Nope! I haven't paid for cable TV for over a year. I watch online and I do pay for Netflix, but it's only $7.99 a month to stream through my Wii and NO COMMERCIALS. I refuse to pay $60 or more for basic cable and have to watch commercials that portray unrealistic stereotypes and make me feel like I NEED whatever BS product their selling for my life to be complete.
Mr. Micheal is being deciptive. no one read the claim about antibotics extra to mean the milk instead of the cow? Really bad reporting. Also as a person who has tested milk for antibotics, I assure you that antibotics are in the milk because many farmers are incapable of reading the test results accurately. A negative reading can be because there is so much antibotic in the milk that there is no bacterial growth, not because there is not antibotic present. Farmers have a real hard time with this concept and I saw it time and time again.
We have satellite, not cable. Way more channels than we need. I'd love to watch shows through our computer - Hulu, Netflix, etc. but can't quite convince my spouse to give up NFL Network (which is why we have the high number of channels)
I love the spinachy taste of lambs quarters -- especially on a year like this one where the plantings all seemed to go in late, but the weeds are still coming in on time.
We ditched all broadcast television when it went digital (no longer got good signal in our out-of-town hilly location). We watch movies and old TV shows from the library on the tube and get streamed content on the internet. We also read, listen to the radio, go to the lake, and garden. It's the life!
When we replaced our roof, we had them put in the wire for a roof antenna, but we just haven't bothered to buy.
My favorite budget wine is KONO Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 - it has crisp acidity and pronounced citrus and grapefruit flavors. And it's just $7.99 at Trader Joe's (when they have it in stock)!
Oh my goodness, I would love to go to Thailand! Beautiful beaches and delicious food. Mmm.
Does anybody else have recommendations for frugal international destinations? One of the most affordable vacations I've taken was to the Dominican Republic.
There are so many wines on this list that I'm excited to try.
Does anybody have other under $10 favorites? One of mine is El Coto's 2007 Rioja -- I've seen it just over $10 at some stores, but it's pretty easy to find on sale for around $8.99.
I lost the privilege of cable television a long time ago. I primarily Netflix my shows and as a result am a season behind. However, I also mooch off my boyfriend's DVR when I see him -- so that's a free, easy way for me to get my cable fix!
I don't know that I could even consider going without my cell. There's just too much that I do with it. Which is, of course, part of the argument for getting rid of it. Thanks for the mention, Ashley!
The vast majority of Type 2 diabetics are overweight. In fact, 92% of Type 2 children are overweight, and 40% of them are considered clinically obese. Just because there are some exceptions to the rule doesn't mean that the rule isn't a good one.
And if you know basic logic, you'll know that just because many diabetic people are overweight, it doesn't necessarily mean that most overweight people are diabetic. I never said that obese people are expected to be diabetic, although being obese certainly does raise the risk factor for developing diabetes by quite a bit.
There are pros and cons to this strategy. Pro: better if it were a loan to repay within 30 days at no penalty. Con: could be risky and left with nothing.
But good alternative for some people. Something to consider.

Yes we pay for cable, rather satellite. We recently switched saving us almost $50 a month!
NO ! What's the point with hulu.com and friends with HBO?

That's wonderful. I forgot to mention churches!

Yep no Netflix.
Not anymore! I didn't think I could live without it, but I've been cable free for about 6 months and it's great!

I cancelled cable two years ago when I was unemployed for a few months. Never regretted it! I subscribe to Netflix, and also stream a lot online.

Oh, boy! Going without the cell phone? That would be a tough one these days. ;-)
Thanks for the insightful list of reading material, Ashley.
Not sure if it only counts the first time--but I already "like" you on facebook:)

No we definitely do not pay for cable- everything we could possibly want to watch is available on the web or netflix.
