If it’s free, it’s for me!
With few exceptions, no one really enjoys filing their taxes, so why not reduce the sting by doing it for free? Free is everyone’s favorite price for anything.
However, there are restrictions on who, how, and what can be e-filed for free. These filers aren’t invited to the party:
The good news is that just about everyone else can e-file for free.

Beef prices hit record highs last summer and prices for beef, pork, and eggs are expected to climb throughout 2015.
United Airlines and Orbitz are suing the travel site Skiplagged. Photo: Aero Icarus
Aktarer Zaman’s mission was to make it easier (and cheaper) for people to explore the world.
The 22-year-old New York City resident went about making that happen by designing a website, Skiplagged, that shows travelers the cheapest flight routes to their destinations.
Sounds harmless, right?
Apparently, Orbitz and United Airlines don’t think so. Zaman’s website is the focus of a lawsuit filed by the two travel industry giants.

Recently, I came across this great article about Nicola Piccola, a person who went to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to help out with rebuilding and wound up moving there. Today, he lives in New Orleans and works for the New Orleans Food and Farm Network for a very low wage, meaning that he has to be extremely careful with his money.
The full article is a great read, but I wanted to really focus on a few particular points. Near the end of the article, the interviewer asks Nicola a very interesting question, and he provides a great answer:

It’s 6 a.m. and your alarm clock just went off. As you reach over to turn it off, what are you thinking?
Carpe diem!? Today’s the day!?
Or…
Did you have a rough night of sleep? Is your head aching? Should you have said no to that third glass of wine?
Are you scrambling to remember what you have to do today, or are you in a meditative state because you made a to-do list last night, got plenty of rest, and are awake in time to start your morning routine before your day gets going at the office?
Whatever the feeling, it’s going to influence not only your morning, but your entire day. How you feel will impact every interaction and decision you make in a day.
Installment loans are a great financial tool for people who want to make a large purchase and don’t have the cash to do it. Unlike credit cards, which you might use to borrow revolving amounts and pay them back as you go, installment loans involve borrowing one single sum and repaying it over time in […]

If you ask baby boomers how parenting has changed over the years, many can name a host of once-safe practices that have since been outlawed.
People from my mother’s generation talk about how, as babies, they rode in the front seat of their family car without a car seat. And my mother often jokes about shrouding us in thick, heavy blankets surrounded by stuffed animals when we slept as infants — a huge no-no in today’s world.
The holidays may be behind us, but many of the bills are just coming due. Photo: Timothy Tolle
For most of us, the holiday season is a few weeks into the past. We have some happy memories, but the joy of the holidays is already long gone as we start a new year and move through the rest of the winter season.
In many mailboxes, bills from the countless expenses of the holiday season are starting to arrive. People used their credit cards for gifts, food, flights, hotels, gasoline, and all of the other expenses that often come with celebrating the holidays. Even people who are otherwise pretty smart with their money are sometimes facing credit card bills this time of the year.

College is a huge step toward adulthood. Going to class, homework and studying, holding down a job, figuring out a way to pay for college, and trying to make yourself marketable for a job after graduation – that’s exhausting just to type.
Fast-paced coding boot camps train aspiring developers hungry for high-tech skills — and a good-paying job. Photo: Plank Design
The mention of coding boot camps may conjure images of helmets and laptops. Far from it.
They’re intensive programs, nine to 12 weeks on average, that provide training in computer coding so students can land jobs as Web developers.
