing crops to feed humans instead of animals, no one on this earth would grow hungry. That is a whole other can of works, as I am a new vegan.
Another point is that by 2050 the vast majority of people will be vegetarian, and not by choice.

"Subscriptions"?!! Have you gone mad, man? I'll never get rich if I have those. Oh... Wait, I have a free one--it's called my *library card**.

I just got a subscription to Cooking Light. Most of the time though I get magazines for free because of my demographic.

I subscribe to magazines, but it's only because I got them with my airline miles or for a really great deal!
