We've gone to Halloween parties before, dressed up, but we usually don't do anything on our own, except for buying some of the leftover Halloween candy the day after the holiday!
I always use credit whenever i can and earn 1.5% on all my purchases if not more , more than any bank interest these days!!! (as long as you pay the bill in full each month lol )
When my girls were at home, we used to do trick-or-treating and costumes, but now that they are away at college I don't do much Halloween stuff. When we were little, we did homemade costumes and I used to make costumes for my daughters. We never really got into the store bought costumes.
Don't agree with:
2) Dinner Party - Do you think you have to pay for dinner? Do you think your host can't provide suitable drink and dessert? Your obligation for attending a dinner party is a social one, not a material one. You need to invite your host to one of your parties. Isn't that more fun anyway?
3) Funeral - I wouldn't call what you bring a "gift" in the traditional sense. More like kindly help for the bereaved. Ask what you can do to help and take the load off of them.
4) House Party - See Dinner Party above.
11) Thanksgiving Dinner - See Dinner Party above. But, you might volunteer to help, and that might include making one of the dishes. I don't really consider that a "gift".
So, to summarize, you shouldn't be expected to pay for hospitality. Rather, you are obliged to return the hospitality in kind. This has the happy effect of promoting more festive events for you, your family, and friends!
Yes, we celebrate Halloween! It's a great excuse to wear costumes and celebrate the Fall season. We usually play spooky music and stock up on candy for our neighborhood trick-or-treaters!
ShopMieux is one of my favorite places to buy clothes from! They have so many brands for affordable prices! They also have great customer service and are happy to answer any of your questions.
We used to take the kids trick or treating, but the younger one is now in 7th grade. If she decides to go with friends, Mom is going to be left behind to dole out the candy.
We will go to a few houses so that the kids can experience Halloween without too much candy and possibly hand out some. The last few years we were living in Alaska so the door to door Halloween experience was out of the question as there was already snow on the ground and frigid temperatures!
I don't dress up, but I love to hand out candy to the neighborhood kids. Always manage a "Yikes!" or an "OMG!" when I open the door to a scary costume -- and invariably the kids wiggle with pride that they scared the lady.
I want to as much travelling as I can before settling down and having kids because, let’s face it, travelling with kids for a few days will age you a few months. However, I don’t think I’ll manage to fit in the $17,000 a year budget as I like to travel with a lot of suitcases and I’m really bad at thinking before buying, but kudos to you.
Except 5 and 6 that I didn't know, all those things are common sense to me... I am guilty of checking my phone sometimes though but I know I shouldn't.
I was researching this because of the number of grossly overpriced things I see on Amazon and Ebay ....for the life of me I could not understand why there are so many of these stupid looking listings ...do people REALLY expect complete idiots to come along and pay $99 for a $5 item that is common as grass? Even if a person was wicked enough to hope some half blind or blind drunk person might actually buy the item, it is hard to believe it would happen often enough to make the effort even worth while?? Then a light bulb came on ....MAYBE this is a very common money laundering scheme?? But right out in public view?? Is law enforcement and IRS really THAT lame to allow all of this happening right under their noses?? It would explain why some of these ebay listers with grossly overpriced items have ALL their sales listed as totally private...thoughts??
You forgot The Book Seat! It holds your book for you while you multitask. It is one of the best gifts I have received in a long time. I have had other book rests but they seem to be a bit awkward. This is just perfect and it even hold my kindle! Life changing i promise!
Yes indeed, love eating the candy.
I don't give "gifts" for Thanksgiving. I think bringing a dish is nice enough.

We celebrate Halloween every year! We dress up and decorate! Very fun for us!
Halloween is fun! Dressing up, decorating, and eating way too much candy. What's not to love?

Used to do Halloween for the kids - always with homemade costumes. Now I just want to enjoy the evening at home in peace.

Yes, we pass out candy to little kids in the neighborhood.
Then we eat lots of left-over candy :)
My kids dress up and I take them trick or treating.

My mom always made us costumes and I hope to carry on that tradition, but I'm not nearly as artistic as she is. Hopefully grandma will help out! :)

Halloween is all about the horror movies at my house. And, maybe some fall treats while watching them.
Yes! Halloween is fun. I like the decorations, I like seeing kids in their costumes, I like the general aesthetic of it. Don't over-think it.
I celebrate Halloween by eating lots of candy and watching horror movies.
