I have a guy wanting to buy an item from me. He says he will pay $40.00 more than my asking price due to him having to put me off twice. He says he will bring cash. Is this a scam?
Wow! I have three dogs and two cats and I can afford to feed them, love them, bathe them, shelter them etc.. All 3 of my dogs and my two cats live in luxury. They never miss a meal, they never miss their shots, they never miss their baths. With that being said, how can you sit there an say you should not own a pet if you cant afford an emergency vet bill up front? Do you know how many people can not put that kind of money back? I take great care of all of my pets, recently another dog attacked mine while walking him on a leash. We rushed him to the 24 pet hospital with a chunk torn out of his throat and he's 12 years old. The bite severed a blood vessel tore muscle tissue and he ended up with a drain in his neck, stiches and staples, he was on 3 weeks worth of antibiotics and pain meds we had to go back 3 times once to get the drain removed, once to check the staples and once to remove the staples. The vet bill totaled about 800.00 which we did not have laying around. We talked to family and they helped us take care of the bill and we paid them back within two weeks. So, with that said are you saying I should not own animals because I did not have a large amount of money socked away? OR maybe in your eyes I should have just put him down because he was attacked by someone else's pet who was not being responsible. OR maybe I should just get rid of all of them because I'm not loaded. Think about what you say before you speak. Just because people do not have a huge amount of money in an account does not mean they should not have pets. I hate hate hate it when people say that. Most people end up with pets because the pet needs a home or is going to be put to sleep. They don't plan to get the pet, but when they do they make sure they are taken care of. Again, think before you speak.
Very good article. There is another type of natural diamond that many people who have come across this article may appreciate - GIA certified natural HPHT diamonds. They are quite desirable because of their affordability, top-tier grades and beauty. Just make sure you're looking at GIA certified NATURAL HPHT diamonds - not the synthetics.
Every year at Christmas our family took the rapid transit downtown. We visited the big department stores. We marveled at Sterling Linder's towering Christmas tree, the Twigbee Shop which was just for children to buy presents for their families and Halle's 7th floor where Mr. Jingeling, Keeper of Santa's keys greeted us before we saw Santa.
Dinner was at the Silver Grille where kids dinners arrived in cardboard stoves that we could take home. It was magical!
Excellent tips all, but I would move 11 to the number 1 spot. At 65, I decided to "move more" to improve my health and enjoyment of life. I started by contacting a wellness coach provided at no additional charge by my health insurance and medical care provider. She helped me clarify reasons for wanting to get stronger and more active and set safe reasonable goals that would bring me success right away. After about 6 weeks, I had developed the habit of regular exercise. Now a year later, I am exercising about 300 minutes a week, learning to play golf (#20 not the list), and feeling so much better and happier. So I recommend #11 and getting a wellness coach.
Feeling 10 years younger would be a boon for all of us to achieve. I loved your 30th point i.e, to focus inwards. Meditation and other religious activities keeps a mental balance and good health. Good Post!! Thanks for sharing.
My favorite childhood memory was the Christmas I was 9 because we got a stereo that year. Also, the trip to mom's sister's house was especially nice that year.
I have to agree with the person who commented on the difficulty in persuading rescue organization to part with their dogs. We tried, filled in a 5 page questionnaire including questions about what our backyard fence was made of. We were turned down because we both worked. (as teachers, who have better vacation times than some). It helps to have employment to pay for your pet costs. Ultimately, we bought our purebred dog from a private breeder for not much more than the Rescue organization was asking. I understand that some sort of checking out is required but a call to our vet would have confirmed that our dog and cat are well cared for.
So, let me understand what you're saying here on regards to the bus crash. The driver had a speeding ticket 16 years prior and that is something to hold against him? Driving on a suspended license twice - suspended for what, and when? I suppose it depends on the state but in CA speeding tickets are only going to stay of for 3 to 5 years, a suspension for 10. But I have to ask the question - For how long does one have to suffer repercussions for mistakes made? Is a speeding ticket at all relevant 16 years later?
I feel fortunate that I have too many to name! One of my favorite childhood memories was going 'down the shore' with my family every summer. My mother was a teacher and my father would take off a month in the summer so we had a lot of time together.
watch out for getting overcharged if you don't have a member card. I've experienced this in quite a few major cities traveling internationally now. I spend an hour picking out my cart full of stuff, stand in line for 20 minutes and then get up to the stand and they ask if I have a member card (this is for just a regular store and no mention was made of this card on the sale signs). Then, I notice I get charged more than I was expecting.
Maybe this is their way of making sure tourists pay more, or maybe this is just a habit countries are adopting all over the world ( I know they do this in the U.S but I don't shop anywhere you have to have a card to get the price on the shelf)
In any case, watch out for using (and counting on) the prices on the signs in front of items, if you are in a store with a member card.
#4 is patently fraudulent advice from a website claiming to be wise about your "bread" (money). The first rule of getting out of debt is to NEVER EVER use credit to pay off other credit (debt). It's not worth the 1% rewards to do that. Would you buy a car with a credit card if you were lower middle class? Would you pay off 10,000 dollars in student loans with a credit card (which by the way most lenders or admins for lenders do not let you do). I mercilessly subjugated my student loans and maxed out my 401k contributions in less than 10 months by making shrewd life decisions not by chasing points and %'s back. Credit Cards are a cancer if you can't use them responsibly. If you truly believe that #4 is sound advice then you need to put the caveat in that the person has to have the liquidity in his/her bank account to pay off the credit card balance on the same day.
Americans have an insatiable appetite for fast Chinese food. The franchise choice for me would be Panda Express (esp in a high foot traffic area like in a mall food court).

I haven't quit yet, but I'm already looking for another job. I'm a truck driver in Los Angeles. You can just imagine what driving an 18-wheeler thru L.A. must be like. Adding to the stress of driving is the culture that is getting out of control. What I mean is that the new drivers and the veteran drivers are constantly taking shortcuts, specially in safety. They're not inspecting their vehicles the way that they should and when they find something, they're not passing it on to the next person that will be driving that vehicle.
When a person holding a CDL(Commercial Driver's License), is too lazy to change a turn signal bulb, or a wiper blade, parks a truck and puts it "out of service" for a flat tire instead of getting it fixed, we have problems.
I've tried over and over again to bring these concerns to management, but I'm just ignored. So I'm actively looking for another job.

I loved our day trips to the beach. My parents had four kids, so this was like our vacation. We always had a great time.

You could have at least given Dave Ramsey an honorable mention...
