I often find myself saying I don't have the time. Recently I have found that using a task list and time management software is the most useful technique to manage proper schedule and priorities.
Then, I started to try those techniques. I review my task list and recorded time details on every night as I need to prepare for the next day. I have found by doing this I free up most of my time to catch up on other tasks. Also I will find more time to look into other projects as well. I prefer using Replicon ( http://www.replicon.com/olp/online-time-recording-software.aspx ) for both task and time management.
Us bank did this to me too they said I wasn't approved and then turned around and took the money out and I had overdraft fees and such. Stupid on their part
"Buy the slender, smaller versions (6-9 inches long), as the really big and thick carrots can be woody and tough."
Aha! That's what it is. See, as you were describing the taste of real carrots I thought back to the last time I had them raw, and was fairly unimpressed - to me at least, they hadn't tasted good at all. But I suspect I was eating large ones, and will definitely check out the selection of thin ones next time I'm at the grocery.
That said, I don't really have a problem with people who are willing to pay more for convenience. I know it doesn't sound like a huge inconvenience, but in my experience if you're already slightly resistant to something - say eating healthier - a small bit of inconvenience can be a powerful force. I think that's part of why people reach for junk food instead of healthier food, since often it's bought already in convenient one serving packages.
If you're trying to save money then definitely go for normal carrots, but if you know you will be more likely to eat carrots if they're already washed and peeled for you and you can afford it, then I say go for baby carrots instead. It's all about knowing yourself and your inclinations and priorities. Breaking bad habits is difficult, and sometimes you need a little help along the way.
Thank you so much for this post though - you can only make informed decisions about what's best for you if you have all the information, so this is incredibly useful.
I cut the wallpaper into 1/2" x 4" pieces; then folded each piece and made a gum wrapper-style chain with them. It was very colourful and looked terrific on my Christmas tree!
I also made covered picture frames with cardboard and some quilt batt. They turned out pretty cool
It also made some awesome origami pieces too! Luv, luv LUV wallpaper!
I buy a lot of my cooking utensils at the Dollar Store. Mostly things like salad tongs, plastic stir spoons, measuring cups, etc. I admit I've bought knives too, but mostly when I've been in a situation where I'm going to take the knife somewhere. I figure it's a dollar knife, if I forget to bring it home, no big deal, but I still have some of those dollar knives in my drawer and they work just fine. But for measuring cups, measuring spoons, etc, why spend more?
Glasses and mugs are good if you only need a couple. Otherwise, I have a tumbler set that cost me 8.99 for 12 that I bought at Walmart.
Your article is superb. However I have a question. In my Cash Flow report on Quicken, if I do not include in the report internal transfers (paying debt) then the balance of money in cash flow seems flawed. Why? Suppose my wage is $1000 cash. I spend daily living expenses for $300. Debt for $700. Remaining balance nil. If in the Cash Flow report I do not include debt as expenses, then my balance is $700 cash which in fact I did not have.
My Cash Flow Report will be flawed if I adopt your theory? Am I right? Thanks.
Start the day with gratitude, that is an excellent way to start any day and is bound to make the rest of the day go much smoother. its not that there might not be problems to deal with in the morning or any time of day, its that if we are grateful in that first moment when we wake up, our day magically lines itself up to bring us even more opportunities to be grateful.
what about factoring in nuclear events, such as testing and waste? i live in colorado, and am looking for another pace to live due to fracking and nuclear bomb testing sites, and waste dumping. and evidentally, my daughter, who is constantly online researching says that fukushima HAS affected denver (the geological bowl) , and has the highest score for radioactive readings. i am looking for a healthy place to live geographically, meteorlogically, and radioactively. i am originally from hawaii, but it is so crowded and expensive. i kin of wnat a neat house to live in with a yard, like the older west coast homes in oregon and washngton, and cali, but reasonably easy to find a job and cost of living is good. thanks
Be cautious when using Hotwire. Compare rates at various websites; don't trsut that you'll get a good deal on Hotwire. I've stayed at hotels where guests booking through regular (i.e. non-opaque) agents payed a lower rate than I got on Hotwire -- and didn't have Hotwire's $5-$8 fee on top of it. In fact, you can actually end up paying more on Hotwire than you would booking at the hotel's website -- especially if you qualify for a discount (AAA, senior, military affiliation).
I've stayed at a few hotels over the years, booked in various ways, but now rarely use Hotwire.
I just got a parking ticket for this very reason. I have been driving for 48 years and grew up on the East coast- where I have plenty of experience parking by meters. Never in my life have I gotten a ticket for such a more ludicrous reason.
Years ago, I was planning to refinance after paying down the mortgage quite a bit, and got an offer of 0%. The card allowed $20K, so I paid $20K from my unused equity line to my mortgage, and then used the card transfer to pay that off. In the end, it was a $1000 savings for my efforts. I set an autopay to make sure I didn't miss a payment which would have really messed up the deal.
Before the time ended, I refinanced from 5% to 3.5%, and the card has been empty since.
Hi Tom. I've donated my hair 2 times to Lol. Just had 10 inches cut off last week. My hairdresser knows I don't have very much money, so she gave me my hair & told me alot of people would but it and not to donate it this time. I've been growing it out for over a year. It's never been colored . A couple times I received a body perm as a teenager, that was over 20 years ago. My hair is brown & very thick. It's in a pony tail from the day I got it cut last tues..What's the most I could get for my hair?
Thanks so much for your time,
Desiree
I just advised a close friend of mine to take advantage of a 0% balance transfer option. She was in way over her head on multiple credit cards but by switching to a better card she got free interest for 12 months. That was the final nail in her debt coffin, she is enjoying her financial freedom.
We save one of our two restaurant meals for the month for Valentine's Day. That way it is already in the eating out budget. Plus we don't go to an extravagant restaurant, just a nicer one. I'm planning on spending about $35.
We also don't do gifts or flowers or chocolates. We give each other the gift of time.
I wake up 4:30 A.M and start working and around at 7:00 A.M I work out for 30 minutes. So thanks for these great tips, starting tomorrow I should exercise first before working.
I actually have some friends who have skipped diapers all together and have opted to potty train from birth instead. Talk about a money saver.

We have nothing planned!
When you've both got busy lives, that actually is a treat!
Its true, from Cash Flow point of view internal transfers are 'expenses'.

Baby oil IS mineral oil, so of course it works just as well. And it's also the cheapest of all the oils listed.

Waking up early and taking care of things before work does seem to make such a huge difference!
That will be because of dust/dirt. It works fine on new installations

this ticket will not be paid!
I make cards and gifts. Also, we make a nice dinner instead of going out to eat.

This recommendations are great but I would need to wake up 1-2 hour earlier every day in order to follow them.

Make homemade gifts and cook a nice meal at home for dinner. It's always a winner at our home.
#4 is the biggest one. If you start the day with a positive attitude, you can achieve just about anything!
