Autumn is my very favorite season. My husband and I host Friday night scary movie parties for the entire month of October, which is such a fun way to kick off the weekend.
We make sure to hit up the local pumpkin patch and this year we took turns with another couple, taking portraits to use for Christmas gifts. We also went through the corn maze for the first time ever.
The leaves this year in Oregon have been gorgeous and so I make sure that I take time to appreciate the foliage show as I'm driving to and from work or running errands.
And like lots of people, I love the seasonal coffee drinks at Starbucks!
I love cooking soups and stews, and baking bread in the autumn. It's too hot in the summer to cook such things, but when the first real chill in the air hits---ahh!
Five months ago, a guy asked me to friend him. I told him no because I didn't know him and I was already in a relationship.
To make a long story short, after a few days, he contacted me and we began emailing each other. He's in a foreign country on a work visa and will be finished and going back to his home country in about two weeks.
A week ago he asked me for $25K to help him out to get some equipment out of customs. He is a contractor. From what he told me, customs denied him his equipment because they said he violated some custom/shipping laws. They ordered him to pay $75K before he could get his mining equipment to its destination. Allegedly he gave them $50K. He also mentioned he had squandered the cash he took with him to this country and admitted it was his fault.
When I told him no, he blew up and wrote me a horrible email telling me he would never trust women again and that I was "awkward" (what he meant by that, I have no clue) and attempted to lay a guilt trip on me.
I immediately blocked this person on FB and my email. I was going to report him to FB, though deleted the email before that thought crossed my mind!
Besides that, I don't know what to tell them. I've checked every website I know of to find out who the person REALLY is, to no avail.
He has a very common name - popular in the country in which he lives.
I've not responded to his last derogatory correspondence because I feel the loser doesn't deserve a response.
I guess what I'm trying to say is "Beware the internet and all the nut cases and losers preying on unsuspecting people!"
I was almost taken in, when my common sense and intuition clicked. Thank goodness for that.
I can't believe someone would have the intestinal fortitude to ask a person they've only known - via internet/Skype - for such a large amount of money, except for losers, creeps, and crooks. Not sure which one of those descriptions fits! More than likely all of them.
I believe he is in dire straights, though, as I pointed out to him - it's not my responsibility.
Watch your money, make a budget, I don't care how much money you have. One day you may not have it, and then you'll have to ask an unsuspecting soul, family, or friends for it.
I believe that's a good way to lose your family and friends. LOL
Believe it or not, cooking is one of my favorite Fall hobbies. I don't cook much in the summer. Come Fall, I start making stews, soups, etc. I also love walking in our local parks.
My favorite fall activity is to go up to the apple orchards and get all kinds of apple everything! We get a peck of apples, and we also take home some apple bread, apple cider doughnuts, apple butter.. all kinds of goodies.
My favorite fall activities are: Going to visit best friends for a weekend, jumping in piles of leaves, going on vacation (when everyone else is back in school!), and enjoying the last sunny days before the w-season sets in. Trying now to squeeze in every drop of sunshine that we can!
Something that helps me save money and keep my pantry from getting stale is skipping grocery shopping one week every month or two. It forces me to get creative with what we have, and usually results in getting rid of a can or two that has been sitting on the shelf a little too long.
It isn't much but it dose help tuck your pants into socks and make sure first layer of clothes hugs you tight as tight as it can so you can still move. Buy inexepensve leotard and some shorts shorts as small as you can stand to wear that don't give you wedge. If can only find decent tank leo you will want an under shirt. Put shorts over leo if shorts make you uncomfortable tight capri pants over leo. Thermal shirt and pants over that and then normal outfit. I lost some weigbt recently so time for smaller base layers which gets intresting with long inseam and wide shoulders in womens clothes
I second Trent from The Simple Dollar. His tips are simple, and his tone is friendly and not one bit pretentious. I like that he factors charitable giving and other good works into his idea of a frugal lifestyle, too.
In Australia, about 80- 90 % of jobs require you to put up money up front for a purchase.
there are the bank visits, some phone call jobs, police enquiries, etc that do not. Be prepared to ask something very silly and humiliating as required int he job brief though.
Here, some some jobs wil reimburse you 4 months after the job, and long after the job is over, you get a phone call asking you for additional detail about something that was not part of the report.
This is difficult if you do an average of 6 jobs a day, 365 days a year.

Some reports are quite complicated.
Try driving all day to an accommodation job. You have already made your booking, researched the venue and written a 3000 word report on the booking process.
You now have to write another report on the venue, the reception process, the exit process at reception and a meal report.
Remember now, you have a 24 hour time limit to return your 5 essays which have about 3000 words each, and about 20 questions for each division. If you miss your deadline, you won't get reimbursed.
Be sure you book out of this venue by the customary 9. 30 or 10 am or else you spend more money that you will be repaid.
If you wait a month or two, you might get your "remibursement only" pay.
If you have a family, it is a burden to most most mystery shoppers. You have to leave them at home as a rule, for nearly every cpmpany's policy. There was one exception, but even a drive through tke away require you to be alone.
I do mystery shopping full time. I average $2 hour, as it is a round the clock job. Today I was invited to do 3am jobs.

Lots of walks, soups and roasted veggies, coffee/cider/hot chocolate, and a road trip to somewhere nearby with amazing foliage!
Baking and hiking.
In the fall, I enjoy driving the Blue Ridge Parkway to take in the scenery.
Raking the leaves into a big pile and JUMPING!!!!

I find myself baking and canning now that it's fall. And worrying about holiday gifts (I like to make a lot of my gifts.)
