Yes we go to games that are local, school related, and/or minor league related to save money. Going on family nights and nights when they have deals like Thursday saves money as well.
We used the 5 S's for my son, who was swaddled at nap time, my daughter didn't need swaddling, but we used Enjoy Sleep Baby Nature's Miracle No-Cry White Noise CD instead of the shushing and we couldn't have done without it. Every nap time, we still put the shushing CD on and it really helps settles her down quickly which she didn't before. Recommend the 5' S's for any new parent.
Mostly, I go to my son's games -- that's enough for me! My husband has a once-a-year bus trip to see the Philles, though. Once of his co-worker friends gets the tickets, and they go and have fun -- food included! :)
Great article. I also feel like going slow is the best way to do it because it gives you time to reflect on how you got in the situation to begin with.
She told me to be sure to dress 1 step up from the workplace's daily attire when going for an interview. I have never missed landing a job following this tip!
If you have pot lids that tend to get hot, slide two or three tightly into the lid, that way, when you need to remove it, you just grab the corks, not the metal handle
I think it's just plain rude to try and say a second union for someone should not be honored in ceremony or in guest's behavior as a first. Two people commiting to each other is two people commiting to eachother. Period. Your budget for their gift should be less because they've been married before? Silly and disrespectful to the new couple.
I am SHOCKED someone has the nerve to disrespect their friends by saying a 2nd wedding shouldn't hold the same 'value' as a first. I am all for toned down for ALL weddings, btw, but if my friend remarries and wants to go all out for it, it's her choice. I won't look down my nose at her for it. I am remarried myself, and have been to a few 'next time around' marriages. It is not uncommon these days. My 2nd wedding was a bigger 'to do' than my first, and not ONCE did I ever hear any whispers people were less happy for me than at my first.
The author needs a serious attitude adjustment and needs to take a good look at what kind of 'friend' they're acting like towards their re-marrying friends.
You can try asking your doctor if you're eligible for a prescription discount card, drug samples or if he/she can prescribe generics instead. There are also state pharmaceutical assistance programs available to help those who can't afford their medicines.
The item I always get for others for a wedding gift is an oil lamp (with oil). It is a romantic gift, not something you would think about getting yourself, but very practical, especially when the electricity goes out!
I don't feel the need to go to sporting events anymore! Too damn expensive. I have a nice tv in my living room, a comfortable couch, and good food. Why would I leave? haha
While I'm not yet a mother - I always do DIY mother's day gifts for my mom. I think putting some effort and love into making a gift is worth far more than stopping by a store and spending 5min and $50 to buy flowers.
I like to purchase discounted tickets from scorebig.com which includes free shipping. I only go to a few games a year. It is usually cheaper to go to weeknight games. Sometimes teams have discounted tickets by offering some kind of promotion. Last year the Mets allowed you to buy discounted tickets for certain games if you were willing to donate at least $1 to McDonalds charity. Buying tickets in person is sometimes cheaper since you can avoid paying fees. Late in the season if the team is bad people are more willing to unload their tickets below face value. You can use seatgeek.com to compare ticket prices.
Thank you for this helpful resource! I have always traveled by air but I'm now ready to stop the madness/pollution and can't wait to try these other options.
The library in my hometown always had activities, and even more during the summer. Free yoga classes, foreign film festivals, etc. And you can always spend a hot day in air conditioned comfort, scoping out the magazines.
I respectfully disagree! I think long term, scouting for deals can save you a ton of money. Sure if you aren't careful, you could wind up indulging just for "deals" sake. But I am a firm believer in the good ol' gift closet!
I scout for deals year round so I can keep my gift closet well stocked. Never again do I have to rush out the week or day before a birthday party and pay full price for a gift. Instead, I just shop in my closet!
So, even though I might be biased (having a deal site of my own), I think that daily deal seeking can be a great way to save time AND money.

You should also check out Wanderable for honeymoon registries. I found them recently, and they have beautiful designs on their honeymoon registries.
I am trying this recipe today... I have a loaf baking in the oven and it smells delicious. Thank you for the recipe.

No, I don't go to sporting events. My husband has, though, as a guest with other people who have bought tickets to sports games.

Trupanion insures dogs up to 14 years old and includes hereditary conditions. Maybe they will work for you.
Super useful stuff!
