This one should be pretty obvious to anyone who shares my habit. I can live without them. In fact I will live longer without them, beel better without them, and have about $200 extra dollars in my pocket every month without them. Cigarettes. Wish me luck!
I am very frugal and utilize a lot of freebies but would have to say I could cut out picking up food on the way home from a late class on Wed. nights and fixing food at home.
I know this is not a recent article, but thank you for posting this.
I just received a $2700 check in the mail with directions to wire them back a large sum of money...just as your article described. Everything looks very professional down to the last detail, but something just wasn't sitting well with me. The letter even says "Even though this is only a training exercise for you, it should be considered a job interview". I hopped online to see if this was legit by looking for a website or any information on this company and found nothing.
But I did find your article...and so glad that I did!
The offer DID seem to good to be true and you've saved me from possibly doing something stupid by trying it out.
A million times, thank you!
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is the independent agency that administers the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). Like the FDIC's Deposit Insurance Fund, the NCUSIF is a federal insurance fund backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government.
I buy shirts and dresses for work, the quality is good, and you can order them tailored to your height/bust/shoulders, etc. Beautiful clothes! and if you look under the "overstock" tab you can get some real bargains, i just look every few days for my size.
also, dont forget about estate sales for bigger sizes in cool, eclectic patterns. You can find old school 50's and 60's dresses and skirts and polyester shirts (that are really cool) when an older person passes away and the family just puts up everyhing in the house for sale. You can really find some steals!
For me, staying asleep is not the problem. It's falling asleep. I can lay down with my eyes closed for 2 hours sometimes and still be very awake. But once I'm out I feel for the sorry SOB who wakes me. Just wish I could fall asleep faster.
Funny enough, I have no problem sleeping in the sun. I love a good nap in my car at lunch time. I just set my phone alarm and I'm out in 5 minutes. I was a day-sleeper as a teen too. On the weekends I often stay up and do extra chores or reading until 3am, just because I feel so relaxed and peaceful at that time.
Is it possible that I am just night person? A true blue night owl who'll never get used to sleeping at night and waking in the morning. Are there people who just naturally sleep better in the day and are more productive at night?
These are good ideas... like keeping track of what is in your Credit Card. The big issue if you want to record your CC#'s is where do you keep this that is accessible update-able and secure?
I would like to put this in a google doc but not sure if that is truly safe enough.
The only item in our budget that we could live without as a family I think is our home phone. I have a cell phone and both my teenage boys do as well but it's such a minimal cost since it is bundled in with our satellite service and internet, I just haven't called to cancel it.
Great Advice! Putting social security and lumping all your credit cards in one basket is a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, I learned it the hard way when my wallet was stollen on the upper westside of nyc.
When I was in the academe, I had a student who took up engineering because his parents wanted it and not because he really dreamed to become one. Let's call him John. Recently, I found out from his friends that he is now successful.... painter and sculptor. I learned that after college, John worked in a semiconductor industry as a researcher; however, he did not enjoy his job so he resigned and while waiting for his next job, he made a painting and gave it to a friend as a wedding gift. He made another one and sold it. He followed his heart. He enjoys what he is doing. He made a career and succeeded.
I could certainly live without cable, which is the next item on my list that I will be cutting out. I've already saved money by eating out much less, making more meals from scratch, driving less, dry-lining some of our clothes, performing my own manicures and pedicures, and making my own brown sugar body scrubs. I'm sure there are other things I can cut from our budget!
i guess if i had to, i could give up netflix. hard because we don't have cable, but there is always the library to source movies and tv shows. pretty much everything else is an essential, including savings!
Absolutely! Thanks for the reminder. I'm guilty of the social security cards and there's no reason to be because I know my number from memory anyway - out it comes tonight!

I could give up the pricey media package for all our cell phones. That would save a ton of money!
I could live without cable television & going out to eat for lunch...

Mmm...at least it's a delicious problem!
I already like you on Facebook!
I was guilty of this one too -- until my wallet was stolen. Thankfully this was back before identity theft was as prevalent as it is today.
Chocolate!

Thoughts?
Coke Zero. I know it's awful for me and it's an expensive habit, but I just haven't given it the final kick yet.

If you plan to put mint in your garden, be sure to keep it in a separate container - it will spread like wildfire!
I have given up cable and Netflix to save money on entertainment. I would also be willing to give up manicures and pedicures.

The writer did say "BEFORE" but still so many people who wrote about tip calculation seem to not have understood that. How scary.
