My best customer service was from a cast member at Disney World. My husband and I took my father and mother to Disney for their first trip. My mother was 71 and having difficulty with the amount of standing still in lines (moving she was fine). A concerned cast member overheard us discussing the issue and recommended that we get both my parents a disability pass so that the lines would be shorter and frequently would have seating available. It was something I would never have considered since my parents weren't "disabled" but he explained that the passes were also issued for those with physical restrictions such as my mother's diabetic edema for standing. It made the rest of our stay much easier and my mother and father were able to enjoy themselves without pain.
That's awesome. I liked all the points, especially that of the emergency fund. My friends cal me prudent and do stack up some money for emergency purposes. But I never thought of saving money around 6 to 8 months. Till date the emergency fund has at best can sustain me for 2 months but not more than that. However, after reading this blog, I'll surely give it a try and make it a healthy emergency fund. Thanks for showing me the way.
Discover "IT" card has cash back on certain purchases (5% on restaurants right now for example), 1% back on all purchases and NO annual fee. Not sure why all of these "Top 5" cards all have an annual fee. Found the Discover It card after about 2 minutes of searching for cards without annual fees. =)
Agreed on all of the above. Although in some places (Japan comes to mind), they share bathwater with family, but clean their bodies before getting intp the water, so it stays much cleaner. But the idea of lining a bunch of muddy kids up to use the same bathwater is pretty icky.
Concannon Irish Whiskey got a 94 rating and sells for $20 - 22 around here. For those not familiar, Irish has some of the sweetness of bourbon and some of the smokiness of Scotch and should delight fans of either. But be careful - it's way too easy to drink more than you had planned!
Great article, and something to hopefully be applied to smaller natural food stores as well. I love Wise Bread and other money-saving sites, but the "How to feed your family of 4 on $300 a month" types of articles always scare me a bit, as I don't see enough fruits and veggies and healthy proteins in such schemes.
It's an outrage and shame that it's become so expensive to eat healthy, organic foods. I suspect that, in coming years, pesticides, fertilizer chemicals and GMO produce will go the way of asbestos - decades of repressed scientific research, slow political reform, and finally an awakening that what we've been doing has been harmful to ourselves and our world. Or maybe huge agri-bio companies will win out after all. I hope not.
I've seen lots of people selling stuff on FB in some of the groups I joined; it always looked odd and somehow inappropriate - can't give you a rational answer why. It's like the social aspect is ruined somehow. I'll try to be more open-minded about it :)
Great reasons to pay your bills early! Certain healthcare providers will give consumers a discount if they do this. You can also reduce your monthly interest if you pay off credit card bills early, like you can for car loans and mortgage loans. Best of all, paying early will give you a peace of mind and allow you to go about your day stress free!
I think for the 2 years that I was unemployed I have tried pretty much everything listed here and none of them gave me enough money lol. I'm pretty good at sewing and sold some handbags and backpacks on etsy.. reason that didn't work out is because it took me 2 days to make a purse to sell for $40 bucks (sometimes less) and I spent about $15 on materials.. so making about $20 bucks every 2 days was not working so well. I also tried photography, seems like everyone nowadays owns a professional camera and can do it themselves so that didn't work and I take pretty good pics. I tried graphic design as I have a Bachelors on that.. didn't work either, you have to do a lot of free jobs just to build your portfolio. If I'm ever unemployed again I'll try the exchange student deal.. I finally got lucky and found a full time job in my career (software tester), I'm not a mom yet so I was just doing all that while I was looking for real work.. I even tried woodwork, making handmade frames for my photography.. I haven't sold enough to make back what I spent. I don't think I could ever be a stay at home mom unless I really owned a business I could handle from home. For now I'll take advantage of my 8-5 routine that so many people complain about, but the money I make per hour doesn't even compare to trying to sell crafts or skills. I'm having a baby soon and although I wish I could stay at home once he's born, the stress I had while I was unemployed was unbearable (I like my own money even though my husband works and provides, its just not the same) so I know I won't be quitting anytime soon. The only thing I could recommend for you ladies staying at home is a service.. I made more money taking photos for real estaters (all u do is take pics of empty homes) than I did with my purses (which looked like Juicy Couture by the way, not simple ugly purses lol). Trying to sell things you make takes too much time for the lil reward. Offer a service, massage, cosmetology, baby or new born photos, child care from your home.. etc. That's what I'd try next.
