The only way anything gets "fixed" is by making it into law. And the way you do that is by writing to your congress representatives and/or voting to those who hear you - regardless if its blue, red, green or fuscia. This will never stop because we all want to feel better without worrying how much it's going to cost. If my mechanic tells me my car will be fixed with $8000, I will take a ride with a friend, the train, the bicycle... but if the ER tells you we need to make sure your head is not going to explode in 5 minutes, you'll go for that MRI no question about it - then endup paying the $8000. It has to stop, and the only way is for ALL of us to do it the way is done in America: through politics. Where it hurts them the most.
I LOVE BBQ potlucks. I'm bummed that I don't have space for a grill at my current apartment, but some friends I recently did a potluck in a park. It was possibly even better than having it at my place -- there was lots of room to spread out, and everyone helped clean up.
Thanks for this detailed step by step! Before reading this, I probably would have cancelled my credit cards! Whew! I also didn't realize the importance of reporting it to the police and DMV! So far, I have been lucky and haven't lost my wallet for good. If I ever do, I know how to handle it now!
Hoarders helps motivate me to keep cleaning also because I have hoarder-ish tendencies. It has also made me notice that my 11 year old sister is an extreme hoarder and I have been trying to encourage my mom to have her get help now before it becomes a bigger issue. This is a great article to sum up all of what we should be learning from that show, thanks!
To me, I somehow feel saver following a big truck, not only because it does not break as frequently as some of the smaller cars, but also the fact that I can always stop faster than it does so I feel more relexing following it.
Nope. There aren't many sports venues barring Nascar in our area(we don't have a pro football or baseball team either just minor league), so we really don't watch sports.
Very rarely. I have no taste for crowds, tickets are expensive, concessions are outrageous. and the best view is infron of the TV. The exception is golf - I volunteer as a marshal once a season, and there are no crowds inside the ropes. There's nothing like hearing the swoosh of a pro-speed swing, and I've picked up some good lessons just watching the players and their caddies.
Yes, we especially like to go hockey games and baseball games when our favorite teams play our local teams. To save money we typically only go a couple times each year. We would love to go more often.
I make PLENTY of money and don't "need" anything extra. I only do surveys when I feel like it and when the price is right. By the way, $1 for a one-hour survey would be pretty ridiculous, and I don't think I've seen anyone offer something so small. It's usually $1 for every ten minutes (yes, still meager if you're considering it more than just some fun extra bucks), but there are surveys that offer more.
If your boss recently hired a new teammate, and you suddenly got kicked to the curb, the project you are working on no longer seems like priority, and your boss are super buddies with your new co-worker, and hangs out with him all the time, that's a sure fire sign your job is on the line. It just happened to me.
I agree my favorite is mixed in pot pies. My kids aren't crazy over mixed veggies so i "hide them" in dishes such as....Potatoe pancakes & fried veggie nuggets ( comes out like a corn nugget,.. anything fried the family eats). when camping i've dumped a bag of veggies, a can of soup (undiluted) & served it over wavy noodles or rice. i even snuck them in leftover stroganoff with added cheese. (yummy!)
I've discovered minor league baseball! The stadiums are much smaller, so you're close to the action. The tickets are much cheaper; $10 for the best seats in the house. And since it's a AAA team, the action is still pretty good.
We are a sports loving fmaily and have found numerous ways to save on tickets and the whole experience. We do look on Stubhub for cheap tickets and the very best tip I have for food is this-
We will take a package of all beef hot dogs and grill them at home. I would then place them in a thermos to keep them warm. I threw those hot dogs and a package of buns into a bag and carried them into Coors Field. Once inside we would use the condiment stand and load up the hot dogs for a real ballpark experience. For the cost of one hot dog bought inside the park, I could feed the whole family.

You also forget to include another great coupon/deals website: http://www.dealhoster.com
You are welcome!
Thanks for the include, Ashley!
I'd love to hear what other frugal, meaningful things folks are doing for their mothers this year -- or best Mother's Day gifts from years past.

I love these ideas! So creative!

I go to sporting events, but I am required to for my job! captainliss40(at)gmail(dot)com
I'm almost completely uninterested in watching sports. If I watch anything, I watch it on TV.
Great post, Anna! And congrats on paying off $23,605.10 in debt in 15 months! That's amazing and super inspirational!
1 tsp on vinegar will immediately take away indigestion.

I like WiseBread on Facebook.
No, I don't go to sporting events. The only sport I watch is NFL, and I watch those games on TV.

Go camping for the weekend! Even after the park fees, i have enough for something special on the grill to enjoy.
