I like to read in a comfortable corner with a nice cup of chamomile tea and some classical music playing. My cats agree, and like to snuggle up on the blanket on my lap. I try to do this at least once a week in the evening when my husband wants to watch a show or play his video games.
My favorite relaxing thing to do is kayaking! (Although going on a choppy lake is not exactly relaxing, but it's really fun!) A quiet paddle like a friend and I did last night, watching the sun set over the lake from our boats, just lovely.
I think the best way is to setup a separate savings account and automatically deduct some affordable portion into this account. Bonus points if you make the money hard to get at (cut up the debit card)!
95% of my stress is caused by my hubby of 40 years, so i used to drive truck, now i cannot physically, so i take as many short vacations as possible...even when i'd come home while driving, the tension would get so bad that i'd be glad to leave (sometimes)...now maybe i need to "get a new plan" but my way of dealing with an uncomfortable spouse allows my to see wondrous things-locally i have alot of investi-gation to do, alot of neat, fun places to visit
I really enjoyed reading your article. We all come across people that we don't get along with and having a few strategies at hand to deal with them is useful. My favorite one has to be switching topics. I guess that is because I have found it particularly useful in many situations. I plan to incorporate the disarming technique more into my interactions with some particular people!
fyi a lot of dryer sheets have many chemicals known to be toxic to humans. The Environmental Working Group has put together what is known about dryer sheets and other cleaning and laundry products.
here is the link to a list of various dryer sheets - if you click on any one of them you can find out more about them and their ingredients.
If you have a whole household to move, instead of hiring a moving company which quoted me $11,000 to go from coast to coast, I hired ABF Trucking. With ABF, an empty trailer is dropped off at your house. You pack and load everything yourself, lock the trailer, then call for the driver to pick up the trailer. At your new destination, the driver leaves the packed trailer at your new place. You unload the trailer yourself. Instead of $11,000, I paid $3,000. It's a great way to move, if you're strong enough to load and unload your stuff.
Jamie, Avon just might be the best way to go, years ago like about "20 years" I did Avon and back then we went door to door, now you can do all of your selling online. You don't even have to leave your house.
A new one that came out is called www.FinalRoadMap.com . It is a planning site that accommodates most everything out there from bank accounts to what happens to your pets when you die. This company has really thought through most everything and also allows for assignments for beneficiaries to access certain information today or upon your death via what they call a "death notification".
#3 is the best advice. Know that you should be in the market for the long run. Just dollar cost average and tie your hands.
It is nearly impossible to time the market over a lifetime, and you're surely more likely to get results behind the S&P-500 over the LONG term. DO NOT TRY TO TIME THE MARKET!
Funny story, when on a trip in China with our MBA class, one girl purchased a scarf for $270 US!!!!!!
I nearly had a stroke! I'm so frugally minded that something like this was literally inconceivable to me.
Getting back on topic, frugal is in the mind of the beholder. Each person has a different value on their resources (time, money, knowledge, etc.). What is frugal to one can be incredibly cheap to another.
I am glad I ran by this site I didn't know that witch hazel was so useful. I love it when people use homeopathic remedies on pets and themselves. Pharmaceuticals aren't always the way to go and can be more hurtful in the long run with side affects and what not esp.. with pets and not knowing for sure what is wrong plus they grew up in the wild and we always have to do right by them. I will def. try this with my babies ear infections. For myself too with this heat and my face getting all icky with my makeup, lol.
Well this is how I view it,If you are a unskilled worker and are getting up there in age and you have put in thousands and thousands of applications all over the united states and you never get one call ,how are you suppose to feel ,if you have no social network what advice can you give.

Baking bread. Punching the dough is very therapeutic!
I relax by zoning out in front of the TV. I love watching Bravo reality shows.

I have a goal to sell one item a week (kids toy, personal item, etc.)
This helps to constantly get rid of all of the junk that we accumulate throughout our lives!

If it's summer I sit out on the deck and read a book or just sip a glass of wine and enjoy listening to the sounds of the outside.

Great article. I find it very interesting that now is a great time to buy laptops, but a bad time to buy desktops.

The homemade water park is a great idea!
Also, how about a family bike ride?? Our kids love those.
I'd rename this article "ONE way to change your life."

Thanks for all the helpful tips!
Not insisting that my spouse use an accountant to do the taxes for a small business. The IRS has ruined us.

Putting most of an inheritance into an old house we'd purchased. And then the market dropped out
