We have a cat named Matt. We adopted him. We buy cat food and litter for him. I would say maybe $35 a month for both. I always try to find his food and litter on sale and use coupons. He is such a cuddly cat but he can be crazy too.
I have one of those vintage Sunbeam hand mixers from the 70's that I inherited from my mom. Works like a champ! It'll be a very sad day when it finally dies.
We have two dogs, one of whom is very high maintenance. Despite the extra work she causes, I enjoy having pets in our family and cannot imagine life without a furry companion. Month to month, our 2 small dogs probably have expenses around $50-$60 (includes food & heart worm meds). Once a year vet bills total $250 for both of them but of course you also have to be prepared for the unexpected health problem. So having pets is not cheap! But still worth it for our family.
Good tips. Nice to see that there are other options aside from just offering to pay more. I've also heard that, in addition to be flexible with the seller, making some sort of personal appeal to them can be helpful, but I've personally never done so.
Yes, we have two cats. One adopted us when we came home from vacation to find him eager to be fed. The other is a recent adoption - a senior cat who lost her way and was at the shelter. They control our lives! Cats are new to me, I grew up in a home with a dog and my daughter had two dogs growing up. Pets bring so much joy and energy to our lives!
I have 2 cats. Right now their budget went up because one needs a prescription diet - but we love them and they definitely add a lot of joy to our lives, so we save on other things to be able to afford them and have an emergency fund amount put aside for any surprise vet visits. We keep toying with the idea of getting a dog too, but it seems like so much more work and money than the cats are.
Yes, currently we have 3 dogs and 9 cats. I also foster cats, so we just took a mama and her 4 kittens to the local no kill shelter that I work with. At one point in time, we had 18 animals in our house! Don't worry, I promise our house doesn't smell like a zoo!!
yes two cats. One showed up at our house one day quite a few years ago and the other we recently adopted from the local shelter. We couldn't be happier with them as they are the best!
I have always had pets and will always have them. Right now, 2 cats, the first from the Humane Society where I was volunteering, the second a rescue from a barn cat environment. This sweet kitten was saved by my vet from being aborted because mama barn cat who was rescued was too far along when brought in. He took the kittens and at 8 weeks, placed them all in loving cat families.
I have had dogs and cats over the years and they bring much joy. I have 2 sons, one autistic. Both love these pets and my older autistic son is calmed by them. I am glad that I have good resources, like the University of Minnesota Vet clinic where I can take my sick pets and get them treated. My vet sends me there when more specialized needs and equipment are necessary to diagnose and treat.
We have two dogs, a 5 yr old and a 1 yr old. We spend about $100 on food and then another $20-50 on treats and toys each month for both. They are spoiled! :) Our pups are so happy, the way the smile and get excited when we get home from work each day is awesome! I also love cuddling with them on lazy weekends.
I have two large breed dogs (a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Great Pyrenees). They eat a LOT - I spend about $80/month on food alone plus other routine things like toys, grooming and medications. The total average cost per month is probably between $125 - $150, depending on the month! However, they are 100% worth it. The best thing about them is the joy they bring me! There is nothing like coming home to two happy pups with wagging tails after a long day. They truly make my heart happy and my life complete.
My wife and I have a Border Collie and an Aussie and we spend probably about $30 a month on them. The real pain is travelling with them. The added fees at all the hotel rooms can add up fast!
Two black and white cats. The younger one is a polydactl with a pesky younger sibling personality and constantly annoys the older one.
No, I am living close to the bone and can't afford pets right now. Hopefully, I'll be working full time next year so I can have one or two cats again.

Yes, I have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
We have the best Sheltie ever, she is 11 years old and spoiled rotten!!

Two Australian shepherds came with the lovely woman who became my wife.
I don't have any pets. I would love to have one, but I work and travel too much so I would feel like a neglectful owner.

We do not currently have pets, but my husband really wants to get a couple dogs.

We do not have pets at the moment but are looking fairly soon into adopting from our local shelter.
Sadly, no animals for us. We always talk about getting a dog, but they are expensive and we just do not have the time as young, busy, professionals.
I don't have any pets.
Yup! I have an older chihuahua named Maggie who is 5lbs!
I have 2 cats that are brothers, named Kit and Caboodle. They are grey tabbies but have different markings.
