Anyone who tells you to give up credit completely and permanently is trying to sell an idea that has a very limited real-world application??? Really? Just get a prepaid debit card for online purchases & car/hotel rentals/reservations and go cash only. Don't put your money in banks!!! 20 Years ago you were paid to deposit money in banks now they charge you, and go beg congress for your tax dollars on top of everything else. I just closed all my banks accounts (credit union too) and I've still got money at the end of the month!!! P.S. Its surprising how little online purchases I make now. I realized that they were impulse buys!!
Many years ago, I used to work in a very small office. Even though we had only worked together a few months, my boss noticed that I loved to read books (on my breaks), and bought me a large gift certificate for a local bookstore. To this day, I still consider it one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received from anyone; including my family.
I thought this was sort of cool that I found just browsing. Be warned, this will not make you rich. This is something to give you that little extra which always helps.
I did not realize until recently that people actually make money dressing as Santa Claus and visiting homes, events, and gatherings. So if you can actually build the clientele through ground marketing just printing some black and white flyers and handing them out in your neighborhood you stand to make a quick 100 bucks.
I am actually thinking about joining this site (www.hellosantallc.com) which seems to help facilitate this sort of activity and increase my efforts. It’s only about 2 dollars to post my photo there and make my quick business seem a little more legitimate.

The best gift I ever received was a bottle of perfume that I didn't even like. It was after the birth of my first child, and everything was all about the baby (which was fine, of course) but one friend of my mom's thought to remember me, the mama. It made such a huge impression on me that I have done this most of the time I give new baby gifts.
My favorite gift was my sewing machine my husband bought me when we were first together. I didn't really want it because then I would have to start sewing- now I love it and I'm so glad he bought it for me (and the one that replaced it last year)
One of the best gifts I ever received was a Kindle. At the time I received it, I was living in a very small town that had no bookstore and a ratty, under-funded library. I was also really broke and gasping for books. The Kindle gave me access to tons of free books, and I was able to use the 3G feature to access news, weather and email, allowing me to cut the Internet off at home and save money. It was a lifesaver in that small town and I really needed it!
(More recently, I'd say the best gift I got was a pair of lovely, warm, happy bedroom slippers. They make me smile every time I put them on!)
I recently learned how a major department store does their BOGO in the shoe dept. I bought two pairs of shoes the night before the BOGO, the next morning I went back to return the shoe to repurchase them through the BOGO sale. I paid $34.99 on the first pair and $32.99 on the other, total $68.98. When I went to the shoe dept. the clerk was frantically changing prices, I noticed the shoes I had purchased were still at the price I had paid the night before. I asked her if the BOGO was for all shoes, she said yes. When I said that was a great deal, because I had just bought the shoes the night before on sale. She asked me which shoes, when I showed her, she said "Oh wait, I haven't changed the price on those yet!". She changed the $34.99 To $80 and the $32.99 to $70. I asked her why she raised the price, she smiled excitedly and said, "Because it's our BOGO sale. Meaning I would have paid $80 vs $68.98.
My hubby bought me the Blu-ray of Pride and Prejudice. I had worn out my videotape (literally couldn't watch it because there was no sound and the picture was fuzzy). I LOVE that movie and watch it often. Which reminds me, I may be watching it again soon!!
Several stand out, but this was the best. My husband's mom passed away when he was 18. He and I got engaged when he was a was a poor broke grad student and couldn't afford a ring. His father gave him his mom's engagement ring to give to me during a visit to his home. It fit perfectly. I started crying, and when his dad saw me wearing it he started crying..... I treasure that ring because of what it means to everyone.

I am a hotwire "preferred customer" have been using it for years recently booked a hotel room in Fort Lauderdale the room rate was 151 dollars as compared to 176 dollars on the hotel web sit, however hotwire charged me an extra 27 dollars in fees and taxes, as compared to what the hotel would have charged. This was a standard room not the super secret one.
When I called hotwire the gentleman told me to call back was the hotel website is down, I was informed that I should check before I click and also that the since the room rate is lower they will not cancel my booking nor will they match the lower total. So basically we have your money and we will keep it if you done like it go some where else.Don’t take the preferred customer/ low rate guarantee too seriously we sure don’t. So what is the point of getting a low rate when hotwire fees, make the total amount great then what you pay directly to the hotel.
My advice is what hotwire told me always check with the hotels in the location first, don’t just trust hotwire to get you the lowest rates, and guarantee, preferred customer or not once you pay they will not care and are willing to lose future business. I am going to take my business else ware.

I always like to take a look inside of my closet to see what I truly need and don't need before I go shopping. This way, I don't feel so bad about the purchases I do end up making!
I feel like you could easily find similar looking jewelry at the mall. Always compare prices and see if your item is truly unique before purchasing! :)
I have found that the original recipe of Coke was what worked the best for all these things-- yes, the one with cocaine in it-- and yes it did have it in it at one time. There may be things that it does still does work wonders with-- but some were the best with the original concoction. Some people still actually have stockpiles of this-- strange world we have -- Hugh?!

Being I don't like "stuff" the best gift I ever got was a coupon book for free coffees at DunkinDonuts.

These are great reminders! It's unfortunate that some of them need to be said at all...but some of these have completely fallen by the wayside :(