Even if JB Weld is conductive, and I'm not sure that it is, it will never be a substitute for solder in an application such as this. A good solder joint is essentially a zero resistance joint. Resistance at the joint will produce heat which is not what you want, especially with a Lithium Ion battery. Skip the JB Weld and do it properly, don't cheap jack it.
Great article! I get cold sores and when I do I only get them on by bottom lip, directly on the lip and they are horrendous. I actually have one forming now and I'm regretting the upcoming week. I've tried just about every trick in the book ointments, medicine, ice, witch hazel, lysine....the list goes on. At this point I've realize sometimes doing to much can make it worse. I just ice it, keep lips moist with Chapstick, immediately get abreva. I know it's expensive but I find it's way better than carmex and helps the blister from getting to it's worse. Valtrex works great but again pretty expensive, not to mention you have to go to the doctor and get a perception.(worth it tho if you have the time and $)Get lots of rest and work on getting your immune system up.
I am trying to rebuild my credit and I already have a Capital One Secured Credit card. What I am wanting to know is should I obtain more than one card to help boost my credit rating
My best customer service believe it or not came from paypal, who assisted me after two or 3 months of my trying unsuccessfully to close out a prepaid netspend account. The card people kept adding fees and I had to have an exact zero balance to close the account, They made it ridiculously hard to add money to the card without paying high fees, their customer service was practically nonexistent, finally a nice customer service rep at paypal assisted me at no charge to myself, to transfer money onto the card and I was able to close the account less than 24 hours after paypal helped me, when I had wasted 2 or 3 months trying unsuccessfully through the issuing Netspend company. I have had only great service through paypal and contrary to what a lot of others have said about them I highly recommend them. Nobody moves money like paypal moves money!
I found a company that makes very safe cleaning products, including laundry detergent and fabric softener; it is called Melaleuca. I also liked that all of the products are made in the USA. I personally use the laundry detergent, but have opted for wool balls with lavender essential oil for my dryer. My clothes are soft and smell terrific.
I recently had such dedicated customer service from two people at Lowe's that I wrote the corporate office to say they deserved kudos. The store manager got back to me, so I hope both people got some kind of recognition.
I hadn't heard of being able to save money on bills or reduced property tax. I wonder if it's sort of a backward penalty? Like maybe rather than announcing increased rates, they announced an advantaged 'pay early' option which was actually the old price?
Then again, having worked contracts before, the carrying cost of paying salaries on credit is VERY expensive, and my company literally had millions in interest costs as a result of 60 day payment terms with clients. For every day we reduced it, we saved (I am not sure how much it was exactly, but it was close to) $3 million. Clients who didn't really want our services could just pay us 30 days late and we'd stop working for them soon after because our margins were so tight that we'd no longer make money working for that client.

Definitely a file-worthy post :) I need to try that zucchini melody thing.

An all meat diet can be bad for a dogs temperament and diet. Do your own research...the original poster is extremely misinformed.
Target has always been great... fast, easy, very helpful.
Can you recommend some free apps (from number 2)?

I have never had any trouble after entering my social security number. But some of the applications seem a bit intrusive.
My advice, do some research on a company you may want to work with. Try to go with reputable companies.
Some will be better than others, some have a reputation for not paying. Do one shop, wait to get paid before doing alot more.
Hope that helps

My doctor! She calls and checks on me when I am sick. How's that for service!
I want to get started as a Mystery Shopper, but am reluctant to put my social security number on these sites. Anyone have any trouble with this?

Hands down, Costco. I don't return a lot, but when I do there's no hassle.
Worse than before. Used WD-40 on unsealed colored concrete to get oil stains out. Now I have a WD-40 darker stain on my concrete. Very unhappy!
