only if you buy stuff you don't need. But if you have been lucky enough to have been blessed with an amazing deal on a large purchase item at the exact time you need it, then not stupid at all. In fact, some people might call us -- frugal.
We've been looking (I guess I should say thinking) into opportunities with expenses paid and stipends for when my husband finishes his degree. It's nice to know there additional programs to the Peace Corps, although that's a good program too.
I'm glad to see I am not the only Notepad user. Military wife, ranking your list seems to help keep it from growing out of control. I keep the first section of the list things I have to that day, the next section things that need to get done maybe that week and the third part of the list things that are less important or more hope I can do.
Otherwise your to do list starts turning into a list of life goals almost.
I made these and they were wonderful. I used a little more oatmeal and 2 egg whites to help bind. I also added a handful of choc. chips to give it a little extra sweetness.
I have to say I agree with this. When a boyfriend of mine broke up with me a few years back, I went out and purchased an expensive digital camera. I really couldn't afford it, but I didn't care, I 'needed it'.
there is such a sense of accomplishment when you draw that line through something on your list! Of course, I don't like the way mine keeps growing exponentially...how do you combat that?
I'm an American living abroad. When I took a camel safari out into the dunes of Rajasthan (India) and the camel guide's cell phone rang out in the middle of nowhere, that's when it hit me! what a crummy system we have in the US. *Why* "lock" cell phones in the first place? Why do you have to have "roaming" charges? I'll tell you why--to increase profit margins of big business. Something's wrong folks.
I'm a single mom with two children, one 15 and one 17. I know I can receive the benefit for the younger child, but I'm not sure about the older one. I know the child has to be under 17 to qualify for a child tax credit...do you know if the same guidelines will apply to this tax rebate? I'll be thrilled to get anything they send me, but the extra $300 would go a long way to help with the bills!
Absolutely use your fireplace, its amazing how entertaining sitting around a fire can be. Keep in mind, 65 is a healthier room temperature than 72. The lower the temperature, the more calories you burn to keep warm internally. Don't freeze yourself, as thats not very healthy either.

I've just started using todoist.com - it's got a streamlined, minimal interface, is really quick, and can be used on an igoogle page or a Mac Dashboard widget. I'm loving the design simplicity and the ease of using this. Oh, and it plays very nicely with gmail. Highly recommended.
That processed cheese in a can is great stuff. Warm it up in the can and you have a tasty and instant cheese sauce!!
I have tasted fresh crocodile, locusts and fresh meal worms but wouldn't include them as part of my daily diet and would definitely steer clear of the canned variety.
The "private parts" of a bull are a huge delicacy in my country and it won't be long before someone cans them too.
Necessity is the mother of invention. With all the space travelling they had to do, they would have had to invent a much faster more efficient, less expensive fuel source. No gas guzzling vehicles, no pollution.... Go Jedi!!
Just a reminder to those who forget, the govenment is returning a small portion of the money we already submitted. By definition, this is a refund, not a rebate. It's a drop in the bucket compared to the Fed tax, State tax, NY city tax, Social Security tax, Medicare tax, sales tax, gasoline tax, cigarette tax, governmental surcharge taxes on my phone/cell bill, ...Forgive me if I overlooked other taxes we get hit with.
If I remember correctly, America declared its independence from England because poor King George was greedy and wanted "10%" tax. Seems to me even most poor people pay the government taxes in one form or another. Don't lose sight of that!
For the tiny percentage of people getting this money who didn't pay taxes, call it anything you like .... "free money, rebate" Congratulations to you for getting something for nothing.
Finally, for those who complain this is a ridiculous plan.... I'm sure the govnernment won't mind if you don't cash your check. AS for me, I wouldn't be in my personal cash crunch if the government only took a small portion of my hard earned wages. Instead, my $100K dwindles down to $60K after all the taxes I mentioned above. While %60k is pretty good, it doesn't get much in the NY Metro area for a family of 4.
If I called ahead and when I arrive and the pizza is not ready, I would actually walk away and buy something else. I have done that in the past. The family gets a bit of a surprise and disappointed, but they get over it quickly when I show up with something else that is yummy.
Folks, just walk out and get something else. I do that everywhere if the service sucks.
How will IRS determine your AGI? Will that be based on 2007 tax year? If so, then does the government have enough time to wait for the 2007 tax filing to be over before determining the rebates?
In the actual text of the bill, I saw something being mentioned about 2008 tax year. So I am a little confused!
Thanks for that, David. I haven't tried all of Zoho's features yet - its quite a bit more "involved" than some of the other tools I mentioned and I just haven't had a chance to check all of it out. One of my clients uses it for the list management feature so I've had hands-on experience with that piece and it works fine, but its nice to hear about its other perks as well :)
Personally, I find the Zoho suite a bit too slow for something like list making. I am sure the problem is with my internet connection.
That said, I love it as an online office platform. I do most of my writing in Zoho writer and...well...that is basically all I use office software to do. I find that, unlike google documents it handles margins well and the documents transfer from the web to a printer or desktop application without any fuss.
in Massachusetts, either.
Beer isn't a great price, but the liquor and wine often have some bargains. For higher priced wine, you have to know exactly what you want. Bottles that would be as high as $60-$70, I've seen at Costco for $39.
Me, I drink the Beringers White Zin, 2/$9.
I'm no tax expert, but I think you're right--your cost basis should be what you paid for them, plus all the OID amounts that you paid taxes on each year. In fact, if you bought it at face value, I think that will come to the amount that you receive at maturity, so I don't think you have a capital gain at all--the entire change will have been income that you already paid taxes on.

Interesting juxtaposition of the rebel insignia with the Union Flag, a symbol that represents imperialism and enslavement to many around the globe.

This is great David, thanks!

Think emotions/emotional states are a very important factor in managing of your finances.
At least for me, I tend to spend a lot more when I'm stressed, angry or even happy.

its hilarious how much you all dwell on the clearance.

Alyson,
what happened to the Krispy Kreme in Metairie? When I lived in River Ridge, that place was always packed every time I drove by.
