And you would be wrong. Homeopathy is a different thing than other alternative medicine. Which is part of the problem, people don't know the differences.
After a coworker put bug spray in my iced tea to get my job, I rediscovered plain old tap water, straight from the cold faucet. I actuall feel better since I gave up the tea, and have learned to love the taste of an ice-free glass. Lessons from the new economy...
Thank you for sharing. Organization, family money management and cleaning up are always popular new year resolutions since people want to start out their next year on a successful track.
The lists are great; but implementing them involves writing these goals down and turning them into habits. A common problem I've had, as do many others, is getting overwhelmed by trying to go after all the goals at the same time.
Setting to achieve 2-3 goals (with a step by step to achieve each one) a month is doable since it takes 3-4 weeks for a habit (the step by step) to become ingrained in your subconcious.
Use cheap "sizzler" pans-they look like small enameled woks- and eat out of the pan. Use the titanium camping spork. Keep a scotchie soaped with anti-bacterial detergent and wash up immediately after cooking. Use a roll-up cutting pad or sink top plastic board.
WalMart online has a combo coffee maker and toaster oven with a small burner on top. Saves space. Buy collapsible bowls, colander, funnel (or use a cut-down water bottle for a disposable funnel. Think square, think stackable. Find that five-ingredient cooking website and have fun.
Jim-would you please get over yourself? I don't know if you are married or not, but plenty of people get divorced who "never thought it would happen to them". If you are married, perhaps you can experience the "joy" of serial infedelity from your partner, complete with an STD she passes on to you (the gift that keeps on giving!), or you can defend yourself from years of physical and emotional abuse, or sit by and watch while your children are abused. Then, on your deathbed, you can self-righteously proclaim how you "made your marriage work".
I love to think outside the box. When gift giving, I like to think of traditional and sentimental gifts. I’ve found a way to achieve both with a tight budget in mind!
To start, find out where your gift recipient was born, grew up, fell in love with their spouse, etc. Next, phone the town’s historical society and ask if there are specific pictures of the location(s) of interest to your recipient from maybe the turn of the century or any other specific year range. Have them email any prospects to you. Simply print at home, frame with either a handmade frame or one purchased at your local craft store and voila! A traditional, sentimental gift for your frugal friends with a touch of history.
Instead of buying veggies and other spices, why not grow the basics in your backyard or on a pot. It will definitely save you money and will give you a choice if you want it organic or not.
Thank you so much for this list! As someone who feels completely overwhelmed with learning the gluten-free thing, on a budget, this was really helpful. Plus, I love the way you wrote it, very funny comments...a much needed laugh!:)
I decided to use my great grandmother's silver for Christmas dinner. I don't plan on selling it so I might as well use and enjoy it. It was tarnished though and I did not want to eat off of tarnished silver... not appetizing. I tried this and it worked beautifully! It eliminated 99% of the tarnish on a set of silver that is at least 60 years old and that had been in storage and unused for at least 20 years.
i am 50 years old, stuck in a job where new colage graduates are promoted before me, yet my performance is better, prior career was in realestate and that market has deminished, no collage dergree, have 3 kids, the olderst just graduate collage and works at a major tele company, mke more money than me, wife works part time andreally wants to quite working to fullfill her purpose in a ministry, my 2nd older child is collage bound ( doing well in school) as well as my other child who in 5 grade. But i feel like a failure. any comments?
This article is very reassuring in that I am suffering now with horrible cystic acne, and for the last 2 months I have felt so embarassed, and miserable. This article makes me realize that there are other's who know exactly what I am going through, and even though I feel alone in this, I am not. The only thing that was discouraging for me is that I have not been on BC since my early 20s and I am now 30. I have been seeing a dermatologist for months, and it's gotten worse. I've had steroid injections, been on a strong antibiotic that I ended up forming an allergy to, and all topical agents (benzeclin, adapalene, clyndamicin) seem to make it worse as well. I then tried the hollistic route, and did a 10 day cleans which I knew I didn't need bc my metabolism is great, and I'm very healthy