  • How to Look Rich Without Having Much Money   11 years 35 weeks ago

I live in Fairfield county, Ct. This is the kind of thing that many people do here every waking moment in the endless desperate striving to be better than the next guy. Who does exactly the same thing.
This widespread behavior does not make it that an enjoyable a place to live in a number of ways. The best is to find those that also question things as they are and disagree to follow the herd.

  • Effortless Ways to Make Money Online That Don't Require Skills   11 years 35 weeks ago

Great blog post! I would agree with everything said but the points suggesting that selling your time for money (like get part time job or sell service on Fiverr.com) is a way. In my view the money making formula online is: Selling digital products. It could be your own products or affiliate products or both. Step 1: Choose a product. Step 2: Get a website. Step 3: Get Free Traffic flow to your website and start making money even when you sleep!

That the author and publisher of this article would fail to address the cruel and unhealthy practices that is necessary to factory farm these animals is in my opinion unconscionable.

If you know about Fulfillment by Amazon, you can find things that are priced low and sell them on Amazon for a nifty profit.

Another fast way to make money with surveys is to go out and get referrals. The bigger checks in online surveys are by getting referrals - not by taking actual surveys.

If you want to make money that will alter your lifestyle, then you'll have to go forward with a business. An internet-based business is simpler and has less overhead expenses than a traditional one.

    Great post!

  • Ask the Readers: Do You Celebrate Halloween?   11 years 35 weeks ago

We've always felt a philosophic contradiction to celebrating. This year we won't. So much of the participation has become so dark and demonic.

  • Ask the Readers: Do You Celebrate Halloween?   11 years 35 weeks ago

I absolutely love Halloween. Since I was a child I have loved carving pumpkins and making decorations to hang. I also love putting together a great costume. I guess I really love all the creativity that is fostered by this holiday. This year I am going to trick-or-treat with my 3 year old niece. Cannot wait!

  • Living within your means isn't nasty   11 years 35 weeks ago

People today are so caught up in instant gratification and unrealistic self images that they have no clue what sacrifice or patience is about. My wife and I have almost always had it hard financially and it taught us to buy intelligently and what is absolutely necessary. I have been affected by this horrible economy and have been out of work three of the last eight years. Even so, we are debt free and have a substantial amount in the bank because we don't live above our means. we live in a very modest home and have two vehicles that are paid for. We drink coffee at home and eat out occasionally but in average venues and with concern for cost. We do take vacations but on a budget. We raised two good kids and one has a masters degree which we helped with but she learned to work for what she wants. Let's get back to basics and stop being such a greedy and selfish society.

  • 5 Hidden Comforts to Consider When Choosing an Airline   11 years 35 weeks ago

As someone who flies over 100,000 miles a year, I find these types articles absolutely worthless. What is never mentioned or discussed are the limitations US flyers have with regard to flying. Jet Blue and Virgin America fly in limited markets. And should i somehow figure out how to snag a seat on Malaysia airlines for my next overseas flight so I can have a few extra inches of leg room. And oh that internet service on overseas flights will fade away at some point on any airline.
The fact is that most US passengers are on a plane for leisure and fly maybe 2-3 hours on most trips. If they are flying overseas they are looking for the cheapest way to get there. I fly regional and mainline and the one thing that flyers want is on time take off and arrival. it is only people who fly a lot or are travel bloggers who get into the minutia of United economy plus or Delta vs Lufthansa or Singapore.
Oh and by the way for all those fans of Southwest and Jet Blue no matter how many FFMs I have with your airline they can never take me over the pond in first class for a couple hundred dollars of taxes and fees. And since having a flat bed on those trips is the most important factor for rest and sleep, people in business and first just want quiet.

  • This Is the One Skill You Need If You Want to Work for Yourself   11 years 35 weeks ago

I found this post very interesting as it does not only relate to the business industry, it could be applied to various situations such as bursar interviews, job intervies, etc. According to me, selling yourself as a product says much more about yourself than a CV or a recommendation letter.

  • 10 Things You Don't Actually Need to Buy for Your New Baby (Plus 5 You Must)   11 years 35 weeks ago

These suggestions are idiosyncratic at best. A few lowlights:

    1. Both of my children loved sleep sacks. They are a lot easier to swaddle correctly than a blanket, particularly for slightly older babies who can move around a bit more.

    2. As to a jogging stroller being the best and only kind of stroller someone will need? This is highly individual. We have a BOB Revolution jogging stroller that we use for walking around our neighborhood, which is hilly. But the BOB is big and bulky - not great for keeping in the car or maneuvering in stores. Something like a B-Agile or City Mini might be the best all-purpose stroller for most people

    3. Sound machines have been shown to be possibly detrimental to hearing development in babies. Certainly not a must have.

  • Ask the Readers: Do You Celebrate Halloween?   11 years 35 weeks ago

Our street attracts hundreds of kids from surrounding towns. To keep up with the expense of providing all that candy, we hold an open house for our friends who live in neighborhoods that don't get many trick or treaters. The price of admission is a big bag of candy.

  • 7 More Luxury Buys You Can Replace With Better and Cheaper Alternatives   11 years 35 weeks ago

I've gone back and forth over the cable vs. Hulu/Netflix debate. I currently subscribe to Comcast and pay around $80 a month for cable. BUT I don't own a computer, and don't have internet. (I have access to internet at work and on my phone, so ditched home internet when it stopped working and I had it cancelled). I watch TONS of tv and absolutely love my DVR. Not sure if I'm paying too much for cable, or getting my money's worth by not paying for internet, and because of how much I watch it. It's definitely a trade off, but I'll take tv over the internet any day (my friends all think I'm crazy over this!)
