Best Bad Credit Loans for 2015

A bad credit score can turn getting a much-needed loan into a big headache. Your credit score affects your interest rate and a bank’s perception of your ability to pay them back. Your loan may be capped at a lower amount to help the lender lessen its risk, and you may even have to offer more collateral to secure a loan.

Of course, some lenders who work with bad-credit borrowers are better than others. Getting the best loan with bad credit means finding a lender who is transparent about rates and fees, flexible on terms, and willing to view you as more than your credit score when deciding your rate and loan amount. It also means avoiding predatory lenders and common scams that can keep you trapped in a cycle of debt.

25 Gift Ideas Under $10 I’d Be Happy to Receive

Whenever I see a typical gift idea list, I have two immediate frustrations.

One, the gifts on it are often expensive. If there’s someone out there I’m going to be spending $100 or more on for a gift, it’s very likely that I know that person well enough that I don’t have to be looking at a gift list for ideas. Gift lists are good for that last-minute person or for the person you don’t know that well, not for your spouse.

That leads to the second problem. Gift lists usually seem to be just tossed together, like someone literally went to Amazon and did a search for items in a certain category and made a list out of the top few results. I might like two or three of the items and then have no idea why some of the other ones were even on the list.

Should You Tell Your Kids About Your Debt?

When and how should you tell your kids that your family is in debt? Photo: Gordon

Parenting is a no easy task, as you already know. There is no playbook or instruction manual to tell you the best way to handle a given situation.

One tough parenting dilemma and highly debated issue is whether your children should know when your family is struggling with debt.

There are many schools of thought on this topic, and no clear-cut answer. Many feel that money issues, especially where you’re financially struggling, are an adult issue that children shouldn’t need to worry about. Children are helpless in the situation and need to feel a sense of security, so telling them about your financial problems may only make matters worse by scaring them or confusing them.

Looking for a recession-proof business? Insurance is one of those industries that is largely untroubled by the state of the economy. Cyber Insurance for Your Business

Cyber crimes, and insurance policies against them, come in many forms. Photo: Quinn Dombrowski

The saying “crime doesn’t pay” is intended to caution would-be criminals that the reward is not worth the risk. And for the most part, it’s true: The average act of grand larceny in 2013 netted about $1,260, according to the FBI. Conviction of grand larceny is punishable by up to five years in prison; with time off, most are out in 24 months.

Tips to Maximize Kitchen Storage Space

Need more space in your kitchen? No problem at all! All you have to do is tear down some walls and add more cabinets.

Easier said than done, especially if you don’t have thousands of dollars stuffed in those cabinets just waiting to be spent on a kitchen renovation. Even if money isn’t an issue, there are probably plenty of other ways you’d rather use your hard-earned cash.

So, in an effort to avoid the contractors and unrest that accompanies a home renovation project in the heart of the house, here are some ways to get the most out of your current kitchen space:

How to Deal with the High Cost of Children’s Sports

Football, baseball, and hockey are among the most expensive sports to enroll your kids in. Photo: Brian McDermott

After much thought and consideration, my husband and I decided that it is finally time to get our kids started in a few sports and activities this year. And since our two daughters are only 3 and 5, we chose to begin this chapter with a weekly gymnastics class we thought our girls would enjoy.

Taking place on Wednesday nights at 6:30, the class will cost a total of $125 for the two of them each month. Since we were looking for something fun yet affordable (and indoors for winter), gymnastics seems like the perfect fit… at least for now.
