Having just finished Christmas 2011, my resolution is to spend less on Christmas 2012! I have already bought several things at 75% off this week that are going into a box for next Christmas, as well as craft supplies to make a few homespun things. I'm looking forward to seeing how much I can save!
My goal this year is to get my car paid off - at the very least paid WAY down. I will keep that forefront in my mind so as not to get distracted by projects around the house!
Our biggest goal is to have monthly financial meetings together. Previously, my husband and I discussed big expenses but I handled the day-to-day and monthly budget on my own. We're both in this together and now we're both discussing $ matters together.
There's a limit to what you can do by trimming spending and optimizing savings & investing. To really propel yourself forward, you need to increase your income. The best way to do that is by creating a business, since you have control over how much you make, and you'll have more financial security since you won't be dependent on a single job to pay your bills.
Now that my involuntary divorce is done, the dust has settled, and the holidays are over, find my financial sweetspot as a single parent; pay the lawyer, pay the child support, get ready for college because I know I'll be the only parent chipping in, and otherwise figure out how to enjoy myself as well.
This year, I'm going to duplicate my consulting business income with other sources of revenue. I want to diversify my income, and create some "paid time off". :)
Agreed. Keep it to ONE goal, make it specific, make sure you're totally obsessed & passionate about it, and set up your environment to remind you about it and/or make it easy for you to do it.
I like to cook a big batch of something on the weekend, say some black bean sweet potato chili or cold sesame peanut noodles, and pack single portions of them in tupperware in the fridge. This makes lunch all week super easy, you just grab a container and run out the door, and you have a home-cooked lunch!
I'm so sorry for your loss. Did the AD&D insurance end up paying out? Did it help at all?
I think many of us don't understand what we would do with a chunk of money like an insurance payout, but I think there are many expenses that we also don't anticipate. If you would like to weigh in with your two cents, I'm sure we would all appreciate it.
No more late fees!
Spend on what I need not what I want. Save more for retirement.

My hope is to get a more firm grasp on my own financial picture.

Financial Resolutions: Build a larger emergency fund, pay an extra $1200 to student loans, buy a second car with cash. Bring it, 2012!

I liked WiseBread on Facebook.
There's a certain amount in savings I'm hoping to hit. Barring theft or disaster, I think I'm definitely on track.

I'm going to set aside my "little" savings (such as coupon and rebate money) so build into big savings.

Pay $15 extra on my car loan each month and continue saving a portion of each paycheck to make a large sum payment on my student loans.
My financial New Years resolution is to make enough freelance writing income to subsist on that side income for my grad school loan payments.
I commented and liked on Facebook. Can't wait to see what this year brings!

I resolve to develop some new income streams. No more relying on one paycheque!
