Taking a vacation for the first time in a few years, improving my garden in the spring, learning new things and reading new books. Meeting people I don't know yet that will come into my life. living!
It has been a difficult year of health and finances - one compromising the other. I am looking forward to building up my strength in health and finances again. I hope to pay off 2 credit cards this year and to be strong enough to go camping and motorcycling again!
I'm looking forward to clearing clutter, organizing & getting my house in order after the holidays. Then the spring business travel begins and we'll be enjoying some nice trips!
First of all, the author is not suggesting that insurance is a good "investment" in the sense that one would expect to have a realized ROI. It is more of a preventive measure to avoid a crippling medical cost. If you were to actually spend $50k on insurance in 10 years, and during that 10 years had a $200,000 medical expense because of a major surgery, your $50k would yield $150,000 in cost avoidance. Makes more sense that way, doesn't it? That is why people get insurance in the first place.
Secondly, it took you a bachelors and a JD to conclude that insurance companies profit? Wow, you shouldn't be wasting your time reading wisebread, you should be out saving the world!! Banks profit by charging interest, insurance companies profit by using probabilities.
Putting due date reminders on my Google calender was huge for me -- it became much easier for me to keep track of payments after that. I also recently started automating some of my bills (I held off for a long time while I was still in "freelance/when's the money coming in?" brain), which is realllllly nice.
I'm kinda training for a half marathon right now (I say "kinda" because I haven't actually signed up for it yet), and just having a goal and a training schedule that I have to keep is huge for me. Normally I can't get myself to exercise on weekends (unless I'm doing something like a hike with a friend), but now, since it's the only time I can get my weekly long run in, I have to do it.
Looking forward to better health (for me), better economy (for me and the world), better relationships (for me and everyone else), and improving my yoga practice.
Thanks for your comment. I understand your frustration -- it can be really aggravating when you're looking for help and the information you find is better suited for a different audience.

I love wisebread, but I kind of hate this list. Culture is not worth spending "good money" on, you can get that for free or very cheap. Spend a few days in the nearest city, meet people, go to free museum days, see local theater for a few bucks. And a haircut? Really? Is this 1950? I have a 6-figure income, I cut my own hair for free and it looks great.
My only plan right now is working to pay off some credit card debt I have accumulated. After that is accomplished, I will look into what other financial goals to set.
this is awesome i tried the toothpaste and the cd is working much better then did before I guess it happens if you listen to it too much when you're little lol
I am starting a new job, which is going to mark a major change in the direction of my career, and which requires a move to a whole new city. Talk about a fresh start!

Awesome! The great thing about a marathon is that it's big and scary enough to keep most people on track - even on weekends:-)
I can't wait for a fresh new year to review last year's goals and get started on the new ones. It feels so good!
I will just be glad that 2011 is over. Too much sadness this year.
