This year I am working on living on less. The less the better. I want to prepare myself for living well on social security alone---in case I have no other choice. Part of this is also increasing my emergency fund. I hope to use my IRA income less and to wait until age 70 when payout will be optimal. It is a tall order but I am determined.
I agreed with the logic in all of them (even though I may not follow them to a T in my personal life), but #9 seems to be the least accurate/ practical.
When you use recruiters you get emails 24/7 - they found something and want you to look at it right then, please call me in 15, please drop everything and do this phone interview smack in the middle of the afternoon. You could use your personal phone to follow emails for some of this, but you need a computer to upload a resume and often have to step away from your "real job" to take calls for that potential future job. It's just a reality that happens.
I would love it if hiring managers would consider the disrespectful way their asking me to behave to my current company when they request that I basically drop everything and interview the next day after a phone interview - one or two days notice would be great so you can tactfully arrange a time with your own manager. Most sites also discourage using sick leave, but I think that's a big myth - unless you're only interested in this one company and think it'll be two rounds then hired, I don't see how you can afford to take frequent random vacation days (especially if you need permission to use them.)
The recruiting/ hiring process as a whole could use some empathy - what would you want that same employee doing in a few years when they may be looking for a new job?
We are planning on purchasing a home this year, so we have been frugal, setting aside as much money as possible. Our goal this year is to continue this trend until we have our agreed upon amount set aside. We are also living as if we are paying the mortgage we have budgeted, which is helping with our savings.
Last year we had to put a new roof on our house, my husband broke his foot and was on Workman's Comp (which didn't pay as much as his normal wages), and our daughter had an expensive medical treatment that wasn't covered by insurance (but it worked!!!!).
Needless to say, our savings took a beating.
This year, our goal is to have no debt again, and get our savings back up to what we're comfortable with!
There's nothing more frustrating that having a cheaply made thing fail in the middle of a project. Pet peeves, picking hairs off a newly painted wall from a cheap paintbrush, a Phillips head screwdriver stripping because the metal is soft.
Good basic tools. Hammer with a rubberized handle, pliers, needle nosed pliers, spackle knife, angled paint brush, set of screwdrivers, etc. They allow you to do a better job on those DIY household projects and somewhat offset lack of skill. Instructions are easily found online for many maintenance issues and repairs. A little investment saves oodles.
Good versatile household appliances, like a blender or mixer. A couple good kitchen knives. A few heavy bottomed pots and pans with lids. An oversized cutting board, doubles up as a sink cover for added counter space. Less frustration aids confidence and everyone is happier with better eats.
I'm saving saving saving. I'll be maxing out my IRA, as well as increasing the amount contributed to my employer-sponsored retirement plan. I also hope to buy a house this year, but modest homes in my target neighborhood are at least 50k out of my budget, so...
Took 11 years to reach an 800 credit score on my own (29 year old without a home mortgage), but I do receive many credit card offers, and do collect 2%+ cash back on every purchase with my card, with 0% interest seeing as its paid off every month.. But didn't need an 800 credit score for the best credit cards offered, ~mid 700s will suffice.
For the guys who are looking for a best power bank for their devices, Zendure charger is highly recommended.I also needed a power bank for my iPad.I was so confused about the best one then my brother recommend me to buy it.It's really a fantastic product with high durability. It is light weighted i.e easy to carry anywhere.
Anyone have any idea whether or not I could use this on my heating unit's fan blades? It's been sleeting all day and the ice keeps collecting around the top of the inside and the fan blades.. We keep going out there and scraping as best we can, but it's hard to reach it all. I was wondering if we could try spraying this it?
another impact may be the return of the lumber wars, where american companies complain that cheap Canadian lumber is taking over the market, and will put in tarrifs to keep it out. This will increase the cost of housing. Maple syrup wars are coming too.
We only bought one small package of chocolate for Valentine's Day. Hubby said he suspected I'd be hitting the sales today (day after) so he didn't need to get me anything :)
Well, IRA is one of the savings which contributes to financial healthiness during retirement days. These mistakes must be avoided as we can be a trap to loss.

My goal is to save for my child's college
My goal is to max out my 401k
My financial goal for 2016 is to pay down the mortgage by adding more money to the payment each month.

We would like to set money aside to eventually buy a 2nd home as an investment.

I want to finally have enough in my emergency savings so that it covers 6 months

His spelling is perfectly fine. "American-English" is the distorted version of the correct English language.

Very informative! Thanks for writing this.
I'm going to see how this works the next time I shop at Target and Sam's Club.
