Getting an education is the best investment I made, and that anyone can make. It pays off by being able to earn a higher salary and to have a better quality of life.
My biggest investment required a teammate, my husband, and it's our three children. It has been worth every bit of sacrifice and love. I became a stay-at-home mom, learned to be frugal on one income, and poured all that I could into raising them. They're all grown up now and I'm so proud of them!
My current biggest investment? My husband. He's been with me through so much and yet he still loves me and considers himself blessed to have married me! We now get to rediscover each other and it's good!
Getting my doctorate in chemistry is going to be my biggest investment. Sure, it has been really hard to make ends meet while working on it, but that also has made me able to follow a budget and pay attention to prices.
Our 2 best investments were buying homes when the market was on its way up. We bought our first home in 2000 and sold it the following year for a $60,000 profit. Then we bought our second home and sold it 2 years later for a $65,000 profit. We haven't been that lucky since then. We're in a home now that seems to be going up in value so hopefully one day when we sell it we will profit again.
Names and ages of children are included on rental application as landlord needs to know how many people will be living in unit. Number of tenants can be limited based on size of unit.
I am a little curious as to how stuffing a shoe with newspaper can help prevent it from dry rotting, so could you (or someone who knows about it) please expand on this. Thanks in advance
My husband requested a new cordless drill. They can be pricey, but I found one that was on clearance - I still don't know why; the brand/model is still available and I got it for just a bit more than new batteries cost!
I live in El Paso, TX as well and I am on-board with getting a Trader Joe's here. I think the large city along with Ciudad Juarez and the people it bring to our city would easily support a couple of Trader Joe's.
Yes, we always stay on budget for Fathers day...and other holidays! If I do not have a budget...than I know I would spend way more. I always find it easy to find things within my budget for each holiday! The best gifts do not have to be expensive ones...its the little things that count!

I bought shares of Gilead just before Sovaldi hit the market, and sold just before the pricing controversy became a media sensation.

You should buy a bag of flour and make your own bread rather than buy it and also buy dried beans rather than canned.

A great article, but very incomplete. I have no idea where the electrical tape is supposed to go. Where is this sensor located on the cartridge?
