I check it once every four months. I use my free credit reports spaced through the year. If I were looking to change insurance or to buy a home, I would check it before doing that as well.
One of the things I love about living in Kenya is the carrots. . . oh so yummy and sweet! You are right, there is a "carroty" taste missing from baby carrots. (Though, honestly, it does take me longer than 15 seconds to prepare -- most of my carrots are pretty dirty when bought. Even if I didn't soak them in vinegar water to kill the buggies first, it takes awhile to wash and scrub.)
Andrea...I think you are my long lost sister! haha...
I gave up buying fancy coffee and opt for creamer and black coffee...but CANNOT give it up completely.
I refuse to express my dogs anal gland myself so pay $25 per month to take her into the vet and come out all nice and "refreshed"
I TRIED giving up television...I did. Hulu and Netflix and a laptop hooked up to the TV all the way...until Thanksgiving and my grandma "needed" to be able to watch the nightly news and check the weather on the weather channel...lasted maybe 6 months now we are back to cable...with the movie package. #fail.
I TRIED to go back to black (my hair color), but I love the sun kissed glow of highlights.
Finally - I live in San Diego...the two speed limits are fast and faster. And if you go anywhere less than 20 MPH OVER the speed limit, you're going too slow and are a hazard on the road.
Sigh. Oh yeah, and giving less...im a sucker for donations. So I started donating stuff instead of money. Goodwill LOVES when I roll up with my bags of stuff. Im a natural purger so it works out!
Every 4 months. In my state, you get a free report each year from each agency. Staggering those throughout the year means "checking my credit report" takes less time (because it's 1/3 of the info to review), and gives me a chance to recognize fraudulent activity a little sooner (depending on which bureau the account is reported to).
I actually check my husband's as well, which I also stagger, so every 2 months I'm checking some sort of joint credit for us.
* Small note - a lot of people use Credit Karma to check their credit report, and I've seen a lot of blogs that mention it doesn't ding your credit. Not true. It shows up as a 3rd party query, but only on 1 of the bureaus (I forget if it was TransUnion or Experian). I didn't find this out until I was applying for a mortgage, and it cost me a couple of points.
I have discovered that one of the most efficient ways to get real productivity done in the day is by using the pomodoro technique, and stopping work at a specific hour everyday.
Not to mention that one should never work on the weekends.
Three times a year, about every four months. My husband and I both review our report from one of the three agencies. We have never had any discrepancies, so this is a great way to split up your free annual credit report throughout the year and keep track of everything.
I don't review my credit report. I don't want to spend money on it, I'm too afraid of hurting my credit by checking on it and I don't want to get a free credit report because I believe all of them are scams. I'm sure after this you guys will come out with a great post about if I should get it done and where but until then I won't be looking at it. The last time I looked at it was when we bought our house and I'm sure it can't be much worse from then.
I enjoyed reading the article, and I sympathize. But the addendum identifying imperator variety as a quick grower and sweet variety is purely incorrect. I grow carrots as part of my living, and anyone who does so would tell you that they take longer to grow than the other main varieties, and are more fibrous and less sweet. I don't know which variety they use for baby carrots, but please change this information to maintain the acceptability of an otherwise good and informative article. Thanks!
Usually once a year, but lately, I have been checking once every 4 months, since I can do the free check once a year with the 3 differing credit companies. It has been interesting to see what our credit rating is and how little it has changed over the course of the year. Hooray for good credit!
when i was first separated from my ex, I checked my credit report often because I found out he opened several accounts in my name. (about ten of them and went to town). I couldn't rub two nickels together in order to pay off the debt he'd put me in until almost five to seven years afterwards. Once I paid the debt down and the last time I checked my credit score which was about seven hundred (that was two years ago) I haven't checked since that. I'm awful for that and i should check more but I think with the stress of being horrified by what was originally there and now, I'm just reluctant to do so anymore, but I really need to do better.
How'd did you go transferring from working for others into a secure, self-employed role?
I can't work for others, and just can't tolerate underselling/ devaluing myself in a crap "Hospitality" job which one is supposed to do as a stepping stone to better things... (or to eat...)
I've done my fair share of tough jobs but to make a fluid change to working for myself - now that is proving hard - I'll check your podcast out.
I make homemade firestarters since we heat with a wood stove. Take one of those pressed paper egg cartons. Stuff each egg cavity with shredded office paper - really compact the paper in. (Yeah, yeah, you know non-toxic inc and all that). Pour melted paraffin wax in each cavity. Separate when dry <--this is the hardest part, I use a frozen-food knife to separate.
My husband does all of the maintenance on all of our cars - a 2005 Corvette, a 2000 Silverado, and a 2005 Grand Prix. He saves us thousands of dollars per year. Before we met I had a small sensor replaced in my car for $300. It faulted again a few years later and he replaced it for $10. Right when we met, the shop had quoted me $1000 for all fluids change (a 100k mile workup)....he offered to do it all for just the cost of the fluids ($180). Even though we literally had just met a few weeks before that, I let him do it, he saved me a ton of money, and I definitely got to see what a darn sweetheart he was!

Yearly
I checked them all last April when I had a problem with an account, this year I am looking to break it up between the three in four month intervals.

I review every 6 months. I had to review it recently when my credit card was stolen.

not often enough. maybe once a year if I think about it.
I review my credit several times a year...
Once a year - yesterday, in fact.
That sounds like a great idea!
Sounds great mate,

I evaluate it quarterly although changes are made monthly.

I always tend to be able to fall asleep after a few drinks, and the relaxing scent tip doesn't work for me at all. Otherwise, good advice!

I like to get a bottle of wine and some weird cheese at a fancy grocery store. For $25, I feel like I'm living THE LIFE and splurging my heart out!
