My approach was somewhat similar when I opened an online brokerage account years ago (at the time, the discount brokers were phone-based): I went with the broker that the most serious investor I knew used. I still use the brokerage b/c I can get what I need. Most people should find what works for them with these choices.
An easy way to get your jars back is to first take the rings off before you give them away, and then tell folks that if they want more, they have to bring the empty jars back to you. It's worked well for me for the last 10 years.
Just jumping in to second the suggestion for the leash used in the Walk in Sync video and course (haven't taken the course; I can only speak to the leash).
The staff at my terrier's obedience school advised that we switch to the "Easy-Walk Harness" (which looks to be the same thing), and walks were a breeze after that. Amazing. No pulling whatsoever.
Can't recommend it enough.
Another little trick to eliminate chewing and barking and other behaviors related to anxiety and boredom is regular, vigorous exercise. A tired dog is a quiet dog.
Wow! These are amazing tips. Most I hadn't even thought of. I agree however with your last tip to focus on health and fitness. That has proved to save me money plenty of times.
I've thought about canning several times recently. I remember my Nana use to can goods growing up. We would play in her cellar and there were rows and rows of jars on her shelves.
Great suggestions for the "spicy" question. I really like how you used "spicy" there too. I received a package from Omaha Steaks as a gift the other day and inside were 5 conversation cards with questions very similar to your "spicy" question. I thought it was a great idea. My roommate had invited a friend over that I had never met before and while my roommate was cutting his hair, I found the cards in the box, opened them up and started asking questions. It worked out quite well.
I hope this guide can help people understand their plans better. I had no idea how complicated they could be as I thought the plans were much more standardized until I started doing research.
We put up ceiling fans in every room, and keep them running, along with a stand fan in the living room and our bedroom, to help our ac do it's job better. Ice cream helps, too!!!
Great article Julie. In the last couple of months I've had to deal with some miscellaneous health issues with my parents -- nothing serious but each incident is a good reminder of how fragile our bodies can become and how important it is to completely grasp the in and outs of one's healthcare plans.
I stopped drinking soda january 2012. i only drink water, milk and juice these days. Don't even think that I drink alcohol. My reason? I am an athlete and i don't want to ruin myself. And nothing is as good as water anyway...
We installed two ceiling fans on our back porch. Even yesterday, when it was 90 degrees with high humidity in our area, our back porch was exceptionally pleasant.
I read your article and i have been swayed by it! I am thinking of opening a business in ebay and i have found your article to be extremely useful. I would like to know if you have any recommendations/suggestions regarding the ebay business i want to go into. You definitely know what you are talking about and would love to receive advise and suggestions from you.
Good one. I like the ideas. "what do you do" is boring and predictable. My favorite is "What is your dream?" or "Where do you see yourself in 5 - 10 years?" The conversation takes an interesting turn from there and gets quite exciting
We sort of just stumbled into our online brokerage. I know, that sounds odd, but when my wife's company offered an ESOP plan, they set up a stock plan account with Etrade, for her, and I just started using them for everything else as time went by. Low fees, some decent research tools, and I get advice from a real person if I need it.
We've only made jam but it was an interesting process and not near as difficult as we anticipated. The jam was used for a baby shower and the ladies loved it rather than getting some trinket they would put on a shelf or in a drawer to collect dust. The jars were labelled and decorated. I think with a bit of research, trial and error canning is a great way to save money in the budget and to have good food all year long.
Renting an inflatable jumper would take some serious liability insurance, plus why would parents rent from some guy instead of a reputable company?
We go to the pool at our local park. The kids love it.
Tried ETrade, Scotttrade and finally TD Ameritrade. Been with Ameritrade since 2008 and highly recommend them.

The links for Target and CVS don't work!

Great article! Almost inspires me to get busy and do some canning!

Thanks as always for the link :). People responded well to that post.

Thanks for having us on the list!
We close the blinds wherever the sun is shining in- helps a lot. We also turn off lights and put fans in the windows.
Chris I got mine at WalMart.

Well Andrea I'm from Newcastle and I think you're a very odd individual!