and in shape. I then gave up dairy and switched to soy (giving up cheese which I love) and it's been a month of that. I do drink a glass of red wine in the evenings and was looking up if that could be effecting my acne when I came across this article. I am a wife, and a mother of the most beautiful angel who is not even two yet. My husband's been deployed for 6 months, and my acne is causing me to be really down, which I can't afford bc I want to be happy with my baby. I have had drs imply that it could be an intestine issue, or a gynocology issue (acc. to hollistics and Asian medicine) and made to feel like it's me. I have never felt so badly about myself and feel completely lost on what to do next. I've resorted to using ProActiv again just bc I am desperate and used it when I was younger for mild acne. I would love to know the topical medication that helped with the cystic acne? Any suggestions?
I used to work at Barnes & Noble, and I know the gift cards would be packaged so that the cashier could easily access the magnetic strip to load the card. It would be super easy to access a card with those foldable cardboard packages without making it obvious that the card had been touched. All big stores also have gift cards behind the counter. Ask for yours from there and you can probably avoid the scam.
I always thought Homeopathic doctors studied uses of natural herbs, minerals, etc effect on the human body and for what ailment they can be used for, how to do acupuncture, learned the bodies pressure points, massage techniques, then used ALL this information to treat a patient's problems accordingly.
Most homeopathic doctors want you to eat and use only natural foods and products.
I feel a lot of the problems people have in this day and time stem from what we put in and on our bodies. All the antibiotics, growth hormones, etc fed to cattle, chickens, turkeys, hogs, etc that are grown for our consumption surely have an effect on us, not to mention the pesticides and growth enhancers that are used on all the produce we eat.
I agree that some are no more than "witch doctors" but I also feel that with studying and learning the proper use and dosage of herbs, minerals, acupuncture, even yoga, massage and upper cervical chiropractic practices a homeopathic doctor can help a person, especially with autoimmune disorders.
If I had a broken leg, I'd go to an orthopedic doctor, toothache, a denist, etc., but if I was having problems my family doctor and prescribed meds couldn't help, I would try to seek out a reputable homeopathic doctor to see if he/she could find the cause of my symptoms and fix the problem. *Most doctors only treat the symptom, NOT the cause of the problem. A good example, I go to the doctor with a headache, he prescribes some type of pain meds to stop the pain, or give me antibiotics for a sinus infection, but does nothing to find out WHY I'm having the pain or getting the sinus infection.
I think Homeopathic Doctors have a place and use just as all medical doctors and specialists.
I think I'm an excellent driver now - although I don't do it much living in NYC - but the beginning was stressful. I got into a lot of accidents with inanimate objects, like fences and parked cars. The "Clueless" reference is totally true. I hated the highway. And because I wouldn't use it at first, it took me a long time to get places. I long for the day when I can hire a driver - an inexpensive one, of course. :)
When I was four I received a "little kitchen" for Christmas. My grandfather built and painted it for me, based on a rough sketch my mother had done for him. It has a sink, four burners, oven, drawers, storage space, small blackboard and a corded phone. Over the years I and my family have added on from frugal sources. We collected additional play food, and also acquired secondhand or built other wooden items like a doll highchair, a child-size table and chairs, and a doll bed. These things were saved throughout the years. Now I have a toddler nephew Joey, who was named for my
now-deceased grandfather. Joey spends a lot of time at my parents house so a play room has been set up for him. One corner is devoted to this little kitchen and other items. Joey loves it, and has been shown a picture of me as a small child posing with the little kitchen. My mother has explained to him that this little kitchen, as well as other wooden toys we still have, were made by "Grandpa Joey."
I got a parakeet for Christmas when I was 12. He was an awesome parakeet. He got so sick at first, though, I didn't think he was going to make it. But he recovered, and learned to talk, would fly to me when I called him, and was pretty much my best friend.

One more item. The carbonation in sodas is not good for your bones.

National Cash Register, the same people who make the cash registers that eat all of our money.

It's really hard for me because I can drink all the soda I want for free at work. I would never buy it!
