We don't right now, but am considering one near us. The place would give the stay-at-home parent an opportunity to exercise (free babysitting), offer swimming lessons to our toddler, and give the whole family a place for activities.
I don't have a gym membership, but would consider if the price was affordable and was for a family discount and had a great swimming pool and programs for kids
Marla, I use that enchilada sauce to make Crockpot Chicken Enchiladas, only i just roughly follow the recipe. I toss in tvp or any leftover meat or beans instead of chicken, flavor compatible leftover veggies and olives, stale tortilla chips (watch the salt)... I also make a white sauce with bouillon and powdered milk instead of the canned soup. My family fondly calls this “crockpot slop” because it isn’t pretty, but there are seldom leftovers when I make it.
No. I use the gym in my building, exercise at home or occasionally use the large fitness center on the military base when I go to the base for shopping. The fitness center on base is great because there's a kids area for my son. It is also easy to exercise in my building because my son can also keep busy on the mats or watching PBSkids or Nick on the TV. There's really no need for me to pay for a membership at this time.
I have a gym membership and, for me, it's worth it. I go 5-6 days a week and since it's a 24/7 gym I can go when it's convenient to me. However, I've been thinking about switching to another gym in town that's a bit cheaper but has more offerings for families, such as a pool, group classes, etc. The only downside will be the hours, especially since it's closed on Sundays.
I've banked with ing since 2007. Now with capital one 360, interacting with my accounts is such a chore. I've noticed that it takes a minimum of 5 days for the money I deposit to become available, and this is only after they receive it, which usually adds a couple days more. To transfer from Sharebuilder to the 360 account, also takes 5 days. So, that means, to pull money out of Sharebuilder, it will take upwards of two weeks before my money ever reaches a bank I can physically touch the money... Needless to say, I am going through the motions to close all accounts.
Watch out for this: You are selling something from your home that you cannot meet someone for ( heavy furniture Items that can't be moved easily) You are contacted by someone that doesn't even want to look at your item and agree to the cost right off. They are VERY interested and want to come pick it up: They ask for the address before they even attempt to set up a meeting time. If you give it to them they start asking you about possible meetings time...THEY NEVER AGREE TO A TIME WHEN YOU SAY YOU WILL BE HOME BUT SUGGEST OTHER TIMES HOPING YOU WILL SAY "WE ARE NOT HOME THEN". THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH TWO OR THREE DIFFERENT "INTERESTED BUYERS" WORKING TOGETHER.
What is happening is that you are basically telling the same people when you won't be home. Pretty much a burglary ring setting up your home.
watch for:
Mostly "female" contacts very "understanding and overly work with you" demeanor
will not give you a cell phone # to talk to them to text them
uses the hidden craigs list email will not provide you with real email contact
uses a group of different tactics to change up meeting times
Never provide you with a real name (always some strange contact cypher)
Once you give them any reason to think they are being scrutinized they bail on the deal
and never hear back from them.
YES I have a membership.
YES it is a worthwhile expense for me.
Through Costco, I purchased a membership to 24 Hour Fitness - at the time it was about $300 or so for a 24 month commitment. NO BRAIN-ER. This investment made perfect sense for me: I workout 5-7 days a week, I travel and can use 24HF facilities in any city, and I'm on a budget. I recently paid a nominal fee to upgrade access to a higher club level so that I could access the facility that is 6 blocks from work. For me this is an essential expense, just like my phone or insurance or rent or grocery costs. I do this for my current and future health (both physical and mental!).
The KEY to making a gym membership worth the cost is COMMITMENT. It will pay you back generously.
You left out one, baba ganoush...a middle eastern dish that is healthy and great tasting. I make it and snack for a light meal with some toasted pita bread. It will keep for a week in the fridge. It is sesame butter (crushed sesame seeds). fresh garlic, fresh lemon juice, and olive oil.
Great article! I would like to point out, though, that the little white bits you see in potting mixes are not styrofoam, but are actually an expanded mineral called perlite. It is very porous and holds water in the soil between waterings, and also helps to aerate the soil. You can find it in garden centers. As for styrofoam, you can add chunks to the bottom of larger containers to keep the weight down (for shallow-rooted plants only, not tomatoes), but you probably shouldn't mix it in with the soil.
Margaret, I have seen it on Amazon, but you are better off using guar gum, also on Amazon, it's natural, made from plant, unlike xanthangum. Do a google search and you'll see what I mean.
Great tips! I just searched my resume now and thankfully I'm not using too many of these at all. I think that's a great point to really look at and improve your linkedin. That's the future!
I buy zip-bags and aluminum foil at the dollar store and love them. The foil is name brand and the brand of bags I use from there are great.
Sometimes you have to experiment and find the better brands there.
I would add to the do not buy list: mini clip-on book lights. They seem like a great deal, but rarely work for more than a few minutes before conking out.
Regarding item #1 : In the past few years, I have purchased both a house and a new car without using credit. It is possible. I do, however use credit cards, but mostly for the convenience and rewards.
Discover Bank has been a nightmare. I had a check that I had overnighted to them and was told that it would post to the account the same day. It never did. When I called they informed me that it would be four days to post so I waited the 4 days and the funds never became available. I called and they said 4 business days and that it would post the next day. I checked the next day and nothing. When I called them back they then informed me that it wouldn't post till after the weekend. I tried to explain to a supervisor that I have been given the wrong information all week. I asked if there was anything they could do and she said no. I then asked the supervisor to listen to the calls she said she was hesitant to listen to the call because it wouldn't change anything. On top of all this the account was compromised due to the Target security breach sending my account into the negative. i asked to have all the fraud charges disputed and to this date I do not see any credits for these. Discover Bank is a joke.

I get YMCA membership through my school!
I use J4U clipper app in android to add all coupons

The video that debunked it... didn't do it right. Instructions were to keep the can upside down - also, they put way too much on..

What a shame...

At least in some places, part of that could be the price floor on milk. There's labor costs involved in getting the milk, so that doesn't help.
That's not to say I approve of drinking tons of soda, but I get where you're coming from.
I agree. It's not like oranges from California magically appear in supermarkets located in New Jersey.
Also that argument ignores the existence of bottling plants, which are more local to the area than the location of the actual company.

I think the best place overall is ebay for those mid to smaller items. The fees are higher, but you usually get more than craigslist.
Nope - complete waste of money for most people. Unless you're a serious body builder or have motivational issues, I don't really see the point.

"Impactful" is not a word.
I DO have one currently - but I'm actually considering canceling! Maybe this contest will help me decide. :)

I have been using it on chigger bites for over 60 years... works great for me.
