In my opinion, it really depends on who you are, what your resources are and what you want to achieve. There is no one-size-fits-all option here.
However, I believe there are several considerations that may direct your preference:
* Self satisfaction: knowledge, skills and experience are sources of self-esteem to many people regardless of monetary benefits (although money may results in self satisfaction too).
* Field or Industry: some fields require more deep set of skills (e.g. Technology) while other may require wide range of skills (e.g. Business).
* Future Goals: Do you want to work for others? or do you want others to work for you? Do you want to ride? or drive?. As your career move to leadership, management, planning, entrepreneurship etc... generalization beats specialization. In contrast, Specialists mostly fit better in regular employment environment.
I think Nora's quote; “generalizing specialist” works best in most cases.
I love too many Olympic events to narrow it down to one. Favorites? Running in Track and Field, Gymnastics, and Swimming. Favorites this go-round: Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, Simone Manuel, and Lilly King.
I bought Glad Force flex bags. They are terrible! Too short to cover height of tall kitchen trash can. Less plastic to the point they are like the bags Glad used to show in their ads dumping trash on the ground, now its Glad bags that are weak. What a disappointment
I love watching athletes compete in their best event for their country. I love watching gymnastics, diving, swimming, basketball, canoeing, volleyball, track and field, soccer.
This year I have been enjoying learning all about the different sports, googling as I watch with my husband. I've never been into sports so there has been a lot I have been looking up!
I have a weird situation- I was in a car accident (rear ended by two cars). I am finally receiving a settlement to cover the medical bills but I already qualified for financial aid with the hospital I owed money to. Do I legally need to tell the hospital I received a settlement? I qualified even though they knew I had a claim in with the car insurance company...
My favorites of the Olympics so far have been women's gymnastics, swimming and track & field. I loved watching Simone Biles and Aly Raisman on the individual events, especially the floor exercise. Wow! Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps were awesome as well as Matt Kuchar in golf.
My experience with Samsung Refrigerator was a similar one. After the warranty period, it broke consistently and each time the service technician came out was a $200 ordeal. Finally I got fed up and bought a Whirlpool Gold to replace it and it worked perfectly since day one and still is the primary fridge in our household. Never ever bought a Korean branded appliance, you end up paying more to operate the machinery vs US brands what's made else where. The brand makes a difference. Toyota Camry is made in the USA but it's less prone to breakage than a Ford Fusion, also made in USA.
This sounds like the perfect houseguest! We have a relative that stays with my parents and she never offers anything let alone bring a gift. This is a well-to-do educated woman no less. Blows my mind.
I love learning about the stories of all the athletes and how hard they worked to get to the Olympics, plus getting to know more about the host city and country is always fun and illuminating. My favorite event is gymnastics, especially since I did gymnastics as a kid and teenager. Everything having to do with Simone Biles this year has been amazing!
I don't normally watch the Olympics, but this year I've been watch women gymnastics and swimming.
I enjoy gymnastics and beach volleyball the most at the Olympics.
Thanks Nora for an interesting article.

I love watching all the sports and events and seeing all the team spirit.

What is a desk shade and where are they sold?
I love watching swimming and track!
This may be cheesy, but I love the good sportsmanship! Nothing like seeing a bunch of competitors hug after a togh match.
Boomer Phelps! :)

I have not been watching the Olympics at all this time.

I love to watch the Olympic track and field running races! I love it when there is a close finish.
Skip the rent is followed by reasons why you should NOT skip the rent, and you somehow are still indignant?

"Professional advisors" are nothing more than sales people. Hire a CPA instead and use no load index funds that consistently beat the load funds!

the personal back stories of the various athletes.
I like the athleticism and the pride for the athlete's home country.
My favorite part of the Olympics is the gymnastics, diving, and swimming!
