This is a something that people need to really think about when selecting their annual health benefits. My wife added it to her account where she worked (in the insurance industry) for both of us.
I asked her the same thing, "why not just get regular insurance?". She said since we are both relatively young (mid 30's) it would be more likely that we die or were dismembered in an accident than of natural causes.
Unfortunately this was the case. She passed away 12 years ago this month after having an accident in our home.
I resolve to spend less money on new books. My neighborhood Borders closed, but Amazon is a big temptation. I will wait for ebay bargains for any must-haves.
I'm doing something like BofA's "keep the change" program, and putting a way a tiny bit every day to balance my account to end in .00. It's not much, but it's something more than before.
When I was really overweight, my doctors were always looking to scold me about cholesterol and blood pressure, but mine were always excellent. It was always fun to see the look of shock on nurse's face when she ready my blood pressure... "Oh, 90/62. Huh." It's because I ate more veggies than you could shake a stick at!
I'm on a severely low carb diet now, and my cholesterol has gone up a bit, but it's mostly because of my weakness for cheddar cheese. I've since cut back on that, and will see how it goes.
Because I am on a very strict diet, I had to start stocking food at work, rather than trying to scramble to make something every morning or to locate something to eat during my lunch hour. I noticed that I often spent too much money going to a local pizzeria and ordering the meatball grinder without the bread (since I have to limit my carbs). I have a rather unnatural love of marinara sauce.
So, I finally went to my grocery store and bought giant bags of Italian meatballs - they run about $10 a bag, but they last me a couple of months. I keep them in the freezer at work, and some of my favorite marinara in the fridge. Together, they make a delicious (but decadent-seeming) lunch that only runs me about $1/day.
No, oddly, I never seem to grow sick of the taste. ;)
This year...I'm going to keep on doing what we've been doing for years! Living frugally, enjoying our saved-up-for splurges (especially the DisneyWorld trip we're planning!), and keep the unnecessary spending in check. Still working on padding the emergency fund and saving for things in the future.
Brian,
If you are worried about it having too much sugar content, just cut it in half and add water. If it already blew out enough to give space, just let it ride. It should be fine. The only really unusable mash, would have an infection. The rest can be used. It may be low alcohol content. It may be high sugar content left over, but, it will distill out.
These posts are a great find. I especially enjoyed the moolanomy post on how to deal with a financial emergency. A great way to financially prepare yourself for a touch economic year.
Thanks Nora. I think the secret is an open secret. Pick your passions carefully (prioritize) and learn to deeply let go of the rest. This one is anchored to what we already know as fact: our time is limited (which is reminiscent of the late Steve Jobs).
I agree with using CarFax and being patient. This summer, I bought a used car, and a CarFax report helped me make the final decision. I actually used many of your main points (i.e. test drives, CarFax, Kelly Blue Book, etc.).
One thing I would recommend is checking car insurance rates for that specific car. You might buy a certain car and realize later the insurance is going to be through the roof.
In today's economy I think developing a side income such as blogging or internet marketing is very important to our survival. Gone are the days when part-time jobs were easy to pick up.
This is the first time I made anything close to a resolution. I just aim to re-focus on some things that I fell behind on because of the holidays and my new job - primarily getting back to regular counselling sessions and Weight Watchers meetings, and placing more focus on my handmade jewelry business.
So funny, I have called Comcast for outage maybe 3 times in the past year. Every time I call, the same pre-recorded message says that there is an outage in my area. I find it amusing that you get the say run around, I bet that message plays regardless if there is an outage or not!

I've been a Fb fan for some time.

My 2012 financial resolution is to be 100% credit card debt free. I also want to start saving more money each month to create an emergency account.
I like WB on Facebook!
My financial resolution is to pay off my 0% interest credit card before it has any interest! I'm working hard to try and get there!
We are focusing on downsizing our credit debt big-time

I hope to pay off my student loans this year!
Be more generous to others and myself.

Sticking to our budget!!!

The big brainstorming to find all wishes. A great idea to start with.

Hello,
I went to their website and I just saw that I missed their application deadline... Is there another program like this that you may know?
Thank You
