Again, we're humans and we try to do one extreme or the other because we've always been taught to "do our best." Not realizing that the extremes keep us from being balanced in our lives. Which usually makes us miserable...
Great article! I think alot of people struggle with this. Personally, I would love to have the money for a down payment for a bigger house. But my first priority is to save for retirement and enjoy the present. I've recently relaxed our budget some because it was all work and save and no play. NOT FUN. I'm not going to live my life in misery like that, but I don't want to spend too much on "play" either. It's an interesting (most would say frustrating) balancing act to juggle and different for everyone.
I love the plastic hose idea. I am planning on making a bunch of these toys to bring to our local animal shelter.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can use the hose? I'm thinking put a treat inside but haven't thought of the best way to seal the ends...(help)
Also if anyone else has ideas that I can use to make toys for shelter dogs, please send them over. itsallfurthem@yahoo.com THANKS!
Good luck on the hunt. I've found that I do better to just come up with very basic routines, get in the groove, and then tweak and perfect as I discover what works or doesn't work about them.
Thanks for your military service, too, for so many years.
A great shopping tip my mon gave me was: if you really love it, buy it. Too often people pass us opportunities because they're worried about the financial ramifications, but there are emotional ramifications to denying yourself something that you really want.
It's counter-intuitive but so true! I've been in the military for 25 year and I've always said the military freed me to be my most creative self. What to wear, how to behave on the job, how to be successful in my company, etc. is all on auto-pilot, so my brain is free to focus on what's really important and interesting. I just retired this month and the number of trivial decisions I now have to make is overwhelming--just getting dressed in the morning can be a pain! I'm on the hunt for new routines.
My Mother was very thrifty. She had to be, she raised 5 kids. She taught me you can dress with style and class without spending a ton of money. She showed me how clothing should be versatile and should be able to wear with avariety of styles, colors, and moods. Get the most out of each piece you purchase.
Wow, seems like white vinegar could put Clorox out of business. :) Love these cheap cleaning ideas. Seeing the annual cost of things definitely puts these seemingly small purchases into perspective. I use the disinfecting wipes quite a bit in my household. They are so useful and multipurpose. But, the concoction suggested here as well as the comment below sounds like viable solutions as well. Thanks for the article!
If you work a job with constant schedule changes every week or every other week, do a couple no call-no shows and explain that you did not get a chance to see your schedule posting. That shows lack of responsibilityand is another way to get noticed...
Sometimes, the font style is the main reason why a page printed consumed more ink than usual. Changing font style to another style that’s still readable is usually enough.

Totally agree. Sometimes we try to bite off more than we can chew and think we don't need "motivation," but we're human!
Yes! Fairs! Being in the South, there is nothing but old timey fairs and festivals. My fave.
Super helpful!

Ha! I know, I know, fritattas and crepes... I guess there's always a trade-off.

Some of their husband were unemployed, so they had to do it.
