Agree with everything except old paint. When you leave your home, it'd be wise to patch up blemishes or cracked up areas. Instead of going to buy an entire new can for that touch-up, why not just use what you already have? Seems wasteful to me.
This is a great list ... but please, for much of this stuff, don't throw it away. There are people that can use what you no longer need and easy ways to get rid of the stuff. You can try to turn a profit on eBay or even Craigslist, or for the generous spirit, Freecycle (or free on Craigslist) is a great place to turn.
So while I fully support the spirit of the post, don't go wasting all the energy and resources that went into making your stuff. Give it away and let it be useful for someone else.
What great ideas! I especially love the Study Area idea. My youngest will be getting homework for the first time this year and I hesitate to have both kids doing their homework in the same place at the same time. Separate study areas are a great option!
Awesome tips! I never knew that the placement of the freezer could make a difference in efficiency! When we go to purchase our next one, we'll definitely go with the top mount freezer.
my boyfriend just got diagnoised wit high blood sugar and with his job he doesnt get to eat the way he should. His sugar always runs about 210 can someone tell me some things he could pack for his lunch that will help get it lower? and we both are new to this so any pointers will be greatly appreciated! he is takin the pill instead of insulin so when his sugar is high like that does he take a pill to get it down? please help us understand what to do, he also found out he had kidney disease so please help us
Don't be too quick to knock the natural remedies. Pharmaceutical companies often do clinical trials on their own products, so don't expect to see them done on natural remedies anytime soon. But (most) at least won't harm, so it's worth a shot.
Lemon balm is a potent anti-viral (my opinion is that the drug companies don't want us to know about it) and myself and everyone I know has had major success with it on cold sores. Since this is a frugal living site- you can easily grow lemon balm in your garden or in a small pot in your home. It grows from seeds or cuttings, and you can keep propagating the same plant from cuttings over and over. I just crush up a few fresh leaves with my fingers until they are nice and juicy, then hold it like a poultice on the sore for 10 minutes or so twice a day. Reduces the duration dramatically, and seems to keep it at bay for a long time after using it on a sore. You can also buy lemon balm hydrosols (water based, so not so owie to apply as essential oils) from natural product companies. I also make the lemon balm into a tea when I feel a cold coming on, and more than once it seems to have staved it off.
But perhaps most importantly, that you touched on, is boosting your immune system when you feel one coming on. Eat and drink like you're getting a cold- amp up the vitamins, eat your honey, be good to your body, get lots of rest. This will be the best thing for reducing the severity and duration of your outbreak.
Barb I can tell you that I do not own or work for a professional lawncare service. I too take care of my own yard. I must admit I have in the past ( prior to this year) purchase store bought seasonal fertilizers. Trust me I would love for this solution to work for me also, but unfortunately I have yet to see any results. One item that I deleted was the mouthwash as I thought that was used to kill grubs and or other insects. Also used a Miracle-Gro hose-end sprayer. (Does not have a dial adjustment) It could very well be that this sprayer is not mixing the formula appropriately and leaving out the mouthwash has had an adverse effect. I can say that I enjoy working in my yard and have also had one of the nicer yards in the neighborhood. Next step would be to buy the Ortho sprayer and add the mouthwash before I make final judgement.
I buy off of amazon.com. They always seem to have a deal running like the $0.99 Lady Gaga album on the release date and $3 new releases especially during the holidays.
Like many men I love wearing a cami and a vintage half slip under my boring male clothing, they suited nicely and wearing the loose fit half slip is a rush I tell you! Sans panties of course for easy restroom action.
For my wife and I we plan to keep both streaming and DVD. However, Time Warner will see their revenue decrease as we are reducing cable to the basic package. We watch Netflix way more than cable.
I may go back up next summer when the TDF is on. I will drop again at the end of July.
Another consideration is that by itemizing taxes, I can further tweak the balance by deducting other things that previously I couldn't. For instance, without the mortgage, there's no way I could deduct the charities I donate.
I'd guess if they take away the mortgage interest deduction, we'll see donations drop quite a bit.
I don't buy music. I don't have much money available for luxuries, and I choose to spend it on internet access rather than music or cable. I listen to the radio when I want to hear music.
I buy my music through Amazon, mostly; both mp3 downloads and CDs. The firefox extension invisible hand lets me know if the CD is selling elsewhere at a cheaper price and if the combined price plus shipping is less than Amazon by a significant amount, I'll stray. Otherwise, I get points on my Amazon visa.

How'd the pie turn out? :)
Pizza and champagne...I like your style! :)
Derek, that sounds really good. Add a good book, and I'd be set!! :)
